      Welcome!   03/05/2016

Welcome, everyone, to the new 910CMX Community Forums. I'm still working on getting them running, so things may change.  If you're a 910 Comic creator and need your forum recreated, let me know and I'll get on it right away.  I'll do my best to make this new place as fun as the last one!

Proposed revision of forum rules and FAQ

Recommended Posts

Gentle forumgoers,

I have received what I feel is justified criticism of the current format of our forum rules. It has been suggested to me that I make the rules a simple numbered list in short easy to read form that will also make it simpler to refer back to when necessary. I am considering doing so, and keep the old rules as optional reading below the new list.

I would like to hear your thoughts on this. Even a simple for/against comment will be helpful. Thank you.

Sounds alright, and thinking about it, for an EGS fandom, maybe it makes sense to have a "post 'change' spellbook" and a "pre 'change' spellbook" so to speak? ;)

I am for and against this.

Simplifying rules is, generally, a good thing.

This Forum has developed into a community.  And some parts of this community are not necessarily family friendly.

I would be cautious of any policy that would allow casual users to disrupt conversations that drift into difficult, sensitive, offensive, or adult topics.  But I would welcome a way to let the casual user know if a thread does enter that territory.

The intent is good.  Now what are the unintended consequences?

I never had a problem with the Forum Courtesy Rules, but I haven't had to refer back to the post very often, and I'm fairly good at skimming. I could see how someone else might find that huge wall of text overwhelming, particularly if they just wanted to quickly double-check it.

One thing I have always found it a bit annoying is that the general 910 CMX forum rules are so hard to find (it was a really strange decision to hide them in the "blogs" section). If you're revising anyway, perhaps you could include with your revised rules a link to (or summary of) those rules?
