Intellectually, yes, he would have realized that Edward was not of a politically ruling house, but I think that in his mind-controlled state, he was running more on gut instinct instead.

Dwight's in a bad position. He left his post, apparently with what he sees as good reason, but probably without permission, perhaps against orders. We don't know how much his boss values initiative over blind obedience, but taking the initiative always looks better if it all turns out well. That, for Dwight, that seems to mean Liam and Virginia back to their side of the world, him back at his post, and reporting a serious crime that needs investigating, pronto.
"Pronto" does not seem to be Liam's priority at all.

I admit to considerable impatience on the return of Tara and Andrea, but it has long been my hope that we would see more than a glimpse of the EGS multiverse--preferably through the eyes of one of the Main Eight Nine... however many we're up to now. It seems unlikely that Mr. Verres would approve of Elliot and/or Grace taking a quick trip to Griffinstan, especially with whatever intrigue  going on just now, but I'll settle for knowing that there is intrigue. At least for a while.
I doubt it. The blockage seems to have been a major problem on their side. Andrea's investigation may be big news. Even if it isn't, it's not too odd that a guard would be told why he was granting her passage.

The Uryuoms we've met in the present in the comic appear to be pretty chill. The ones we've seen in flashbacks to the ancient past appear to have been dicks. The one who recently discovered that he could use magic to create a flame looked ominously dickish.

One interresting point is that the conflict from thousands of years ago is spoken of as if it happened last week.
Is it possible that the same government & rulling caste has steadily dominated their entire world ever since? 
If the rulers don't change, there is no need to reexamine or rewrite the myths & legends that justify their right to rule. 
If the Uryuom conflict was the event that cleared the previous board & set the pieces upon which the statup quo is currently built, then it is in the current rulers' interest to have every one learn their version of that war's battles, generals & martyers.  Everything after that can be glossed over.

I think they are manufactured with guillotines and super glue. That would explain the variety. That's how I would do it, and now the neighbor is mad about her cat. Hey, she looks cute with a goose head, and I offered her the cat-goose as well. There's no pleasing some folks.
 
They do indeed have an arms race, if they learn to make arms as babies. Then again, the humans had a head start, what with being born with arms.
It's the opposable thumb technology you've really got to be concerned about. If the trash pandas ever figure that out, we'll have regular muggings taking out the garbage each evening.
