Pronunciations

Recommended Posts

I thought that we could use a thread for discussing the pronunciation of various names and uncommon vocabulary in EGS.

First off, how is "Moperville" supposed to be pronounced? Is it a long or a short "o"?

Conversely, I have been pronouncing it like "mop", the janitorial implement.

It would have to have 2 p's for it to be that.

Quote

mopper

(ˈmɒpə)

n
(Professions) a person employed to clean surfaces with a mop

A moper would be someone who mopes which is a form of depression, might not be severe depression, but still it's not a good mood.

That's what the name always connoted to me.

But if it's pronounced "mopperville", it would go a ways to explain the bathrooms...
