My conclusion is that immortals are never actually adult, by human standards.

Monster in the bushes is about to have a very bad day.  Too bad it's gonna traumatize Jill, making her Jay. I can see why Pandora walled this memory off.

This feels like a morality play for immortals.  Don't use magic while you are emotional and senile.
