I think that Exiern Gas & the Schlock Mercantile might become chains that we see more of.

The real question is, just who WOULD believe him.

Oh, they seriously want to remain inconspicuous. But if they have someone in danger, they get them out NOW, and let the spin-meisters loose on it later. So what is known? A helicopter swoops down and grabs an unusual woman from a moving truck. Where's the evidence? There might be some motion-blurred frames from security cameras somewhere, but what can they identify? The helicopter has fake identification numbers, and they can afford to scrap it if they have to. If you could identify the woman from such pictures (not easy!) or other info, she would prove to be Alicia Lipperman, a financial consultant who seems to have dropped out of sight. If needed, she can hide until the next Mabba visit and come out with a new look, down to the DNA and fingerprints. Ok, something weird happened here (and that is what Greg the FBI agent has been investigating, this residue of strange stuff that has accumulated over the years) but it doesn't point to the Angels. An observer might wonder about secret government operations, but the very absurdity of reality in this case is a protection in and of itself. Anyone speculating about alien-enhanced secret organizations would be laughed at.

All absolutely true, of course. I may have misinterpreted; it seemed to me she had already gotten past immediate pursuit and observation. At that point, a quick exit from the truck into a waiting car is actually more effective - it's easier to loose a car in traffic than a helo. But nowhere near as much fun.

She really was safe, so it was a bit of a overreaction. (Fun to write and draw and hopefully read, though.) But the fear was that the enemy could have observed her (from their 28th story vantage point) getting into a bright red truck. If they had had ground units that could be called up, Therese might have been on the wrong end of an armed pursuit.

Besides, that whole bit was fun to draw. Not easy in places, but that just increased the fun level.

Next week the chopper crashes into City Hall & Therese has to run to catch a NYC bus.
