The first one - The Alloy of Law.
  2. Story, Friday January 5, 2018

Even better: Making the bullet bigger inside the barrel. Now that would make quite a boom. I though the boom from making the bullet bigger inside the cylinder would be similar as inside the barrel. The thing is stopping the bullet with her maybe-not-really-solid body and just stop it in mid-air would be equivalent under immortal law. So, if she actually dives between the gun and Adrian, she's going for dramatic effect.
  3. NP, Friday January 5, 2018

That wouldn't work as you can use card on someone else than you, therefore the text must take that into account.
  4. Story, Friday January 5, 2018

Extremely unlikely. Adrian is obviously more dangerous and he will have just one opportunity for complete surprise like this ; even if he WOULD plan to kill both, he would kill Adrian first and Gullet after.
  5. Story, Friday January 5, 2018

Not sure what is this actually shooting but yes: purely mechanical therefore more likely to work as summoned weapon. I'm starting to think some upgrade of regulations of firearms in US might be beneficial ... but in this case yes: her mother would definitely approve buying a gun to feel safer from men if the news in EGS universe are anything like the news in ours. OR if the cleanup of one of the incident will keep the factor that she was in danger. (Come to think about it, Ellen was officially threatened by stalker from her past ; noone will raise eyebrow if she buys gun saying she has unofficial information that he may be released from jail or that he escaped. Except Edward of course, as he would be implied as source of that info.) Regardless. He may be convinced to build one if he perceives the thread as serious enough, but he will still question if it doesn't make him too much like Lord Tedd and that puts the bar on how serious the thread needs to be. Currently, Tedd feels his dad is not on his side - and he may be right ; DGB is DEFINITELY not on his side with Arthur Arthur in head and Edward doesn't seem to realize it. Sure, when Edward was the head, this would be best option, EXCEPT back then the threat was not so serious. Finally, unlike Susan, I'm sure Tedd can develop magical weapons MORE dangerous than grenade launchers. (And, as I keep repeating, there are multiple realistic reasons while summoned firearm may not work ; sure, Dan can just say it works, but until then ...) (Similarly, Noriko may have spells which makes carrying grenade launcher with her needless.)

... unless it literally can't be played with men involved. Remember the other defaults?
  7. Story, Friday January 5, 2018

That light is definitely not forced reset, there was no light in Paris. It may, however, be the REASON for forced reset. Like, AoE anti-aberration spell she used to save Raven. And Sirleck literally dodged that by being out of range.
  8. Story, Friday January 5, 2018

Which aberrations was concerned about Nanase and Tedd? Aberrations are only concerned about people with summoning talent like Diane and Susan. He did. TF Gun. He wasn't aware he actually need something like that, AND would consider it too Lord Tedd. Also, multi-target is not as effective as AoE. Avada Kedavra stops looking so cool if you compare it with Dragon Slave. Noriko didn't shown with any weapon in comics unless you count agent Wolf description. As legendary monster hunter, I'm sure she has more firepower than she needs - otherwise she would be DEAD. She may even have so much firepower she can afford to keep style. "Monster" is not really category in EGS. Aberrations, however, are vulnerable to summoned weapons. If the inability to summon firearms is more general than just Susan, swords and crossbows can be more effective than machine guns ... especially if those are repeater crossbow.

Yes, definitely. Wait, how is Catalina nurse? Isn't she still in school? I'm not sure if that "Cowgirl!" is supposed to be what the card is, or what the end result is on Ashley. Ashley doesn't actually read the card out loud, and whenever Dan or Hanma talk about it, they say "Cow Form" (at least, in the handful of strips and commentaries I bothered to check; I could have missed something). Still, if it was specifically a "cowgirl" form that would solve the problem. As for "busty", it wouldn't necessarily have to change the sex of male-bodied players; men can have breasts. On the other hand, Dan does like his sex-change TFs, so I could see him using the card as an excuse for one... I'm not entirely sure Dan spend at least this much time thinking about how the game would be played with men involved. ... or, in-universe, Hanma. It's not random, it's whoever is the most attractive. Well, most attractive to the Golden Cheerleader, specifically; I suppose there are cards with targetted attraction bonuses? It might be random when there are no attractivity bonuses are in play.
  10. Story, Friday January 5, 2018

It MIGHT be the time for whatever light Sirleck and Magus saw, assuming they spend lot of time discussing it afterwards. IF she could affect the bullet inside the gun, making it just little bigger would be much better idea I don't think she's good enough to target the bullet in fly. Most often, the one with element of surprise wins. Also, is it really legal for someone who is not considered adult enough to drink alcohol to own gun? Seems you need to be 21 to carry one in Illinois. Sure, it's unlikely anyone except her mother would notice she has one in her chest, and maybe not even her mother, but it still seems like something Susan wouldn't do. Unless it would be part of plan to ATTRACT all vampire hunters into the area and effectively start war. Which the vampires would probably lose.
  11. Story, Friday January 5, 2018

Are we sure Grace isn't as fast as Nanase? Apparently Grace seems faster than Cheerleadra since Grace was the first on scene when Not_Tengu fell, and I would figure that Cheerleadra would be faster than Nanase. Though I'm sure Nanase's Guardian Form is faster than both, but just normal flight might not be. ... I see I forgot to mention that but yes I meant Nanase in guardian form. I suspect the bullet would pass through her unless she break the law, just like she passed through the table and just like Ashley could've passed through Voltaire ... What about Sarah and Tedd? Puting aside the question how could Susan obtain stuff like that legally, it is likely summoned pistol will not work correctly. Also, the cast is not THAT much targeted. The vampires are here just because Sirleck paid them. Without that, it's unlikely some vampire would bother finding and killing Susan - unless they met randomly, of course. AND it seems that scarf vampire is exception, with most vampires relying more on magic than technology ... no matter how stupid that may seem looking at this page. For aberrations is presumably easier to obtain black market weapons than for Susan, but they are still unlikely to obtain enough explosives to level whole city. The mall, yes, but city? You would need nuclear weapons for that, and THOSE are quite well controlled. (And it's possible DGB has someone who can "see" all nuclear weapons in whole city.)
  12. Story Monday January 1, 2018

Ah, but the little space guy is shown with what is clearly a hand-held phaser-type gun, so even if the name passed, the picture probably wouldn't. I suspect that generally they would have hard time applying the trademark on any picture, no matter how obviously it's accompanied with the "phaser" name. What the trademark is usable for is to prevent other company producing and selling toys named phaser. Of course, IANAL.
  13. Story, Friday January 5, 2018

I don't know if it's different with another accent, but in my accent, noise and toys rhyme. ... well I'm not native speaker so recognizing rhymes is harder for me. It still doesn't seem like good poem to me but it's true noise and toys do rhyme in my accent too ... (Also, it's funny he mentions "fire and noise" as related to magic then use weapon which makes lot of fire and noise.) I know. As much as the good guy, it's the audience ourselves. I know I'm not the only one who was so focused on magic stuff that I completely forgot about such mundane things as guns. We presumably survive and don't learn anything In lot of shows, guns never appear despite the technology level implying they would be available. While guns already appeared in EGS, were mentioned and Adrian himself (!) even fired one, it's easy to forgot that EGS is not one of those shows, with magic being used much more often. Well ... that Adrian firing was 2012, almost 6 years ago.

Just because he hurt Grace, killed her father, imprisoned her grandfather, and made her sibling do terrible things? I'm pretty sure he killed much more people than just Grace's father, but yes, this would suffice. (In fact, at least one and probably both Noah's parents were killed by Damien, and Edward specifically mentioned Damien killed "all the scientists inside") (I also wouldn't object to throwing that weight in ocean after attaching it to Damien.)
  15. Story Monday January 1, 2018

... in fact, would their "handheld toy" trademark apply on working weapon?
  16. Story, Friday January 5, 2018

... what poem? I don't see anything rhyming on the page. I prefer triumph of combination, but generally I like when someone who ignores technology and only counts with magic learns how bad idea it was. Unfortunately this time it's the good guy and the learning experience might be fatal either for him or his mother. It is possible that the protection spell he's using against the fire is not protecting his back. Yup, seems like prediction now ... But, remember if she does it it will kill her. Specifically, reset improperly. I'm hoping for exploding Fairy. Would be nice, but I suspect Susan is still distracted by Koala vampire. And Diane isn't likely to have anything capable of protecting against guns. While this may not be last encounter with vampires main eight has, yes, it might make sense for Grace to show up. And, in fact, her question might be directly related to Helena and Demetrius contacting her. Grace can fly. Not as fast as Nanase, likely, but Nanase is presumably far away. Also, Noah can fly ... but he likely can't stop bullet in other way than with his own body (but, unlike Diane doing that, Pandora might not save him). And he managed to hit Friday with it!

Oh. In that case he may have a personal 16-ton weight attached to his leg by means of a heavy steel chain. I'm not sure why "in that case" but I'm not going to object to attaching a weight to Damien anyway.
  18. Story Monday January 1, 2018

Just an tangentially related note. Companies can and some times do let Copyright violations fly. Trademarks, on the other hand, have to be defended tooth and nail against all violations. In that case, Xerox would be more dangerous than Paramount ... wait. It is trademarked. CBS Studios Inc. Still, this was apparently let be.

Checked Patreon. Not even there. In theory Skunks don't smell bad, they just spray other animals with a foul perfume. This is just speculation, but I suspect that when they spray others they may sometimes get some of the scent on themselves as well. Of course, they try not to spray when they can avoid it, so most skunks would still smell fine most of the time. Yup, that's what I meant. On the other hand ... we have fox and dog here. Even if the way Susan is smelling didn't changed because of the card, saying she doesn't smell at all is not exact. She does and if the fox and dog form affect/enhances sense of smell, they can smell her.
  20. NP Wed Jan 03 2018

Confirmed that having big breasts was not what Susan liked on the cow form ... Hmmm ... I'm not sure, would smelling magically really trigger her "allergy"? Of course it would be triggered if she would actually have some smelling substance somewhere, but I don't think that would be part of the mechanics even if the smell will be. Also, do skunk actually smell normally? I think it only smells when deliberately spraying someone ... (Also, still no in-story explanation why Rhoda used more cards than necessary. Although the way she explained the effects, it almost implies she deliberately wanted opposite effect on Susan.)

I wouldn't waste even a bathtub from the Titanic on him. Wait, I though that was from Damien's viewpoint.
  22. Story, Wednesday January 3, 2018

Gooood, I was actually afraid the Koala vampire attack will succeed ... Or throwable hammer. I think if she was capable of summoning an axe rather than another sword, she probably would have, but Dan made it sound like the hammer was Susan's only other option so her summoning the bane is still restricted to one weapon from her chest at a time. Didn't trained the spell enough, probably. What's worse, I suspect Susan will need to whack Koala guy repeatedly to keep him down ... It's something she should at least try anyway. Even if the stun hammers have different weight distribution, it should be easier for her to learn how to effectively use warhammer than sword. The fairies are likely different spell now, while summoning sword still use original spell. Well, mostly, it does have durability upgrade ... Might be that summoning another weapon immediately unsummon previous one. Not good idea just now. I see it in commentary.
  23. Story Monday January 1, 2018

Copyrights don't apply to temporary magical copies. Mainly because DGB made sure noone in copyright industry knows about magic. Perhaps more importantly, they might not be happy with Dan making use of an item from Star Trek as more than a quick gag. You think that wouldn't be fair use?
  24. Story Monday January 1, 2018

Probably would be something between in difficulty. Putting out an eye with magical weapon might be lethal for vampire.
  25. Story Monday January 1, 2018

I would suppose gun is still too hard - not only the durability of bullet, but also the powder itself. Crossbow, on the other hand ... or anything else which uses purely mechanical energy to fire. Like some nerf gun? Against vampires, it doesn't matter so much how fast it's flying when it hits them.
