A week ago (Mar 26), James Tolkan died (age 94).

I know him as Principal Strickland (and his ancestor Marshal Strickland) in the Back to the Future movies, and as the grumpy cop in the Masters of the Universe movie. Despite the fact that they weren't the most sympathetic of roles, I really enjoyed watching him play them.

Of course he played plenty of other roles, but mostly not in things I've seen.

Her death came after Parton suddenly announced in May 2026 that she was canceling a Las Vegas show and said she’d been undergoing treatment for kidney stones for several years.

Tim Curry died today. Like Dolly, he was 80.

I haven't seen much of his live action performances (mainly just Muppet Treasure Island and clips from Rocky Horror and Clue) , but I've seen a number of animated movies and TV series that he did voice work for, and always enjoyed listening to his characters.

And now we've lost Peter Cullen (age 85) too (apparently he died yesterday, but I only heard of it this afternoon). To kids of the 80s like me his most memorable role was Optimus Prime in the '84 Transformers cartoon (and also in the live action movies), but he did a lot of other voice work starting in the late 60s and continuing all the way through to this year.
