  1. Things You Only Noticed On Reread

To be fair, Sarah could have easily been referring to the train wreck of Matt Cohen attempting to ask Susan on a date.
  2. NP: Monday April 24, 2017

Really hard to tell if it is longer or not, Grace's arm blocks the view in the third panel. All I can tell is that both panels show her hair going to her lower back. If it does go just a little lower, that can be attribute to her head tilting back from having been previously looking down at the counter, that would drop the hair down a little bit.
  3. NP: Monday April 24, 2017

    That's Tensaided, not George.
  4. NP: Monday April 24, 2017

So, you're saying yes, it would be lazy?
  5. NP Friday April 21, 2017

There's a segment in this video that's kinda like that, I don't think any of these really work on a change blindness standpoint, but using twins to create confusion can still be fun.
  6. Story: Monday April 24, 2017

As far as I can remember, Big Cheese came up with the crazy convoluted schemes, and Jerry Atric attempted to make them less convoluted.
  7. http://www.egscomics.com/index.php?id=2337 Well I figured Susan would ask, didn't expect Justin to still not believe that Diane looked like Susan, definitely wasn't expecting Justin to have his own theory about their possible relation. Friday should be interesting. Also, from Monday's thread: Today's page answers both my questions, that Susan would ask, and that Justin isn't aware of Diane's change of attitude, though her change essentially began during the Christmas break and we can assume she might have toned things down in school once it started up again, but we didn't see much from MSHS to suggest that Diane interacted with Justin and he just missed her on the Friday morning, though I'm not sure if hearing that discussion would have helped her case any, I don't see Justin having reacted well to knowing that Diane was thinking about seducing Elliot. Although it might have helped push him to believing that Diane and Susan were alike, both being attracted to Elliot might be convincing enough.
  8. Story: Monday April 24, 2017

The last time he rationalized slacking off worked. If you're referring to the moment in Family Tree, then Jerry assumed that what he had done fulfilled his previous self's vow and he was free and clear, I doubt even finding the connection between Susan and Diane would instantly free him of the vow either. It might take Susan telling Jerry that he's fulfilled his vow, which could be after Jerry finds the connection, it could be 30 years later, or she dies of old age. Who knows?
  9. Story: Monday April 24, 2017

Maybe Pandora noticed Jerry and mistakes him for the one that tried to get Elliot killed? She doesn't know it was Voltaire (she likely doesn't know, or remember Voltaire). Of course she should probably realize that Jerry had fairly recently reset and manipulating others into killing might not be on the list of thing a young immortal wants to try. Other possibility is she's aware of his vow to Susan and Nanase so she might consider him useful in helping find the one who tried to get Elliot killed, snatching him up that way definitely seems like a Pandora way to say "Hello". Magus would be interesting, he doesn't trust Immortals, but he doesn't trust Sirleck either and after his last meeting with Sirleck, I wouldn't be surprised if Magus regrets his choice so much that asking for an Immortal's help is looking better again. At the very least Magus might consider a freshly reset Immortal to be let likely to jerk him around and if he's careful with what he says, he could convince Jerry to help deal with Sirleck. Of course, if that's the case, then Magus needs to trim his nails. Unless she's got an Immortal friend who vowed to protect Susan and assumes Jerry might be infringing on that vow...that'd be too convoluted and we've already got 5 immortals running around her, add another one and Dan could probably start a spinoff comic. I doubt we'll see him again, he was a plot point to bring attention to Noriko, Tedd and Nanase. Beyond that, I don't see Dan having a reason to bring him back, unless for a flashback. Plot twist: Mr. Pompoms has been keeping track of Susan and Diane for the past 18 years and has a room full of various pictures of them growing up. He intentionally impregnated two women, made sure Diane was put up for adoption and made sure Susan caught him cheating. Either this is a nature vs nurture experiment, or he wanted both to be conditioned a certain way for a specific purpose. Maybe he was counting on them meeting which would explain why both would still be living in Moperville. Abner was just lucky. I think we need to call professionals. Charlotte's Angels. Abner wasn't lucky, he had Voltaire telling him everything, but still, Abner does seem to be familiar with the paranormal, whether he's a wizard or mage or neither is something we'll hopefully find out soon. It's entirely possible that Pandora told Magus, she would have warned him that Elliot was being watched by two Immortals, and added that they were recently improperly reset which means they should be easy to distract. I vote Big Cheese from Samurai Pizza Cats.
  10. Gaming Webcomic

For the record, I consider this comic 100% canon.
  11. Story Friday April 21, 2017

::googles:: Ahh that does bear a strong resemblance to your previous forum avatar.
  12. Story Wednesday April 19, 2017

Here's the thing, it used to be that my dad would drive, and my mom would try to read the map. Going someplace we'd never been before require several pull overs so that dad could go "we're here, let me know when we're about to get here." Once dad got a GPS, he could set the directions himself, and if there's a mistake he could only blame himself.
  13. Gaming Webcomic

I believe portions of it are canon, and occur at different points in the timeline. The parts with Grace and Ellen (#1, #2, #3) appear to be referenced in MV5, as Grace and Ellen in panel 2 are (or rather were, in the case of Grace) wearing the same clothes as the Gaming Webcomic pages, also the setting is very similar to panel 1 of link #1. That would place that portion of Gaming Webcomic sometime during the past summer. The Chrono Trigger segment shows Tedd with his current short hairstyle, which would definitely place it after the card tournament, exactly when is tough to say and it's chances of being canon are actually more questionable due to the uncertainty of the current main storyline. We see Tedd in various forms, starting with what appears to be an MV5 form (trying out what Grace, Ellen and Sarah came up with maybe), then appears in a female form, and for some reason ending with and even more androgynous form. There's a two page Skyrim segment that may or may not be canon, and if so could have happened any time in the past several months. Grace and Justin's clothing seems like a late summer or fall timeframe, not quite so hot, but not quite so cool either. There is this one page where Grace is talking about the ability to "look up" in side scroller platform game, and while Grace is shown to be wearing the same spaghetti strap top as in the segments with Ellen, the whole presentation of the page comes across as more of a "Dan giving his opinion through Grace", all the other Gaming pages show interaction between different characters (Grace/Ellen, Grace/Tedd, Grace/Justin) and they feel like they're in character, that what they say or do is actually them saying and doing it, it feels natural. if we compare Gaming Webcomic to Video Gaaaaames, the feel of how Grace behaves, plus how Dan presents it overall, doesn't scream "THIS IS CANON!", especially considering we have Rich and Larry, as well as Amanda making cameos, the scene with Grace announcing she's going to attempt a non-lethal run of Deus Ex couldn't possibly happen in a canon situation, and then of course we have this bit.
  14. Story Wednesday April 19, 2017

Millenials these days, give em a smartphone and they don't care about navigating the old fashioned way. Then again I find myself wishing GPS systems were more common when I was growing up, having to listen to parents arguing about map directions was not fun. Having that voice that said "turn left at one hundred meters" was mildly annoying but at least it cut down on the "are you sure we go this way?" Protecting Elliot to protect Tedd makes sense, Tedd's not in physical danger but Elliot was. Still there may have been more to it than that.

For new consoles, sure, but he may be able to get used consoles whenever new ones launch if he's clever. Still money would be an issue, he's only able to buy video game peripherals on his allowance.
  16. Story Wednesday April 19, 2017

I still believe that Helena and Demetrius also had made a vow in their previous life, why else would they feel compelled to watch over Elliot? Whatever the circumstances were, they might have wanted to ensure that they had every advantage possible to keep that vow. What are the chances they intentionally broke Immortal law? Like if something was about to happen and they couldn't do anything to stop it without breaking Immortal law. They might have been willing to risk messing up their memories but wanted to make sure they had help in keeping their vow, IE: people close to Elliot, again we know that Elliot and Nanase knew each other before the trip, and and if Helena and Demetrius knew Susan went to the same school and was friends with Sarah who's a good friend of Elliot's, they might have felt it was worth giving them magic as well as a way to meet Jerry.
  17. All of time and all of space....

I can probably guess one reason, but the politics thread is locked.

I think patching a cluster of game consoles together seems more like a Tedd thing to do if he a bigger budget.
  19. Story Wednesday April 19, 2017

I always found it strange that Susan knew where the artifact was located and had GPS coordinates of the cave, it seems funny that Helena and Demetrius would go as far as telling Susan and Nanase that much detail about it. Though they knew the artifact was made by another Immortal and that said Immortal would have to disenchant the artifact in preparation for a reset. If they knew had a feeling that Immortal was due for a reset, maybe they set up Susan to want to meet Jerry? It's a stretch, but between telling Susan how to find the artifact if she was suddenly unable to summon the hammers, and telling her that the artifact got it's power from another Immortal and when they reset the ability to summon the hammers goes away, they chose to tell her how to find it. I find that suspicious.
  20. Story Friday April 21, 2017

Yeah Greg certain does fit what I was saying, though it'd be interesting if he doesn't count because everyone involved originally assumed it was just the style of martial arts and not magic? Of course Greg's since learned that it's more than that so he reluctantly decided to stop training new students in that style, though you could say that the ASMA Dojo was self regulating, yeah it worked for Nanase, Elliot and Justin, but there was a lack of other students and the one other student we know of had thought Greg was a fraud so maybe there wasn't much danger of Greg teaching large numbers of people. But at the same time Nanase on many occasions and Justin on at least one, weren't very discreet about showing their abilities. I also think that until Pandora showed up on TV, Moperville was fairly self contained in terms of how residents reacted to strange occurrences, and Magic was probably content to leave it that way because the residents didn't question it which I'm sure Edward played a role in making sure they didn't. Then Moperville became a tourist destination for people wanting to find out more.
  21. Story Wednesday April 19, 2017

We knew she could get feedback from the fairies right from the start though, huh, I wonder how that worked actually, Susan used the fairy to scout ahead, was she literally able to see what the fairy was seeing? Or was there some other sense that was being used that let Susan know that the artifact hadn't been knocked over?
  22. What are you reading right now?

This was one of the main issues I saw people complaining about with No Man's Sky, sure there are a vast number of planets, but it very quickly turns into "if you've seen one planet, you've seen em all". I've even watched some Let's Plays on it and yeah, planets are either snowy, barren, temperate or toxic have very little in the way of flora and fauna, I think planets have a max of 12 different animal species and I think there's only 2 or 3 alien races total. As vast as the universe is in that game, it looks pretty darned empty.
  23. Things You Find Amusing

I love it whenever a gaming personality tweets about going outside and including a picture: Responses range from "What kind of FPS do you get? to "Nice graphics" My favorite one:
  24. Things You Find Amusing

You would think that a smaller blade would have a higher breaking point than a longer blade, of course daggers vary in blade type as well, from thin bladed stilettos, to heavier dirks, which would also affect the breakability. Of course one can't dismiss the possibility of shady manufacturing and marketing practices.
  25. Story Friday April 21, 2017

Dan had said that it's not guaranteed that a combination of names would given an affinity, for one example, he stated that " Magic wouldn't dignify "Maximus Power" with any sort of affinity. It's about a theme, not power." so it's possible that out of all the people with name combinations that make you think they could have an affinity for something, only a fraction actually do. Magic having a flair for the dramatic and such there are probably name combinations that it considers "too obvious" or "uncreative", Catalina Bobcat was probably in that sweet spot, or maybe Magic just likes cats. As for Magic wanting to keep itself mostly secret, randomly seeding people with name based affinities doesn't itself increase the chances of being public, but having 100 people with a name based affinity does increase the chance of 1 of them developing magic and Magic would have been content with that. If that one person suddenly realized their magic was themed after their name and started looking for others with names that suggest possible affinities and teaching them how to use magic, that might be more of an issue. In some cases, being a troll might even help keep the balance. If there is some inconsistency, it might keep people from pining down how magic works and making it public. What Pandora has been doing though, has been giving more consistency, not talking about the cases of public uses of magic, but by marking a number of people, the concentration of magic users in Moperville increased, people who didn't believe magic was real now has proof, some might want to keep it a secret because they fear what people might think of them, but there might be a few that are like "this is soo cool, everyone needs to know" and after Arthur J Arthur announced on TV that magic was real, all it would take is for one of those people marked by Pandora to figure out that being marked isn't the only way to get magic and tell everyone about it.
