The last dog I had anything to do with ignored squirrels, but was hell on jets about birds.  And tossed balls.

I don't know how they would.  But if anyone could do it, it would be a Cat.

I don't know about cats in general, but I know Explorer doesn't try to do that.  Her normal morning is “Help the Human get started on the butt warmer on the desk.  Eat breakfast.  Zoom.  Nap”.

“The Human isn't making nearly as many weird nose noises this morning.  I'm gonna grab a bite to eat, then help him work.  He hasn't done that in a couple of days.” - Explorer the Cat.

“I'm under the desk, I'm not even slightly in your way.  Of course, I'll be helping you 'work' later, after I eat breakfast. It's not my fault you got up in the middle of the night, 'because you had an idea and wanted to write it down.'  You know you get grumpy when you do that.” - Explorer the Cat.

“The Human is grunting. He did something to his back last night while he was sleeping. I see it's time to give him lessons in sleeping again.  Anyway, gonna help for a while, then eat some breakfast.  He had that salty stuff. I don't like it.  Help, then nap. “It's windy, so the tree is making noises on the roof.  At least that is what The Human says the noises are. I still think it's mice.  I'm helping The Human while I prepare for the mice to come down!” - Explorer the Cat.
