Comic for Monday, Dec 11, 2023 Panel 1: Dreams look like sugar cookies with star shaped sprinkles. It is raining cookies. I'm not sure if 'Elliot' in panel 2 is Elliot; the hair looks like Elliot, but the figure is wearing a neck tie, which suggests he is not Elliot. Maybe he is Elliot looking for a job near campus, and is dressed for an interview? Speaking of cookies, Rich in panel 4 gets a cookie. However, the text says his being correct is random. It is not. Rich's point of view about anomalies is like a stuck clock, per the saying, "A stopped clock is right twice a day" (twelve hour clock, with no AM/PM indicator; these are common among old school dial clocks.) Rich is correct because the circumstances matched his normal biased canned speech explanation. To be random, he would had to have selected from among alternatives, and then hit the correct explanation. George Carlin did this well. "Tonight's weather will be dark, followed by more dark, with gradual lightening in the morning." Arthur arguing against a rational explanation is odd, but perhaps he has an actual sense that this is anomalous, perhaps something tied to being a seer. However, during the Parable dream, Arthur was not present as the NPC that looked like Arthur; that NPC was dismissed when Mist dismissed the NPCs (and Jay got upset). So (back to panel 1) apparently various dreams were shared by different people, not just the one in the Parable NP arc. If that's true, Mist getting his magic stuck in Jays was a one time thing out of many invasive shared dreams. It seems odd that he only found Rhoda, not Nanase nor Edward. Perhaps, even with many dreams, Mist's overall coverage was weak? If he only connected a few people each time, only for one night, that seems quite possible. A bit of speculation, the griffin side outlaws 'tech' - perhaps they are stuck in a middle ages lifestyle? High death rate during child birth, slower population growth? Maybe Mist has no clue how many people a town in the EGS universe has?

Comic for Monday, May 8, 2023 I see the plot here. Rather than introducing new professors as cast, Dan is promoting former mentor figures to professorships. Is George next? He has some edjumacation something going on . . . Greg I could see as well. So, what is Susan's GPA? Should be fairly high, although she does have a job and the review show. And shenanigans. Magic shenanigans.

Comic for Friday, May 5, 2023 I'm not getting why the person on the other end of the phone (old school phone!) would think that Arthur's recruits would be good professors. It seems like in general there would not be a high positive correlation between having magic skill and doing well academically. In fact, having magic skill might be a reason to cut corners, though, yes, we have a few obvious exceptions. Adrian Raven being able, willing, and more or less available was a fluke, and he has good reason to not cooperate with Arthur. It seems it might be easier to buy a building near the campus for a lab rather than put up with her nonsense in exchange for the donated space. Or, as is often done, fund an on-campus facility, thereby avoiding the notion that the school is providing the facility. Arthur, for his part, seems to have decent human instincts about how to treat others, but seems too willing to compromise them 'to get the job done' (i.e. cutting corners), and ends up being manipulative, albeit somewhere below the pure @##hole level. I'm not seeing what he gains by not communicating with Susan; he knows she know Tedd and Edward, so hes probably aware that she knows about his organization existing, and of course she's already aware of magic. At the very least, if he talked to her, he could provide some developmental guidance. He should have picked up on her dad is not in her life. Figuring out why an immortal is Susan's ally was pretty sharp. OTOH, she apparently already provided useful intel to Arthur, and he's discounting her ability to further contribute. He's adequate, but not stellar in his position, which seems on the nose for 'in government service'. Sibyl is an interesting name to apply to a character. I wonder if that is intentional foreshadowing? She has yet to say anything outstanding, acting more as a reflector for Arthur's thoughts. I wonder if we've met the woman on the other end of the phone. Another question, we have not seen the source of Susan's mom's wealth. She seems like she's a professional at some job, not always home. Whatever she does, it appears to pay well. It is possible that she received a good divorce settlement, but that begs the question, "What, then, does Susan's father do?". It is also possible that it is inherited, but then Susan's family would likely be well known. I don't think Susan's mom is a university administrator, but it could be a possibility. She'd have to be high in the food chain for that kind of wealth.

Comic for Wednesday, May 3, 2023 It is a bit odd that Mr. Raven cooperated with Arthur, given their history. I don't think this comic is realistic; my impression is that there are generally more applicants for academic positions than positions, at least in liberal arts studies. Perhaps the university needs someone magic qualified? If he knows about the agency, then presumably he is also a magic user. Per the commentary, this is a university 'owner'. Again, also odd. Privately held schools of this sort are not usually held by an individual, at least not past the lifetime of a very wealthy founder; they'd have a board, and the head would be an appointee. They would typically be named for a person or religion or something abstract. State funded schools tend toward geographic names. There are exceptions.
