I'm new to the forums, but a long time zebra girl reader. I wanted to share a powerful moment for me in Zebra Girl, and hear if other people have similar stories. Zebra girl was one of the comics that really had an impact on me early on, and I can pick out the exact panel that did it.
Jack and Wally doing magic in the park. A nice sentiment on its own, but it showed an unrelenting optimism and perseverance for the main characters to do "good".
After Jack watched his whole community of wizards fall and die like "silver leaves", and after we've seen reality reject our heroes in many ways, here they are, doing their part to help and entertain. Jack explains what and why they're doing better than I could here, but to see them bringing light and wonder to children when they've encountered so much darkness and trauma . . . it had a real impact on me.
I wish I could say that I've gone out and done the same, volunteered or dedicated my life to some great cause. I have, however, taken to heart the advice that no matter how dark things get, you can still bring light into someones life, and you should always strive to do so. In my own small ways, I try to do that every day.
