      Welcome!   03/05/2016

Welcome, everyone, to the new 910CMX Community Forums. I'm still working on getting them running, so things may change.  If you're a 910 Comic creator and need your forum recreated, let me know and I'll get on it right away.  I'll do my best to make this new place as fun as the last one!

In reality, I'm probably going to be all over the upper half of the city. Our hotel is up by the Airport, while Mrs. Prof's brother lives on the Northwest side of town. Much gasoline will be burned.

I lived on the west side during the mid 80s, near what I guess is now the 2nd loop, was still the outer loop at the time, but the one way out was being built. Sea World opened while I was there, the Opry Land connected park was not on the table yet.

My right shoulder has been flaring up like mad since the beginning of Saturday. I'm near topping out on the 0-to-10 pain scale. To complicate things, there's no place for me to sleep here in the hotel room: the sofa that I thought I'd be able to lean back against is too low, meaning I can't get up from it once I've sat down on it. I've constructed a makeshift pillow fort of sorts on the bed, but it's only marginally acceptable. I'm up in the middle of the night, typing away on this entry as a result.

Add one more thing to the fun - I broke off a tooth that was under a crown. Joy. Things are conspiring to fark up this trip, damn it.

***The Edema Chronicles for April 19, 2023

Today's weight, taken at around 5:33 a.m., was 328 lbs.

I definitely have a problem. It stems from my San Antonio trip. I didn't get to elevate my legs at all during the trip, so they must have retained water. A lot of water. Doctor contact time.

NOTE: A subsequent weighing came in at 325. Still bad, but not as bad.

A trip is an outlier, see if the trend is better when you get back.

My left knee is getting out of control. I've always had trouble walking on the knee replacement - the surgeon wants to insert "shims" to fix the looseness of the hardware - but now I'm having serious trouble getting out of a chair and standing up, not to mention walking afterward. The knee is swollen, especially in the area above the kneecap. I need to go back to the surgeon and, most likely, get the knee drained of the fluid that's built up. I've had this done a couple of times already. They stick a big needle into the joint and pull fluid off of it. It hurts, but there is relief a couple of hours later. We'll see if the surgeon will do this or not.

Due to my on going problems with hard stools, I've been taking stool softeners.  The seem to help, but people have recommend Miralax as something I should take daily.  Got a bottle of powder via Amazon then read the bottle.  People with Kidney disease should only take if approved by their doctor.  Well, damn.

I've never bought drugs via amazon.  Don't they post label info on the website?

Yeah, they do, way the hell down the page. Far enough that I didn't see it the first time I visited the page. Lots of "safe, doctor recommend" quotes, but the safety warning was buried under even the videos for the stuff.

I got a phone call from my pain management specialist's office yesterday. Let me back up a bit first.

I had a telemedicine appointment with my pain management specialist's office on Monday, while I was in San Antonio. During the call, I complained fiercely about my right shoulder and how badly it hurt. We discussed a pain block.

Move forward.

The surgical scheduler for his office called yesterday. I'm now scheduled for surgery to have a pain block administered on Tuesday of next week (the 25th). This was quick. Let's hope the pain block works, please O please.

CW Poop:

As I've said before passing a hard stool when you have the start of a migraine is double plus ungood. Not hard enough to really call it constipation (plus it passed in less than 5 minutes) but bad enough to be a pain.

The suprascapular nerve block seems to have been a massive waste of time. I'm hurting just as bad as I was before the procedure. I intend on calling the doctor and complaining loudly today. I will either get a "give it a little more time" response, or something else. I'm hoping for something else, as long as that something else isn't "we're terribly sorry, there isn't anything we can do about it."

EDIT: Just spoke with the doctor's office and found out that what they told me at the surgical center was WRONG. It's not supposed to kick in within 24 hours, it's supposed to kick in within 2 WEEKS!!! Damned miscommunication. If they'd have told me this the first time, I wouldn't have been bitchy about it for the past week. Sheesh.

I give up.
