I have heard that Pittsburg is big into fireworks, so I may be awakened at midnight, but I'm going to try to sleep.  I feel like crap and I really don't have any reason to stay up, so happy new year roughly 4 hours early.

Damn it, they have started with fireworks already.

Navy Pier does a big fireworks display, but the temperature is currently 0°F (-18°C), with wind chills of -25°F (-32°C), so I don't think I'll go hike up Nichol Knoll to where I'd be able to see it, like I've done on the 3rd of July.  (Yes, 3rd, for some reason Chicago does fireworks on the 3rd.)  They've shut down the big ferris wheel so they might cancel/postpone the fireworks, too, but I haven't heard them say they were yet.

There is no official fireworks show in the area.  But lots and lots of fireworks are going off all around me.  The boom booms started before sunset and have not let up after midnight.
