Have a wonderful Swans a swimming day. Unless you have Squabs swimming, Not sure what to say about that, but have a great day with the swimming birds regardless.

Squabs do not swim well.

I know that, but at least one version (Cole, Pamela McArthur (January–March 1900). "The Twelve Days of Christmas; A Nursery Song". Journal of American Folk-Lore. Boston: Houghton Mifflin. xiii (xlviii): 229–230.; ) list Squabs as the bird of the day.

Happy Maids a milking day! Some people think it's Ladies dancing day, and other think about hares or hounds a running. And even some think it's Boys a singing.

Have a great Ladies Dancing day. Also available: Drummers drumming, Lords a leaping , Lambs bleating and Bulls a roaring. Plus Bears a beating, what ever that is.

Random rock and roll, as is my norm when doing a bit of coding or writing.  What makes today worth noting is that Susan, my cat, really seems to like Classic Rock and Speed Metal, doing the cat with cat nip rolling around in front of the Chrome Book/music player.  I am amused.

Earlier this evening I heard some crickets that were not quite in synch with each other.

The rhythm almost perfectly matched "The Hustle".

Have insects evolved Disco?

Well, I hear they were behind El Cucaracha...

My random music, as per normal.  However what yanked my chain around was these two being played back to back.

Cognitive disconnect in full effect.

Did some driving this weekend, and listened to Car Talk and Wait Wait Don't Tell Me podcasts.

Car Talk is all reruns now, but there's so many years of shows they can keep doing reruns for a long time.  The only clue to when a show was made is the years given for the cars they talk about.  Do they react to the '94 Escort as if it's a fairly new car, or an antique?  Are parts getting hard to find for the '74 Gremlin?  (Were they ever not?)  Most of the fun of the show is the people, not the cars, and they don't change much.  Plus the Puzzler, of course, that's fun too, and they've been doing a good job of either putting them in order or splicing parts together so that they sound like they are.

Got a "last Unicorn vibe" from watching the video, never a bad thing.

It's raining so I drove my car to work listening to Jimmy Buffet's "Last Mango In Paris:"

So I finally dusted off my old RuneScape account that I haven't used since 2010-ish. They remixed and reorchestrated most of the music in the update from RuneScape 2 to RuneScape 3, and while I'm not a fan of what they did to "Sea Shanty II", most of it's a significant improvement.

Case in point: Harmony

(wow, nobody wanted to share their music for months?)

Anyway, I've had some Super Mario Odyssey music stuck in my head. Specifically, Fossil Falls, the music used for the Cascade Kingdom.

There's segments in the game where you go into a 2D plane and switch to 8-bit graphics. Usually when this happens, the normal background music is turned down and an 8-bit remix of the track is played. And it's no different for Fossil Falls. Take a listen.

Sometimes I think I don't like a certain musical genre, style, or instrumentation on principle, and then I hear a song or track from some movie or video game that changes my mind a little. I guess my musical preference is "whatever individual tracks I like" rather than "insert genre here".

In this case, it's techno. In listening to assorted Mega Man music for a personal project, I took a listen at the Mega Man 11 soundtrack. Two tracks in particular sound like they're perfect for a rave: Block Man Stage and Fuse Man Stage.

There are moments in the Fuse Man track that reminds me of Dr. Wily Stage 1 from Mega Man 2. I guess it would make sense that they would take inspiration from past games though.

Love that one!  It and the following were standards on The Midnight Special on WFMY when I was growing up.

We weren't in range of WFMT broadcasts, but my Dad used to get cable radio (yes, that was a thing) just so he could hear The Midnight Special every Saturday.  Three hours of "Show tunes and satire, folk music and farce, odds and ends, madness and escape" on a station that played classical music the rest of the week.
