For a while now I have wondered how the ideas people have of their own avatars measures up to the impressions that other people get from them. I've thought about posting this for a while now. Then Author came along and did one of the many things I was thinking about doing, Songs that suit the avatars. Great minds think alike, right? Well, keeping away from that end of buisness, I would like to know what people think of each other's avatars as well as their own. Interesting conversation has arisen from such things already, hopefully we can get some result here too.

First point of discussion: What do you think each other's avatar's voices sound like?
Hopefully the thread will evolve into new forms of discussion without my continued input of questions...

My interpretation of the Bearhead's voice is a more mechanical-sounding version of my own voice (Check out the latest 910CMX podcast to hear it... and then check out all the other ones.) He could technically have any voice he chose since he has an electronic voicebox instead of vocal cords, but his standard voice is mine as filtered through a recording device.

Vikki has a Northeastern American accent and she mumbles/drawls a lot. Haven't actually RPed much at all with her, so I can't think of how she'd say much of anything except stating her intention to raiding the fridge or taking a nap.

When I think of an alien personality (as described for Jardec), I imagine Richard Hayworth's voice acting on Legato from Trigun.

Luminaire, at least the version you meet on the forums, is heavily similar to myself. Mostly because it's my avatar.

That's not to say that all versions of Luminaire are like me, as I originally, and still, envision the "true" version as being very different. *shrug*

As well, I've always envisioned at least Zemro's and Mana's avatars as sounding like their creators.

In conclusion... here's my impression of an avatar!

Interesting. I always thought of the Bearhead sounding tinny. Strangely enough, if you've ever heard the voice for the Infested Terrans on Starcraft, that's almost the voice I had pictured. It's rather inaccurate, I know, but somehow that mental impression just came to me.

Jardec's voice I don't think of as void of emotion like Legato's is. I don't think quite of my voice for him, but it is one of the base elements. I can't really think of a voice similar to his though there must certainly be one...

Fury's voice is the one I have downpat. When he isn't just roaring incomprehensibly he sounds like Number Two off of the Austin Powers movies. Except bloodthirsty and angry. Yeah, that's the voice comradef_chibismile.gif

I envision everything Kand saying being a low growl unless he was yelling.

Kendra is a rather average female voice with a lot of pep.

Kinda speaks slowly and well enunciated.

Author, when speaking normally, has a rather rough voice that vibrates just slightly. He can't really control it, and it annoys him slightly. When he's whispering it sounds extremely guttural and loud, which defeats the purpose. It's only when talking loudly that he has a "normal" sounding voice. Which is why he usually speaks that way.

Frost is calm, cool, and speaks in an even tone at all time. Even when he yells the only thing that rises in the volume.

I've sort of seen Dagfari's voice as not a deep baratone/gravelly voice, but more of a normal, well-spoken voice.
Hale's voice is best described as normal, but with a hint of mischiveousness.
For Freya, take an example of any five teenage characters you know, mix it together, and that is probably what you'd get.

Generic I know, but it helps me imagine what they would actually say

Before I reveal what my avatar sounds like, I want everyone else to have a guess first. ^^ As well as give my thoughts on all the other voices that have been described in this thread:

I interpreted Daniel the Bearhead as having a quirky, upbeat sounding voice, despite being slightly mechanical, and I guess he really does have that, which is good. I think that matches his personality. ^^

Vikki sounds exactly like I thought she sounded like, except I didn't expect the mumbling. But it's a good quirk.

I already know what Ash's characters' voices sound like because she told me a long time ago. I know, I'm a cheater. >.>

Never doubted that Lumi or Mana sounded too different from their RL selves. And I know how their RL selves sound, because I Skype with them from time to time.

Jardec comes off to me as sounding like somebody who's in a position of power and wants everybody around him to know that. So I imagine him as having an arrogant, kinda deep voice.

I imagine Faria as having a deep, kinda sultry demoness voice. It fits her sadistic personality.

Kand, I always thought, had a voice that was as deep as a human's could get, bordering on demonic. So I guess that's not too far from what Chang actually describes him as sounding like, what with the low growling.

Kendra comes off to me as somebody who should have a somewhat high, but still confident-sounding, voice. Which, again, isn't that far from what Chang said.

Kinda? I always thought he had a cool and passive tone to his voice, as if he was always in thought (except when agitated). He speaks slower than I thought, but otherwise I figure my interpretation was close to what Chang said.

Author's voice I was way off on. >.> If I'm reading his post correctly, then it seems like it's lower than I thought it was. And it has this interesting quirk that I don't think anybody would be able to guess without actually hearing him.

Frost sounds exactly like I thought, although I still imagine his voice as being higher than Kinda's.

Dagfari and Hale are not what I expected. I thought they had a booming, sort of arrogant tones (not that they themselves are arrogant), but apparently I was wrong. ^^;

I would expect Azalea to have somewhat of an upbeat, quirky tone of voice usually, but when angered it became slightly more rougher and determined.

My avatar is a version of me (although, like Lumi, the version portrayed here is not what I'd consider the true version of the character), and so he sounds like me. As for others, I'd put a majority of the 'oldbies' as also having avatar voices that sound like their RL voices.

And one that's not been mentioned yet. My current opponent, Splunkle, I'd picture as speaking with a kind of stereotypical posh Englishman accent, but with that accent being an affectation rather than how the character really talks.

In a form, Pennpenn naturally takes the voice of whoever he is, however can speak in his own voice at any time if he wants. In his original (brown haired form), I guess he sounded like me, but in his current form he sounds more like G1 Bumblebee.

As for Matthew, I'd like to see what others think he sounds like first. Let's see if I can describe some others...

For Azalea, I'd imagine a relatively youthful voice but with an edge to it, as she often works up a bit of anger during her battles. For Nathaniel, a deep, droll, but very imposing voice to match his scientific mind and powerful nature. For Twelve, I think a somewhat high voice because of her small body; the same voice for both her and her armor's computer, but each having their own distinct tone and mannerisms. For Rappy, now that she has officially matured, her voice would be a commanding alto.

I don't know about you, but I always (well, not always, but for a while) imagined Twelve sounding like GLaDOS. Obviously without the crazy twitch bits.

Oh, I could probably put up an example of my voice later, maybe. Can others?
