Comic for Friday, August 26, 2022 Tedd as the voice of reason is weird, because it is such a shift in trajectory without a discernible causal event. He's been doing it for a while, it seems to be an outgrowth of his modding and hardware savvy, but might be due to working with guinea pig minions such as Sarah, and being put in awkward situations often enough to develop some sense of accountability. He's right, and ultimately more helpful than Grace. Grace's positive point of view would leave Elliot wondering; Tedd nailed it and Elliot can move on to dealing with a new perspective. I guess the shadowy figure says this wisdom is something that took tangible form through Tedd's interactions with Arthur. Is there a back story, or have we already seen it? Tedd's interactions with Arthur have not been particularly unpleasant. Hmm, he didn't even need to thwack Elliot. Kudos, kid! Grace came close, but doesn't quite see it. Either that, or Arthur has invasive mind control capabilities. He's out of his body and speaking through Tedd. That would also explain the change, and maybe why Jay doesn't get along with him.

Comic for Wednesday, August 24, 2022 Part of Grace is also briefly visible. Emo Elliot displays angst and inconsistency with how he is often portrayed. For a dude who is often willing to step into a fight, he sure isn't willing to step into a fight. As Liam said, he did the right thing. There is no reason to doubt that now. Had he not done so, things would have gone badly. The last two panels make even less sense, sorry. Best explanation - they raided the beer in the fridge. Punting a rabbit into orbit is too weird. If you assume a similar gravitation as our Earth, you wouldn't begin to come close, and the structural integrity of the bunny carcass would be insufficient to allow it. But substitute your much hated small critter in the statement, and it might be funny, rather than cowardly. It doesn't seem much worse that zapping flies and mosquitoes. Speaking of dead critters, this horse seems beat to death already. My only conclusion is that Elliot is such a Boy Scout that Evileadra isn't even evil.

Comic for Monday, August 22, 2022 Comic does not meaningfully advance the story. Yelling over the phone can apparently distort glasses. Who knew? I wonder at this point how 'read in' Elliot's parents are. "#%@!" seems to say they know quite a bit of detail.

Comic for Friday, July 22, 2022 Take the time you need, Dan, we'll survive. Grace is definitely part alien, she does not think quite like every body else.

https://www.patreon.com/posts/tall-magical-68152554 I'm assuming this will be this weekend's sketchbook; if so the link will probably be https://www.egscomics.com/sketchbook/2022-008 (but as of this writing it isn't up yet). I like Tedd's look (including the outfit) here. Also, yay for the star-filled background!

Comic for Wednesday March 9, 2022 I read Grace's overly positive attitude (given that the experienced folks have concerns) as foreshadowing trouble involving her. We do not know the griffins' attitudes regarding such hybrids, they may view them as aberrations. They may have a war going on with their aliens. They may know Grace is a counterpart to General Shade Tail, and have a major problem with that. Or, it could be that Edward and Elliot's lack of trust is an issue. I'm glad that this meeting is happening and moving the plot along.

Comic for Wednesday February 16, 2022 Perky squirrel! Edward seems to have a personality change in this comic, looses his opinions. Maybe not a bad thing? Most of the comic is Tedd stressing about talking to their dad.

Comic for Monday, February 14, 2022 I think this is the first time Edward's met Ashley, and he didn't skip a beat. Neither did she. I am assuming glow lines around Grace only indicate emotion, not actual glowing. Looking forward to some Edward exposition next comic. I hope he explains why he is so afraid of the griffins. We are not likely to see why in-comic, unless it ends badly, which is not a thing in EGS. Also, for the griffins, they could bring Kevin along for safety. It the griffins begin behaving aggressively, they deploy Kevin, the griffins die laughing, and everyone is safe (except said griffins).

Comic for Wednesday January 26, 2022 But what if griffins view squirrels as prey? Wasn't sure how to tag Grace, came up with a solution, Grace, in case anyone searches for her using the tags, and Shade Tail, her name for this form.

Comic for Monday January 24, 2022 Edward needs new glasses. Only the right lens is working. I really want to know more about Elliot's parents.

Comic for Wednesday January 19, 2022 His glasses are still tracking his expression. That must be one optically complex spell.

Comic for Wednesday January 12, 2022 I'm pretty sure I'm a minority, but I don't like where this went for Elliot. Being a vigilante is not generally a good thing. The problem is people with shoddy moral compasses cast themselves in the role, and rationalize how the insane crap they are doing is somehow justified for the greater good. And we happen to be just past the anniversary of the perfect illustration. Granted, every now and then you get a genuine hero willing to stand up for others in genuine peril. Elliot is genuinely starting from there. But he is a kid, portrayed as not having a deep grasp on social interaction, in this comic and in previous, to some extent in the entire run of the comic. I wonder if his folks didn't introduce him to martial arts primarily for the structure and rules.

Story Friday December 17, 2021 Tedd mostly being a bit dense due to humility, then getting it. I don't think he's actually glowing in the final panel, but it has been mentioned that he's glowed before.

Comic for Monday December 13, 2021 'Bzzzt Bzzzt' seems like an odd ring tone, not distinctive, easy to miss. My phone goes 'Bzzzt' often, and I associate it with 'Not important'. I agree with Tedd, homework is overdone. Just because some is good does not mean more is better. That, of course assumes education is the goal. If breaking the spirit of the potential workforce is on the agenda, I can see the value of too much homework. Tedd's expression and stance in panel 1 seem un-Tedd-like. Tedd can be passive, thoughtful, exited, heatedly expository, but is rarely just grumpy. The stance is stiff and combative, which is also not a Tedd thing, usually. MUMBLE GRUMBLE is interesting, it's not punctuated, and how would you punctuate it? Dan separated it by bolding it. I just noticed that the characters speak in caps. Now I want to check if that is normal for comics; it probably is. It sure didn't stand out. So Mumble Grumble us to be read as a collective term for preface that we don't see of indeterminate length. It's a lot like Grace's voice tags, just there to show mood and intent. But a colon would have looked weird. Of all the facts that could be asserted to be certain truth, I don't think a single word evaluation of the character of Lancelot is in anyone's top five. Can you even be certain that you are talking about the same Lancelot?

This actually makes sense. In comic book terms, anyway. Or maybe in D&D terms. Lawful Good becomes Chaotic Evil. The idea of Chaotic Evil Cheerleadra is somehow both terrifying and sexy at the same time. Especially if she has 28 factorial points to work with.

Story Wednesday November 24, 2021 Arthur makes a good point, there are often more options available. I can't nay say his hypothetical job in another universe, but here, where we live, sometimes decisiveness and accepting your losses while pressing forward counts for something. In the long run, though, it does lead to evil being done. A way to look at it; successful generals are not universally loved. Crappy generals do even more damage.

https://www.egscomics.com/comic/balance-086 Well, that's gonna take some of the bang out of this thread . . . . . If someone has hurt or violated the rights of another person, then the powers that be are justified in punishing the first person. At least they would want to keep tabs on that person and limit their rights But what if that person has the ability to hurt or violate the rights of another, but has not yet done so? What if that person does not yet have that ability but could develop that ability?

https://www.egscomics.com/comic/balance-084 I suspect that Arthur learned the ideals of Freedom working as an apprentice in Ben Franklin's print shop Right up until the day he told his boss to "go fly a kite"
-
https://www.egscomics.com/comic/balance-078 Arthur does not seem all that threatening. What's with Tedd's deer in the headlight eyes? Also the 'I had your job' dig seems odd.

https://www.egscomics.com/comic/balance-074 The Bronze Age Collapse always seemed a bit Deus ex machina There were half a dozen advanced civilizations stretching across Eastern Asia, India, the Middle East, North Africa, and the Mediterranean, and within a single century they have all regressed almost to the Stone Age? I'm sure there are plenty of plausible scenarios that can account for this. But the possibility that someone playing the Game of Earth hit "Reset" is also plausible So are the Uryuom People responsible?

https://www.egscomics.com/egsnp/blanket-10 Will Sarah do something? Will she just sit there? Will Dan end this story before we know any significant details?

https://www.egscomics.com/comic/balance-068 The start of Balance, part 3 Or what should have been Part Not 2-B So has Tedd simply been swayed by the nice grandfather figure with a fancy gift? Or is Tedd realizing that if others have different (even opposing) beliefs, goals, and methods to your own, they can still be good people?

https://www.egscomics.com/egsnp/blanket-07 Will Grace ever understand that most people can not consider things like nudity or intimate closeness without implying sexuality?
