I've definitely gotten the mix of Assam tea, sugar and milk down so I have close to the platonic ideal of black tea 4 out of 5 mornings now.  I has a happy.

Mrs. Prof has brought home some "Autentic ROM" chocolate for us to enjoy. It's made in Bucharest, Romania, and it's quite good. The label is covered in the colors of the Romanian flag..

I miss having a "Euro Store".  The Tulsa metro area had 3, plus 4 or 5 Indian markets and dozens of Mexican stores.  We have 2 very small Mexican markets here.

So, off to the river store I go.

Look they have it!

Look at the freaking prices, $12 for 3 50 gram bars.  They better be god like good at that price.

More scrolling.

23 bucks for 3 50 gram bars "Cel Dublu".  What the actually hell?

I strongly suspect that if you have a store that carries "foreign" food it will be cheaper than getting through the river store.

We have a lot of Indian markets here. A lot of east Asian markets as well, some pretty large, but the best by far is an H-Mart. H-Mart is a Korean chain, and they have outstanding produce, while the American chains are putting out crappy produce - all within the last year or two; expect significant portion of rotten or moldy berries, etc.

Mexican markets are harder to find, but there are quite a few. Most of the mainstream stores carry Mexican food, though not a lot of it. A rack of spices, a selection of tortillas, other random ingredients that aren't specifically Mexican.

We had a Polish deli, lasted 10 or 12 years, went out of business around COVID time. Owner used to take weekly trips to Ne Jersey to stock up. They had good stuff.

Pseudo Gin and Tonic, with bitters

Non alcoholic gin and tonic with quinine, with 3 dashes of bitter.  It's not really a G&T but it will do.

I get their Bavarian wurst all the time.  Think I'll have some for lunch today.

Yep, that's what we had. Apparently, our Garland, TX Aldi doesn't carry it all the time.

My impression is that Aldi's in America gets stock that was overstocked elsewhere; kind of like a Big Lots outlet, but all within the Aldi's system. Although, it seems like that can't be true for the produce, can it?

The Aldis in Tulsa were hit or miss at having it.  The one here in Small City Kansas has them as a forever item.

A lot of the stuff in Aldi's is American in nature and not something that you would get in Germany, plus the packaging is normally in English only.  And, obviously the produce and fresh meat is American.  What is German is their candy and cookies that they have from time to time.

I had one with some Inglehoffer horseradish.  At last a horseradish sauce with authority!

We had another German Aldi dinner tonight. I cooked again. I made the same Nuremburg Bratwurst, this time with stove-top Cheese Spaetzle and some bottled German white asparagus that we heated up. Every single bit of that dinner tasted good. My son was still asleep after a long day (he's on an odd schedule), so I wrapped up a plate of the leftovers for him. I think he'll like them.

Om nom nom.

It has been many years since I've had good spaetzle. I lived in the Lehigh Valley, east of Pennsylvania Dutch (Deutch) country, and you could find good German-style cooking. Elsewhere around the country, it's pretty rare.

It's been decades since I had good German food in general.  There was a good German restaurant in Tulsa in "The Farm" shopping center.  Made wonderful Jägerschnitzel.
