  1. Story Friday August 11, 2017

It's possible that Helena and Demetrius were manipulated into breaking Immortal law. Like Nanase and Susan were bait to draw them away. If, by chance, another Immortal got to the authorities in France first and did something to prevent them from being able to send agents to deal with the vampire, H&D might have felt forced to recruit Nanase and Susan. I dunno if that would be considered breaking Immortal law though, also Pandora showed that if an Immortal really believes that what they're doing isn't breaking Immortal law then they're not breaking it. So H&D would likely have knowingly broke Immortal law to be forced to reset because even if they might have lied to Susan and Nanase, that's not a reset-able offense, because Immortals can lie as Voltaire has shown. There is another reason for an improper reset though, Jerry mentioned that if an Immortal interrupts the reset process, it could mess things up for them. Jerry also mentioned that in order to reset properly, he needed to gather all his knowledge and power back which meant unpowering the hammer artifact, so I imagine leaving the hammer artifact powered could have potentially caused an improper reset. If H&D were already in the process of dying when they suddenly learned of Nanase and Susan being in danger, interrupting that to go help them might explain why they disappeared after they lead them into battle. Alternatively, they might have sacrificed some of their power during their reset to prevent something from happening.
  2. Story Monday August 14, 2017

I think it's more the fact that she was suppressing those abilities as part of living with Blaike, Blaike had told her that not knowing what was ahead, was what made the adventure worth taking, Pandora obviously took that to heart and continued to believe that. I think her descent into madness started when she saw an opportunity to wipe out the werewolves, and then as she got older and more bored, she kinda shot herself in the foot by setting up a chain of events that she didn't want to predict the outcome of. I don't think Pandora's any difference than Humans when if comes to letting her emotions guide her actions, Humans are just a capable of abandoning empathy when angered greatly. Immortals just seem to be more susceptible to us due to how they age. Losing the ability to control emotions is probably the Immortal equivalent to dementia in elderly humans. Nope, but I suspect these Pandoras aren't hallucincations. For one, they're not small enough. If Pandora wasn't already planning on resetting soon, this conversation is likely going to make her decide that she needs to. Because it sounds like she's about to convince herself that her recent behaviour almost hurt Tedd badly and that continuing her current life would likely end up doing so again except with her not being able to fix things, and it could very well be much worse too.

And the next page Hanma stated "Something anyone can summon from anywhere might be a bit too much for me. right now." so while she could make an artifact that say allowed Americans to summon hammers, it wouldn't be the same as the original which allowed Susan and Nanase to summon them in France.
  5. More Speculation.

So I had a bad thought about how Voltaire might be able to really traumatize Tedd. Pose as Edward and force a confrontation with Tedd about his gender bending habits. Voltaire's impersonated Abner to give misinformation, we've also seen Pandora pose as Fox to guide Nanase, what's stopping Voltaire from posing as Edward and going off on a transphobic rant at Tedd?
  6. NP Fri Aug 11, 2017

Hanma isn't powerful enough to create that kind of artifact yet, Jerry was 75 when he made the original hammer statue and empowered it, I dunno how long he would have had the power to do so but I'll guess at anywhere after 50 years could be possible. Dan probably could have been literal in Hanma being 14 years old or maybe she's actually closer to 20 depending on when in the 90's she reset and when the comic takes place. Tedd could have to wait 30-50 years
  7. NP Wednesday August 9, 2017

I'd say, even though Hanma originally wanted the hammers back, having the option of creating something different with her own spin seemed more appealing. Besides, Susan can summon her own hammers, so we got that on standby if needed.
  8. Story Friday August 11, 2017

Considering their tri-lingualism includes French, I would think that some of their ancestors were either French or Japanese that had immigrated to France before immigrating to America, so I think it would make sense if Noriko had moved back to France after the divorce. We know Mama Kitsune know's more than she lets on, but how much she knows is uncertain, we could easily assume she's in the know about Immortals if Adrian told her as much as he told Edward and Noriko.
  9. Story Friday August 11, 2017

They were following someone in France, it was either Nanase or Susan, they don't know why, but there was a reason they were there. One possibility for why Helena and Demetrius didn't go to the authorities about the vampire, is that maybe that would mean getting Noriko involved? Would that crackpot theory be along the lines of Mama Kitsune knowing that Noriko was in France and wanted Helena and Demetrius to follow Nanase to make sure they kept Nanase from meeting Noriko? My theory would be that Helena and Demetrius was asked by Noriko to awaken Nanase, maybe Noriko knew Nanase's potential and either secretly decided that she'd be suitable for continuing the family tradition of monster hunting, or maybe she realized that her work was making enemies that could target her family and so she wanted Nanase to be able to protect Tedd. Susan might have just been caught up in family drama. Either way that wouldn't be cause for an improper reset.
  10. Story Friday August 11, 2017

It makes me wonder if multiple vows can be made by an Immortal with the possibility of one vow conflicting with another or forcing the Immortal to multitask. multiple vows might make things complicated in the event of an improper reset. Or maybe a vow made in haste. Like Helena and Demetrius learn of Elliot being in danger just prior to their improper reset and so they made a quick vow to make sure they stayed involved and not bugger off in their next lives.
  11. Story Friday August 11, 2017

I'm thinking it's the latter, that she's speaking to herself internally like Susan and Diane have done. It is interesting that the "New" Pandora is dressed like her 150 year old self, The form used to talk to Tedd looked more like her roughly 200 year old self. The "I'm not certain, but sometime soon" coupled with "I'm going to wind up hurting her" really makes me believe that Pandora is planning on resetting once the dam's been taken care of and she's talked to Adrian. She still has no clue what's going to happen later though.
  12. NP Wednesday August 9, 2017

I get the feeling Susan's not the only one that will become Hanma's Moral Center, I mean Ashley was, to take a comment made by Edward about Elliot, born in a girl scout uniform, Rhoda is practically the same as she didn't like the idea of using her magic to distract Kitty and Catalina's wild, but her intentions are always good. So I think it'd be that all 4 of them will have the job of making sure the game is fun, but not evil. Not just Susan.

I'd say it's a reference, considering Scrooge is like the original "Rich jerk who learns humility"
  15. Story, Monday August 7, 2017

I can't find the tweets anymore (they were either yesterday or late Monday) but I remember seeing Dan mention that the past weekend was atypical and that Tuesday was going to be atypical as well which lead me to think that he had other things going on that kept him from working on the comic. He did retweet a couple tweets about stress and anxiety so I'm hoping he's OK. Delaying it till Friday makes sense because he doesn't have to stress out to get 2 story comics done in a short period of time.
  16. Story, Monday August 7, 2017

On the surface, when we saw Pandora trying to get Magus to have Edward kill Abraham, it seemed villainous, even her statement of "he hurt my son" didn't seem to justify it. And her conversation with Adrian in the hospital didn't make it any better either, we were lead to believe that she was an very old Immortal with some screws loose, trying to stir up crap for her amusement. Now though it's become a lot more complex, yeah Pandora's age has played a factor in things, but it's more than that, I don't think of her as a villain, but as someone who had, for a while, lost sight of what mattered most to her, and she's just recently been made aware of that fact.
  17. Political Discussion Thread (READ FIRST POST)

There's a large number of Haitians that fled to the US after the 2010 earthquake because of how long it was taking to get aid and cleanup in, hardly anything had been done 6 months after the quake because of the way things were organized, apparently a lot of the donations were marked for building, but not much in the way of actual cleanup, I dunno it sounded fishy to me as I remember hearing reports that the Haitian government was corrupt and keeping most the the aid for itself, not to mention most of the land was apparently never registered under any owners. Anyway the Haitian refugees don't believe it's safe to return home even after 7 year despite what Homeland Security says and their protection is set to expire in January so they're coming to Canada before they are forced back to Haiti.

I wanna believe Dan's going to retcon her as being responsible for Greg's Anime Style Martial Arts.
  19. Story, Monday August 7, 2017

You mean with his father? As is it's Pandora's been able to lessen the hurt of Noriko leaving by explaining some of what happened years ago, Tedd understands that he inadvertently caused his parents to believe he didn't have any magic potential, and while it still sucks that it was that misunderstanding that caused issues between Edward and Noriko (though we still don't know exactly what Adrian did that was apparently the last straw), Tedd as least understands that he had no control over it. Meanwhile Tedd still has to deal with Edward's apparent dislike of Tedd's gender shifting, but hopefully Pandora's acceptance of it, plus Elliot's acceptance of it earlier, should give Tedd some confidence in in confronting his dad about it. Heck Tedd has 8 people behind him on this (I'm pretty sure even Susan would back Tedd up on the subject), Edward doesn't stand a chance. Tedd knows about the pendant, Grace took it and likely showed Tedd, I would assume they gave it to Edward but I'm uncertain. It doesn't appear that they knew the significance of the symbol before Voltaire claimed responsibility for it, it's possible the Voltaire's intentions were to make sure that Adrian assumed that Pandora was responsible. You know, I can't shake the feeling that Pandora's actions lately were predicted by Voltaire and despite Pandora's best efforts to help Tedd, it may be setting things up for some more badness.
  20. What are you learning?

I think there was a thread where someone had asked what the general age range was of EGS readers, that was before the great server crash last year.
  21. Story, Monday August 7, 2017

Unfortunately,I think you're going to have to share now. Also, I did it again:
  22. http://www.egscomics.com/index.php?id=2380 Welp, Pandora realizes that Magus might still be an issue, dunno if she plans on addressing that at some point, her deciding not to say anything about it to Tedd seems like Dan's foreshadowing. And of course, Grace and Edward are sawing logs. But Tedd does admit this isn't the first time she's been up late working on stuff.
  23. Things You Find Amusing

And now I wish Dan would create a set of identical twins or something and introduce them separately, and I don't mean Susan and Diane or Elliot and Ellen, I mean truly identical, and see how many people get confuzzled.

Because they're AIs that the machines programed, you can look at them as trying to guide Humanity in a certain direction, if you figure that The One would meet both and hear what each has to say and then in the end chose which one to follow. Every One before Neo would focused on the Architect as an enemy and therefore believed that they needed to fight. But Neo would have seen the Oracle as a friend and taken her advice in the end and try for peace.
  25. NP Weds July 26, 2017

I know this is now really off topic here, but I kinda wonder if the Machines purposefully had this cycle going to try to get the Humans to do something different. For all the previous incarnations of Zion and The One, Humanity failed to win the war because they tried to fight back, and then we get Neo, who sees a problem developing in the system and goes to the machines and basically says "You know what? We gotta stop the fighting or everything's just going to implode on itself". For the first time, a Human asked for peace, which is probably what the Machines were hoping for, why they didn't just eradicate Humanity, the enslavement was just punishment for Humanity's arrogance and Neo would have been proof that the punishment served it's purpose.
