Just wanted to comment on the level of art that Dan is putting out these days.   What jumped out at me from this particular strip is the composition and flow of the first four panels, as the focus and perspective shift to emphasize the interchange between Ellen and Sirleck.  I'm always impressed with the way Dan draws, but this set of panels was just something else.

I was thinking that Sirleck never got around to possessing either awakened or mages, perhaps sticking to people with money, a nice outward sign of a successful host.  He might simply have never gotten around to looking for a magic-user who might actually have greater than normal magic resistance.  And Ellen, who is magical in origin, does have an advantage in magic resistance as has been pointed out.
In my headcanon, it's just because she is a bad ass.  Cause you know, Bad Assery is a separate stat you can have, and comes into play at special dramatic moments.
Well, we know that the child of two mages, according to Pandora, is almost certainly another mage, but we don't know what the child of a mage and a Tulougol Seyunolu will be.  We don't even know for sure how Grace can procreate (perhaps two different ways?) or if she inherited Mr. Guyur's ability to create eggs without a mate.  Heck, for all we know, if Grace and Tedd want to ensure a mage child, they might be able to include DNA from a third donor, or it might be moot (might turn out that the child of a mage and a Tulougol Seyunolu will be mage always).  Or the child might be more like Grace, who is herself a very powerful, important person.

Well I would expect that knowing that Magus was only acting on the guidance of an Immortal might make Ellen have some forgiveness for Magus. Magus really had no other choice since he wasn't in any position to ask Elliot for help himself.

Back on the subject of Ellen's ability to fight Sirleck, it could be foreshadowed that Ellen could do so way back at Grace's birthday when she was able to resist Magus' attempt to manipulate her into zapping Elliot and instead, redirected her beam at Tedd. Dan might not have thought of that, but it would make it seem plausible that Ellen wouldn't be easily manipulated because of that. It also wouldn't surprise me if Dan did think of that and we'll have Magus mention that he gave Sirleck the idea of possessing Ellen, believing that Ellen was capable of fighting Sirleck long enough for Magus to recover from the diamond and then properly deal with Sirleck.

Holy crap, I can't believe I only just realized this!
Magus said Helena and Demetrius were hounding him, even following him to France.  Following him.
Then, they get distracted by the Aberration that went after Susan, and then they got forcibly reset at some point after that.
The two of them showed up back in Moperville, and started following Elliot around, even though they had no idea why they were doing so.
Of course they didn't know why -- they were following the wrong version!
Magus and Elliot are duplicates from alternate universes.  Magus is a version of Elliot, Elliot is a version if Magus.  In their recently-improperly-reset befuddlement, the first version they came across was Elliot, and they vaguely recalled that they'd bern following this guy, but since he wasn't an Aberration or any other sort of "didn't belong here," they assumed it was to protect him.
Makes sense to me, at least!

Those lights weren't the signal or else they'd be too late to indicate that Helena and Demetrius are distracted, also those lights being the signal would have indicated that Sirleck knew about the aberration nuke spell, but Pandora said that it was a spell that no mortal could get, and now that I think of it, might be considered the Ultimate Bane from which Pandora's descendants get their affinity from.
No, the original signal was to tell the vampires to attack and we never saw what that signal was, Sirleck might have just assumed that once the attack was under way then Elliot would be cleared for zapping. And it's likely he was risking it by assuming, but again maybe Helena and Demetrius let him and we're about to find out soon where they've been this whole time. Heck maybe there's been a miscommunication about which Immortals were spotted at the mall, if say Scarf Guy reported back to Sirleck that he's spotted 2 Immortals at the mall, Sirleck would assume it'd be the Immortals that he needed to be distracted, but in reality it was Pandora and Zeus that were seen, not Helena and Demetrius.

A reasonable assumption, but not that helpful. Sirleck's real protection is hiding off the material plane while possessing a victim. What is really needed is both a way to see Sirleck and hurt him. Eye-lasers would be neat, but it could be as simple as allowing Elliot to hit or grab any part of Sirleck he can see.
If Dan wants to be really fancy, he can borrow a power I gave one of my OC Sailormoon characters. Kimi Moon can see just about anything with her magic third eye, share her vision with others, and allow others to channel their powers through her eye.

Since the diamond is destroyed, then Abraham will have no need to atone for it's creation any longer. If he is nearby and gets involved, I'm hoping he helps remove Sirleck from Ellen. I imagine when he comes out of stone form he'll do the usual modern knowledge/garb thing and realize only months have passed, then he'll do whatever he did to discern who touched the diamond and realize that it was the same aura as the last time and really wonder what the heck is going on.

The simplest explanation for the empty parking lot is that it's always empty, or always empty at night. It's supposed to look easy to get into. There isn't a fence between Magus and the warehouse when he peers at it from behind what looks like another building, or maybe a big sign.
BTW, it's never been stated that either Magus or Sirleck have ever been to the place before. Magus mentioned the unlocked window on the first floor in back they always leave open, but he didn't say he's used it. Magus didn't have to be in the Warehouse when the guard was bribed or when Elliot touched the Dewitchery Diamond. Sirleck could have bribed the guard without coming to the site, and received information from the guard before making full payment on the bribe.
Magus could have visited the site at any time, of course, since he was invisible until tonight, thoroughly scouted it, and even seen the trap working. The same applies to Pandora, who gave Magus the whole idea. And if the parking lot was always or nearly always empty, Magus wouldn't have seen anything unusual tonight. But Ashley has never been to this place before.

I know, I borrowed a friend's Gremlin way back in the Seventies. It was a sawed-off Hornet that got terrible mileage and had terrible handling. However, I don't think Gremlins were particularly prone to bursting into flames, or coming already rusted new and having aluminum-block engines that overheated and warped.

No, he was kidnapped along with Arthur Dent by the Vogons.

That may not be a problem. One of the ways to get the necessary two Elliots and two Ellens would be for the Dewitchery Diamond to create more than one new body since there is arguably one more "curse" involved. A new Ellen could result as well as a new body for magus. Maybe their powers would be mixed up, too. Counting Magus in his new body as a second Elliot (Magus told Ashley he was his universe's version of  Elliot), the second Ellen could be more or less identical to the first, or with Magus' memories as well as Elliot's pre-Ellen Prime memories. Or some other variation. There might be more than one Cheerleadra after the big split, and Ellen Mark Two won't be knocked out.
Of course, of course video of the two Cheerleadras flying together will find their way onto the web, and there goes Elliot's alibi...

Maybe not. Magus and Sirleck both have wanted to get to this place for a long time, although for different reasons. Ashley had never heard of this place until tonight (remember, Ashley didn't know that Ellen was created by the Dewitchery Diamond until Magus' told her tonight) . What's keeping Ashley here at all (she could just step through that window now; there's no glass in it) is her concern for Elliot and Ellen.

Back when I was ridding a bike to work I was convinced that about 1/3 of all cars were, in fact, demons from hell.
Now that I am walking I'm thinking the number is closer to 1/6th, with the others being just driven by morons.

Hmm. Like Christine? I think evil cars may fit the Aberration parameters: No longer human (cars aren't human except in Pixar movies and Chevron ads). And having driven a monstrous 1971 Plymouth Fury myself (I called it "Godzilla")...

But... but then he won't ever meet his Madamleck so they can have their happily ever after
I wonder what they might read.
    "Battlefront 2 Loot Box."
"Stored by request of Pandora*, please return unopened."
*The actual one, not one of the 243243243423423 Immortals calling themselves that.
A sign reading "This side up", right at the bottom.
"Do Not Open On Any Account. No Really Don't. We Mean It. We Are Serious. Don't Come Afterwards And Tell Us We Didn't Warn You."
"Odd tape containing 18½ minutes of some guy named Richard rambling about how much he hates stuff."
    And so forth.

That may happen yet. Patience. I was well past thirty by the time I finally met my wife-to-be, a magnificent and brilliant woman who continues to inspire me every day of my life. A word of advice: once you find that one, tell them. It will be worth it.
Pffft. Comedy is all well and good but it is not the be all end all. Obnoxiousness is.

Often in my work, I feel like Mat Cohen at the Uniform Assembly.
Supposedly in a position of authority, I am actually just a mouthpiece for a higher authority.  And whether or not I agree with, or even understand, the decisions of the higher authority is utterly irrelevant.

Isn't it peculiar that Voltaire was so sure Seers weren't as rare as he thought? How did he even know Tedd was a Seer? Now Voltaire not being as smart as he thought he was could explain it, although adding laziness and overconfidence to the mix would be a better recipe. But Pandora didn't know Tedd was a Seer until Heka told her, and she was inhumanly smart when she put her mind to it.
Here's an alternative theory: Immortals (formerly known as "Fairies") don't have an inborn ability to detect Seers. Voltaire must have learned about Seers from some source that wasn't an Immortal like himself. If this source is human in origin, at least a few of Voltaire's "toys" may have some very, very sharp knives in their toybox because they have some magic spells the Immortals don't.
I wonder if Edward has one of those knives?

I'll take a moment to say I could be wrong about Adrian being Van's father, and if I come across as jumping on everyone who says he might not be, that's because I think I'm probably right... and because I love playing the devil's advocate.
That said, here's what might be an actual new idea: Maybe Noriko always was attracted to Adrian, and it was only because Adrian pushed her onto Edward that she married Edward. Even if Adrian never did sleep with Noriko, he could feel even more guilt about Tedd.
Seems like a stretch to me, but he is a horndog and he has (or had) the money to travel to Europe. And where did Susan get her magic from? Likely from her father, so Mr. Horndog could be a wizard or a monster hunter or both, and if he is and Noriko knows he is, he'd be a good candidate for Noriko if she was trying to do her duty of continuing the family line of monster hunters. Noriko might actually have been married to him when she conceived Van, which sounds like a dandy excuse for future plot points. Hmmm. Seem to be arguing with myself. Well, far from the first time.

Oh, man, now I'm picturing the look on Sarah's face when she tries to cast her spell and it doesn't work.  She'll know it means either the blockage is gone, or at least that she's cleared away enough magic that it can be removed, and she won't be able to use magic any more.  And then when she first hears that Pandora/Box is "dead"....
Yes, this is the DGB, in a comic written by someone who was barely able to kill two characters so far, one of them totally evil and the other only just introduced a couple of comics beforehand.  Dan is not writing that kind of story.
Um....wow.  What can I say, except that your head is a scary place to live.
