I've noticed one problem regarding this forum upgrade: Our avatars don't seem to be animated anymore.

They work fine on profile pages, but when browsing through threads and posts, they remain completely still.

Is there a way to fix this, and is there any other feedback anyone has on these new forums?

There are a couple things that are still broken... The avatar window encourages us to post images that are 200x200 or bigger so they can be cropped, but there's apparently still a 50 KB filesize limit on them, and the forum shrinks them down to 100x100 anyway. (150x150 in profiles.) Overall, I'm not too pleased with the "tiny avatar - large text" aesthetic, but scaling everything down in my browser makes it all a lot better to look at. (Or maybe it's just Firefox... I'm told the forums look best in Chrome.)

The search function doesn't work. I get an error message when I try to use it.

Changing the theme causes several things to break. The forum really only functions with the new skin and none other. I suppose I can get used to it, but I can see how others might like to change the skin back to the way it was before the upgrade. Never mind. It seems the option to change to the old style is gone... :<

On the plus side, I do appreciate the triumphant return of Quick Edit and pop-up notifications. ^^ I missed those. They were broken in the previous version, and that made editing my posts and checking my PM inbox more difficult than they needed to be. Now they're easy again.

I dislike this skin immensely and want the old one. I've spent years without Facebook, don't want a forum that is identical to it.

I've not had all that many problems yet with the new setup here. It's confusing in places and less user-friendly, but not terrible... That said, return to our beloved, older style would be nice.

I've heard this is a temporary thing as the old style is currently broken, so I'll stay hopeful for that...

The recent mass-thread post for the arena has uncovered that when a thread is created in a sub-forum, it has a chance of also being posted to it's parent-forum... Well.. it happened twice, at least.

There's a tiny light switch icon on the top-left corner of the post borders (it's just above the bold button). Click on that and it'll return to the old style.

I'm not terribly thrilled about the changes - like Azzy, I definitely preferred the old avatar-to-text ratio - but it's still functional, and I can live with it.

It would be nice if the search function worked, though.

I'm not sure if that's what he meant. I just seems to change the appearance of the reply box. I know I'd rather go back to the display style before. This one is irritating.

Edit: It also appears to have killed my avatar. Bah!

I just noticed that the Wotch section and most of the comic sections still use the old skin, but it's warped and broken in places. Some of them are missing their banners/logos.

The EGS section uses the new skin, but it's missing the EGS banner/logo and several icons.

I don't like the new skin either. My avatar doesn't work. I can't find a way to get anything but quick posts. Big empty spaces of about a thumb joint to the left and to the right. The banners for adds and the 910cmx logo ain't on the same level and the blue of the ads by project wonderful text and the header hurt my eyes.

Ah, it's hidden behind a dropdown now. If'n you mouse o'er the thread, a downwards-pointing arrow appears within a circle. Click it to receive previews of the first post, last post and first unread post (if it isn't one of the other two) and links thereto.

(Edit: Just read the other thread. Hmm. Never thought to try to click on the stars and circles. Or... er... noticed their existence.)

Our avatar hasn't changed (it was only ever 100x100) but what is interesting is that profile pictures and avatars seem to no longer be separate.

I now see the stars in this forum and all others except in the EGS ones. The dropdown arrow works in all places, but I can't actually see it in the EGS forums, I just have to mouse around until I find it. Not sure why the EGS boards get the shaft, but since that's the boards I use, it's fairly annoying.

I must profess, I am not quite sure what button you refer to. I have always used the date on the right next to the name of the last poster to get to the newest post. Apparently the Blue Stars and Circles do something similar. Anyway, clicking the date on the right hand side will still get you the latest post from the thread... just remember not to click on the name of the person because that will instead send you to their profile page, like I have managed to do repeatedly because things aren't quite in the positions I remember.

Edit: The page updates automatically? I wrote out this post and found the post made one minute earlier placed above as I finished. Very cool feature if it does...

I'm not looking for the newest post, but for the first unread post. It's not a huge deal, since the dropdown arrow works, but it's an annoying bug.

The comic sections all have a lot of glitches afflicting them right now, Large. With the EGS section being the most heavily populated of them, I'm sure it will be the first to get fixed.

My posts turn into a giant block of text when I go into edit view. Additionally, I prefer to view all my formatting tags when creating a post but that editing mode causes it to just wrap words around the edge, leaving with with half on one line and then half on the next.

Plus, some of the post with heavier formatting (Like the Arena's Rules and Regulations thread) have had the formatting thrown off. And since it throws everything into a block of text when I open up edit view, fixing everything is going to be like pulling teeth.

Also, we can no longer to the subtitles for threads, which is a super pain as we took advantage of that in all Arena match topics to keep things organised. Tags are no where near as elegant or as simple to use, as the mess of them with the most recent tournament round's threads will indicate.

Overall this update has been a formatting nightmare for me and working in my section and I flit between rage and frustrations when I attempt to do anything more than just a simple post.

EDIT: Additionally! When I go into edit view and get said block of text, I'm not getting the entire contents of my post. Going in the edit my post in the fighter profile section I I lose everything after the first (my namesake's) profile.

EDIT2: I found out about the losing text bit the hard way, fortunately I was able to pull an unedited version out of my cache and preserve a copy of everything that's been lost.
