There is the common situation where fading eyesight is "assisted" by memory -- remembering what those few hints you can still see should be associated with. Something totally unfamiliar is missing the many details that your memory fills in for you, leaving just a fuzzy cloud (the give-away that you are starting to do this is when you "notice" details that are usually there but just don't happen to be there this time).

The tough part is expressing the amount of something and the amount of nothing in the same units so you can compare them.

I can believe that Tedd doesn't know the house is bugged by DGB, but I'll never believe he hasn't guessed it is (partial evidence uncovered because his expertise isn't far behind state-of-the-art optional).

I don't think anyone yet has mentioned that as an empath, Grace knows Ashley is nowhere near panicking.

I think Grace is counting on the "Can't keep secrets from a Wizard studying under a Seer even if you Try" defense.

The installation of even the tinyest A-bomb would mean the only critical systems are "recognize when within five miles of target" and "activate".

I suspect they all were inspired by Pigs is Pigs by Ellis Parker Butler, 1905. And that was inspired by the non-fictional version of pet rabbits.

Does Nanase now have a spell that prevents people from connecting her powered-up state with her normal one? How many of the main cast are going to want one too, and is it a spell that Tedd can put in a watch? I guess a more likely problem is that Ashley is expecting everyone there to be a fictional shape shifter -- meaning she expects each individual to have one obvious and consistent "Tell" for the audience to recognize. She probably thought Nanase's "Tell" was the two-tone hair.

He should be able to analyze the wand and determine what sort of stick makes a good wand "blank", and his first lesson was in making a stick into a true wand.

Just compare the amount of "squish" on each side; if it's anything close to even then the extra damage resistance is magic-only, not normal physical strength. Other contact is not absolutely necessary for Science! (Although possibly for other reasons).

Fortunately, I really like decompressed stories, so having Ashley first step into the house 50 comics into the party arc is fine by me.

With Earth's atmosphere one fifth oxygen, it's easier to get enough O2 than to get rid of the CO2, so checking for excess CO2 makes a good "need to breath more" indicator that rises the longer you hold your breath. Humans don't have that good of a "need more O2" sense and can suffocate in atmospheres with too little O2 (but also no CO2) without much warning.

Tedd absolutely should be the one to check -- you need to use a form of measurement that doesn't change in between readings. Even if the strength level of Cheerleadra vs. Elliot was exactly the same, the size and angle of the fingers, the thickness of the skin on the fingers that are doing the touching, etc. all might all change the results. And of course, they could choose a non-embarrassing area of skin to test, like the outside of the upper arm. That's in theory -- in practice they might be too flustered to think of that.

Not sure what it portends for the party if an outfit has a skirt so short it needs a Scenery Censor (caution:TV Tropes) in Panel 2, even if the "Scenery" is a fairy-doll tail.

Some magical tools might work only for wizards, and it is reasonable that flinching even a little when the wand turns on would mess up the reading. They might need a wizard without an ingrained fear of the wand -- good thing Ashley's on the way.

This is actually an argument for the party -- Ashley's image in Grace's thoughts has become less like the real Ashley in the same way that any description becomes less accurate when it's second or third hand. Once Grace has personally seen Ashley her mental image of Ashley will be a lot less distorted, which in Ashley's case means nicer.

Elliot is probably not going to be rationally cynical enough to count as "ready" for much of anything until he also counts as too old.

For an entirely different take on Liz's problem with Elliot, perhaps she thinks he's too perfect, so that when the statistically likely breakup eventually happens Ashley will be devastated.
