So this game changes from Goonmanji to Golf to... Sorry?

Golf? Looks more like shot put to me. But shot put likely doesn't have any specific warning shout ...

Well, we didn't get to see Catalina walk to get her bonus card but this is pretty good too.

Yay for double-starburst in panel two!

So the dice shrink-fit?

*finishes popcorn* :demonicduck:

I think perspective is why the dice look so big compared to Catalina in panel two (as well as last monday).

As a dice collector (goes along with being a very long term table top gamer) the idea of dice big enough to "roll" via a shot putt type move is a bit scary1.    I understand that they aren't that big to any one other than Cat, but still.   Depending on the status of the "player pieces"  Hanma might want to consider a dice box or dice tower for rolling the dice as to avoid possible breakage/injury to them.  I can speak for personal experience and say that people get cranky about having their carefully painted figures or models hit by dice in games.

1The only really big dice (more than 2.5 inches across) I use are rubber.  The biggest "hard" dice I have are 1.75 inches and are quite scary on the right table.

Some mobile devices come in boxes with a thin layer of foam on the inner-top making the natural dice-rolling boxes.

They're low clatteral damage as well if the game takes place where there are children who are supposed to be sleeping during the game.

That is what I think one of my players uses when she rolls her _metal_ dice.  Just rolling them on the table is way to loud and leaves dents in the plastic table top.

My family likes boardgames and some of them use dice as well.  We've been using the game box lid and a thickness of 2 or 3 paper towels.  But I also work for a tech company that sells mobile devices and started noticing the foam on the box lid insides.  I'm starting to build up a collection...

One thing I found out many years ago, at a GAMA convention in Las Vegas is that people that are serious about dice being random (i.e. Crap tables in Vegas) get all sorts of weird about both dice towers and smaller dice boxes.  They think the dice have to bounce off the felt a couple of times and ideally off the back wall of the Crap's pit to be "really a good throw".   Having Vegas style gaming people look at table top gaming stuff is weird.

That would certainly mean center-of-mass of the dice would exert its maximum effect on the roll.

I've seen people rattle the dice around in their hands and flop them on a game table with little or no rolling around, too.  I never said anything but that always bothered me a little

As long as they aren't carefully putting them a set way (i.e. high side up or what ever) before they do that stunt it doesn't bother me.

Of course I'm a DM most of the time.  I fudge rolls all the time to make for a better story or gaming session.  I've never fudged to make it worse for players, let me be clear, I have enough way to do that with out needing to do that, but I will fudge encounters rolls or even attack rolls if the party is in over their heads and it's not their fault.

"clatteral damage"  I love it!  :-D

What about the backgammon and Yahtzee  tradition of shaking the dice in a cup before throwing?
Does that sufficiently randomize the roll?

As for big dice?  I once had a game that consisted of a bag of oversized d6s in different colors.  The idea was to roll them and then stack them.  I think the idea was supposed to be something like Jenga.  It didn't matter because the GM immediately confiscated them as "Damage Dice".  From then on, anytime we annoyed the GM, he threw the big dice at us.

Depends on who you ask.  The lady I spoke with on the subject thought that any thing less than the full across the table/pit toss that you do in a casino craps games was "suspect at best".  She also was a bit weirded out by the non 6 sided dice that were in use in table top RPG.  Any thing that wasn't a fairly new casino d6 was suspect.

I don't think player pieces can actually be injured.

Shouldn't the center-of-mass of the dice be CENTER in fair dices?

That's either a great deliberate pun or an absolutely wonderful typo.

Once in a game I had just transformed into a werewolf, so the next time I needed to roll dice I reached into my bag and pulled out a pair of big fuzzy hang-from-the-car-mirror type D6's.

But it was just as a joke. The things don't roll worth a darn, and I didn't need D6's at the time anyway. (I have NOT been able to find big fuzzy dice that aren't D6's.)

The largest dice I've got is about 7 cm across, and is massive brass... I've never even tried rolling it. Any surface hard enough not to crack, dent or break is almost bound to cause damage to the dice, not to mention what would happen if it decided to roll off the table... But it should make an excellent improvised weapon...

Maybe what you would need would be a soft surface?

Still to scary... It's a monster! Maybe I could take it out in the garden and throw it on the lawn, but I'd still have large holes to repair, and I doubt it would roll very well.
