Arnie took the job seriously his first term. His second, harder to tell.
  2. TF Gun can alter sexual preference, however and that's foreign to Uryouoms too. Copying Brownie and still being able to speak is an excellent point. Ellen's copy beam did not seem to impose impose catlike instincts on her. But did it copy Brownie's ability to sleep at a moment's notice? I'd tend to think there's a difference in the intensity of the situation between defending someone you love against the monster that just knocked her around and realizing your girlfriend is being stupidly brave. Magic likes drama, true, but emotion on the part of a magic-user is a game changer. Unmet emotional wants or needs enable Marking. A big enough emotional backlash can Awaken. but then I'd argue that Ellen could copy Nanase's Angel form a second time if her reasons for copying the Angel form satisfied the conditions for Nanase initiating the Angel form to begin with. I am not convinced Ellen could go Angel on her own unless she earned her own copy of the Angel spell and Dan hasn't told us.
  3. I'd say there's a difference between what the TF Gun can do and what Tedd has done with it. I don't think Tedd has messed with gender identity, which in turn suggests that Ellen's Fv5 handbeam doesn't. Since all TF Gun morphs are temporary, messing with gender identity could have some cruel mind-mucking side effects. On the other hand, an Uryouom would take it in stride and they built the TF Gun. An interesting question is if Ellen's "copy" handbeam copies the target's identification. If Ellen copied Tedd, would she get his genderfluidity? If she copied Sam, would she become a trans-male? I tend to think yes, but it's a definitely debatable question.
  4. I'm not sure if that's ever been addressed. The TF Gun, and therefore Ellen's Fv5 beam does mess with sexual orientation, to make adjusting to an opposite gender body easier. But messing with sexual orientation is not the same thing as messing with gender. Dan is on record as saying the TF Gun can change those parts of people that they cannot change on their own, so theoretically it's possible.

Kind of the job description for entertainers. Politicians too, come to think of it, Arnie has been both.

  8. Changing Medications (Level of Trust Required)

2-wake-2-wake-2-wake-2-wake has been my sleeping norm for about 20 years now. Pretty sure it's a stress thing in my case. It started when I was working in the computer game industry and started pulling regular 10-hour days for weeks on end, culminating in a few weeks of 12 hour days and a single day of anything goes, following by "see you on Monday!" amounts of time off. I tend to build up and hold in stress anyway. Bad survival habit I picked up when I was young.
  9. Things You Only Noticed On Reread

We've never seen Uryuoms or Greater Chimera who can affect anybody but themselves. If you want to go that far out, then we can posit werewolves as operating out of a third kind of magical energy that isn't human magic or Uryuom energy.
  10. Things You Only Noticed On Reread

It's an interesting concept: A form of magic that works by a different, older set of rules. It would beg the question of how the curse survived the last reset, but nothing besides time travel is known to be impossible for magic so by definition your idea has some validity. I'm not sure how *likely* it would be, you understand...
  11. I forgot Vladia as well. That case also was Ellen's FV5 beam, amped or pushed in some unusual way that it created Vladia completely human without antennae, something she ended up being rather grateful for.
  12. Things You Only Noticed On Reread

Thinking about it, the werewolf's curse could have been a form of vampirism gone horribly sideways. Being a werewolf means killing and consuming people and total lack of empathy, which fits the definition of being an aberrent/vampire, so there is a superficial similarity there. EDIT: I originally thought that lycanthropy might have been an attempt at becoming a vampire/aberrent that went wrong, creating a sort of werewolf plague. Then it occurred to me that there could be a "master lycantrope" out there who looks like a normal human, powerful magic user but every now and then turns into a monster and goes on a tear, leaving infected people to further attack and kill with their later killings and eating human flesh in some way sustaining the master lycanthrope without him having to go out and do it all himself. I just thought of this so I'm not sure how behind it I am but it's something to chew on...
  13. Changing Medications (Level of Trust Required)

Some. I Sometimes need a 5th cycle to be completely rested. And that's before my personal habits (*cough*computergames*cough*) which sometimes result in me shorting myself sleep. Unlike Mooney's 4 hours down, 4 up schedule, my 2 hour cycles run back to back with only 5-10 min of activity before going back to sleep. I always assumed that I went through a complete sleep cycle and woke up when the cycle finished rather than sleeping through the reset and restart for the next cycle. I may not be getting into the really deep levels of sleep as much as I could though.
  14. Changing Medications (Level of Trust Required)

I get my sleep on a 2 hours, wake, go back to sleep, 2 hours, wake, go back to sleep sort of schedule, but in my case that's not drug-related. It's psychology-related.
  15. Things You Only Noticed On Reread

Error admitted. But I think my 'time passed by" idea is still valid.
  16. I forgot about Tedd and Susan.
  17. Things You Only Noticed On Reread

It's possible but the likely length of time between Abraham's master getting bitten and Abraham finishing work on the Diamond suggests there ought to have been plenty of time for the curse to wear off if it was going to. This does bring the question of how curses work. How do they stick with their targets when they're unwanted (especially when the target is a high level magic user who ought to have a good resistance)
  18. This. According to one of the Q&As Ellen's FV5 handbeam spell creates an FV5 morph that is for all intents and purposes identical to the TF Gun, presumably identical down to the length of time. We haven't seen anybody transformed by Ellen besides Grace and grace just shrugged it off as she would. Ellen failed to transform the second Goo monster and not-Tengue. Presumably Ellen has used it on herself and Nanase in private many, many times (Since magic usage is what gives new spells, I'd speculate that TF play with Nanase is probably the source for most of Ellen's new spells)
  19. You would get some strange side effects given that we're talking about DD clones. Rose would have the ability to turn other people into short, busty pink-haired girls wearing yellow tops and light blue skirts. This patreon pic from November would then become possible though not by kissing and retro-kissing as Dan suggested at the time. Cheerleadra would have the ability to turn other people into Cheerleadras.

  21. Story Wednesday March 8, 2017

Something in plain sight just became conscious. Diane has changed her "look" drastically. Stereotype-Diane used to dress sexy/skanky to entice boys to spend money on her and her friends. She's not doing it anymore or at least isn't this Monday. That seems to signal a state of mind change.
  22. Story: Friday 24 Feb 2017

IIRC the official language of the Koran is ancient Arabic. When people memorize Koran verses, they are rote-memorizing passages in a language they do not understand and are not trained to understand. The cleric tells them what it means.

Pity the dolphin that had to mix with the orca... Technically Orcas are really big dolphins straight out of the shrinkwrap...
