Ok, so definitely no problems in getting Sirlecks money.

Also, Magus, what else you didn't have for long time? Or, given your age, possibly ever? She MIGHT be interested in party for two, looking at her blushing ...

(On the other hand, if Magus is like Elliot, he probably would be too stick-in-the-mud to ask. Wait. He was Ellen. He might not be interested in girls at all. Justin, you missed fantastic opportunity.)

Hmmm ... did she actually missed the room herself or did Magus set up some magic wards?

... also, yes: doesn't matter when you eat last, your stomach capacity is limited. You will NOT be able to catch up.

I sincerely doubt that Magus isn't into women.  The fact that Ellen seems to be considerably more into women than her brother could be said to follow the circumstances of her creation, but it's certainly withstood whatever Nioi did, and she almost seems to be less into guys than he is at this point.

I suspect magical burnout can override stomach capacity.  But given some of the stories I've heard about Michael Phelps and The Rock...

It's not because of diamond. It's because he was woman before arriving into EGS universe. We don't know what kind of gender changing magic he used ... however we DO know they don't have any hang ups about homosexuality in their universe ... which might mean he doesn't like girls. Or not, obviously.

I don't think so, and even if it would, Magus isn't burned out. His hair NORMALLY have this color, and as we know from Ellen's example, if he would burn out his hair color would change.

The pizza delivery person is such a cliche beginning to a porn video. But yeah I dunno if Magus was sexually active before he wound up stranded, or if it would be some weird side effect to having recently possessed and split from Elliot. Either way, Magus doesn't seem like that's on his mind at the moment, whether or not he accepts if she offers is another story, maybe we'll find out if he's got someone back home that he'd rather be with?

It's interesting that he got a hair cut too, is that shorter than the shortest we've seen Elliot, I'm not sure, a quick look through the archives and this is the shortest I can recall.

I don't think so, she apparently assumed that the door with the roomservice tray in front was the room she was delivering to and walked right past. I'd be more inclined to think that she was just not paying attention to things, than any magic affecting her, and I speak from experience on this having been working in a hotel for the past 15 years.

As long as he's not drinking home made booze along with the pizza, speaking of working in a hotel, I've recently had the "pleasure" of having to clean up after someone who ate too much pizza along with booze, it's not fun...

I assumed it's a magic defense Magus set up.  We know Dan has read the Harry Potter books, so Number Twelve Grimmauld Place may well be an inspiration here.

He might be able to eat one slice each out of five or six pizzas, plus several different wing flavors.  If the room has a mini-fridge and microwave, which is quite possible, he could save more for later.  Or he could magic the leftovers to somewhere homeless people hang out.  Somehow I don't picture Magus wasting food if he can help it.

I admit my first thought upon seeing a young woman deliver pizza to a barely-dressed Magus was "Dan's watched OLD porn." But I had another think and I wondered why Dan didn't have Matt Cohen deliver the pizza. Dan put some work into creating Pizza Delivery Gal or "PDG" until a better name comes along, so I'm wondering if she'll just vanish forever after this single comic.

Because The Dan makes New Characters as needed.

This hotel seems to have an unusual design - most hotels I've seen have odd- and even-numbered rooms on opposite sides of the hall.

Still, a suitcase full of cash is a finite amount.  I wonder if any of this wealth is in a form that can be tracked electronically?

Question is if Ellen remembers - and told DGB - enough to trace sucessfully.

I find more likely Magus has some freeze spell than that he understand how to use fridge and microwave.

Because this is unlikely to be in Moperville.

Did everyone just forget that Dan already made a comic explaining this? I mean, I know that was more than a decade ago, but still.

That doesn't speak about STOMACH capacity. Four pizzas would likely be comparable to this challenge.

Fixed. Dan updated the comics to address this. Also, his comment makes more likely Magus veiled/masked/magicked the room.

This an oddly neat segue. But panel 5 is a good save.

Nevertheless, the last hotel I went to did not do the odd-even method. YMMV, really.

It's not all that unusual, the hotel I work at doesn't have rooms on the opposite side of the hall, because the opposite side of the hall overlooks the pool and the rooms are laid out in a horseshoe numbering from 201-216. I just assumed that the hotel Magus is staying it was similar.

I dunno how it'd make it more likely, it's still 3 rooms on the right hand side with 1 being skipped and that tray in front of 214 could still have been distracting enough for her to walk past 212.

I am glad I read the comments here in the forum because I was confused as a Drunk Elephant. I thought the Pizza Girl was Magus. Who had for Some Unknown reason slipped into female form. And that the guy in the Apartment knew Magus And was calling to Magus, but couldn’t get in touch when Mag was stuck on the spiritual plane.

As to why I jumped to this ridiculous conclusion. It has to do with the character designs. I thought Pizza Girl’s design looked a lot like Ellen. And I didn’t recognize Magus new design at all. I thought he was a totally nee charcter. The commentary rather than clearing things up for me. Just made me more confused. “Afford this?” Afford what? Magus is just delivering a pizza.

In hindsight I cannot believe I made the mistake I did, but at the time it seemed to make sense.

Dan specifically said The entire point was that she SHOULD have easily seen the room but didn't, so I changed it.

I must admit I was confused by this at first read too, but I realized who's Magus when reading Dan's commentary specifically mentioning that he DOES have money. That "Mr. Magus" throw me off. Also, I was tired when reading it first time.

That was in reference to the way the room numbers were set up and people were assuming that she was looking at the wrong side of the hall, because people automatically assumed that the hotel had rooms on both sides of the hall, Dan could have just stuck with that layout and stated that this particular hotel didn't work that way but no.

Even with the new numbers, it still not clear exactly how she missed the room, just that she did, and the only real clue was that she commented on the room service tray 2 doors ahead of the one she was just passing, which can just as easily give the reader the impression that she wasn't paying attention to how far down the hall she was going.

Fortunately for this case Dan has responded to my post on Reddit:

I responded back to that with pretty much what I said previously and added that it probably would have been better if Magus' door wasn't visible at all in the second panel,  and if anyone was confused by that, Dan can remind them that so was the Pizza Girl.

What I'm not clear on is whether that's Magus's room service or she just thinks it is because she thinks that's his door.

If she didn't see the actual door to room 212 because of some illusion hiding the door, then of course she would just assume that the tray is in front of 212, it's the fact that we don't see what she sees (or doesn't see) that adds to the confusion. It's why I feel it would have been better if Magus' door just wasn't visible in panel 2, it might be a bit confusing at first to the reader, but I think the fact that there'd have been a large space between doors in panel 2, then suddenly the doors are evenly spaced in panel 4 should be an indication that Magus' door was initially hidden.

ARE we seeing the door 212 on fsecond frame? I wasn't really sure about that.

On the other hand, maybe we do AND SO IS SHE, because the door is not hidden with illusion but just made unremarkable or something. Like, she's seeing the shape but doesn't realize it's door.

The meta bit was EXACTLY why I said that Dan's comment makes more likely Magus veiled/masked/magicked the room.

Unless the door we see her passing in panel 2 isn't 210's I assumed the doors we see in panel 2 were 210, 212 and 214. It wouldn't make sense for that to not be 210 because it would mean that the door the tray is in front of might be 216 or further down which would mean that the Pizza Girl would have really made a bad assumption that the tray belonged to 212.

The meta bit was too subtle in my case then cus I was able to apply real world experience to what she could have experience, if she kept her eyes on the wall and the doors as she pass, missing Magus' door would have made it more clear that something strange was going on, instead she shifted her focus to the tray as she continued down the hall so it could have been assumed that her own perception of the hall changed when her focus changed, which I can say from experience that you don't need magic for it to happen.
