The distinction to not eat slaves just doesn't make sense to me. I understand if someone doesn't want to eat humans (I don't want to eat them either), but if you decide some species is ok to eat, why should slaves of that species be an exception?

(Unless we use "eat" in that innuendo sense.)

No, and a garlic press isn't garlic.  A machine can be named for or described in terms of what it processes, not just what it's made of.
