Okay, I saw Arthur changing his mind, but I did not see Magic disagreeing.

I knew that was the case the moment we learned how much she liked genderbending transformations. -
This thread is for all your thoughts on how EGS changed and developed over the years. I'll start. From the beginning, Ellen was a female duplicate of Elliot. Reading the comic today, it's all too easy to forget that because the two act like actual brother and sister. Hell, if new readers started reading from Bringing Silly Back, they'd probably be surprised by all the mentions of Ellen being a duplicate, or attribute that to a weird way of saying twins.

The Emissary says Uryuom power is magic, just a different set of rules than humans, and too intrinsic to their nature for the rules to change: http://www.egscomics.com/index.php?id=1833 But we're still calling them Main 8 since they're the 8 Edward is willing to share info with.
-
Yeah. The main 8 distinction is becoming less and less important, particularly with Diane's and Ashley's ascension.
-
If there are no humans, there goes a source of drama.
-
Magic could realise the futility of keeping secrets on its own.
-
Edward was Kicked Upstairs and replaced by Arthur in between Sister 2 and Bringing Silly Back. The watches weren't introduced until afterwards. If Edward filed the reports, then it was while Arthur was in charge.
-
It's also possible Arthur didn't read the reports where the watches and what they do were disclosed.
-
What were your thoughts on Diane bringing that up?
-
Okay, I can buy most of this, except knowing that Pandora would take advantage of the connection. Zeus was surprised that Pandora did, so how would Voltaire know? He was always on Arthur's radar. Pandora said that Edward has been using full disclosure to protect Tedd and friends from even bigger government scrutiny. That being said, the protection afforded by the full disclosure thing might be lost. Actually, as per the commentary on when that was brought up, Pandora being framed is not the only reason why they have issues. Remember Abraham?

And it turns out, it wasn't quite a butt face, it just did what Seers always told it to do.

http://www.egscomics.com/index.php?id=2334 http://www.egscomics.com/index.php?id=2254 I think we have a good idea of what he wants. He's frustrated by the limits of Immortals, and clearly wants them gone, or irrelevant. He also definitely wants Magic to change, given he tried to traumatise Tedd who wants Magic to be public. We can see how he intended to achieve the Magic change, though I'm not sure how what he did ties into the "last straw for Immortals" thing since the forced spell casting was up to Pandora and something he couldn't reasonably predict.
-
Unforseen indeed. I doubt Voltaire was prepared for this either. I wonder what he thinks of what Pandora did? If his plan failed, do you think he'd attribute it to Pandora being so overt in killing Aberrations that Magic threw its hands into the air and gave up any notion of secrecy, or because Tedd wasn't as traumatised as he thought, again, because of Pandora?
-
http://www.egscomics.com/index.php?id=2335 Well, the revelation was foreshadowed by Heka. He said that Tedd was far from the only one even if Seers are a rarity among rarities.
-
Wonder how he's going to explain to his boss that his plan failed?
-
Looks like Tedd is appealing to the futility of keeping magic secret argument.
-
http://www.egscomics.com/index.php?id=1710 Mentioned in that Q&A.
-
I don't think it's that. Admittedly, I'm having trouble coming up with what else we know that they don't.
-
If he was, wouldn't he be aware of his status of Seer then? Wizard actually, but I see your point.
-
Arthur's belief that every Seer would keep quiet is laughable.

Look how happy the Kitty is. -
I think the main disqualification factor is knowing you could talk with Magic if it's considering a change. Tedd didn't know it, Arthur didn't know it, and we have no reason to think Van knew it, therefore, all three were eligible.
-
This part is outright called "The Fate of Magic", and it's also well into the Sister 3 storyline. From another Doylist point-of-view, it's likely this will be resolved in this part without continuing into another part. Whatever arguments Arthur makes, Tedd has likely heard them and argued over with his dad several times. I'm sure he can come up with something.
-
Allow me to guess some of Tedd's arguments: - Every seer will be told of their status and purpose in the event of a severe change. If those seers decide to not keep it secret, the whole point of the severe change is undermined. - Even if those seers are willing to be secretive, what about the people they teach? You can't control that many people.
