I hear it takes quite a bit of alcohol to get a Finn drunk.

Were you ever attached to NATO? I've talked to folks that were, and it's a whole 'nother layer of rules. Not bad, just different. The biggest plus is, you are probably stationed in Europe, if you want that.

I spent about 4 and a half years in Germany, in a unit that had NATO forces in it's chain of command.  Every year we had several "Tac-Evals" that ended the season with an 4th ATAF evaluation.  The Germans evaluators were a bit strange.  One year they were confused as to why we didn't have beer in the mess hall.

Even all of the alcohol in the world would not be sufficient to convince me to drink a Finn.

Well, first you have to dissolve the Finn. Granted, alcohol is not the best solvent. Ammonia does a number on organic matter. You wouldn't want to drink it, though.

Putting this here because we don't have a "what the ever lasting fuck" message thread and I didn't really want to start one,

* Blink * What?

I suspect this isn't an official Raytheon post, but it's why I went * Blink * for the pride parade image.

Corporate America showing they support diversity, if it is profitable.

Yeah, but the US military isn't know for being diverse, even if they allow gays in the military now.  Not sure how supporting diversity is good for Raytheon's bottom line.  I mean most people that care about diversity (in a positive way) are going to have, at least, issues with defense contractors as a general rule.  I'm not saying I don't think defense contractors shouldn't be LGBTQ+ friendly, I just don't see the point.  It's not like there is a large gay demographic that is buying missiles.

Government procurement rules likely require diversity. Pushing a secondary agenda via government contracts, not new by a long shot.

That more or less cynical view aside, keeping personal drama out of the workplace is a win for any business. If you can flip a burger, who cares who you are romancing at night? But loose the sexual harassment, hetero or otherwise.

I suspect that for major end items for the DoD diversity isn't part of the contract.  Could be, but I don't think so.

Yeah, I suspect this is the case.  Of course by doing pride month stuff you run into the problem of homo|trans|phobe members of your work force being upset.

I've done mil procurement, and stuff like small business set-aside was a thing, I imagine diversity is now. Could be wrong.

Someone is going to be upset no matter what you do. I think the non-inclusive are being marginalized at this point in our progress. Look at backlash to Hobby Lobby, Boy Scouts, Salvation Army, and Chik Filet.

Having a "Gay set-aside" would be weird.  And would cause select types of people to raise a major stink.  I suspect that it's weirdly worded so it's not obvious that corporations with "diverse staff" get preference.

This is a knocked out T-62 in Ukraine.  The T-62 is a 1960's era tank.  If the Russians are using them, they are really scrapping the bottom of the barrel.

Hard to believe that this is the same enemy that we feared would overrun all of Europe in just 3-5 days during the Cold War, using those very same tanks.

To be fair, the USSR's army was several times larger than Russia's army and most of the plans for invading West Germany assumed a nuclear battle field.

Like Russia didn't have enough problem.  Let's propose a law that, if passed, would be a article 5 violation in and of it's self.

"Absolutely love that one. A Russian MP has proposed to cancel Lithuanian independence by repealing the 1991 decree of the USSR State Council "On Recognition of the Independence of the Republic of Lithuania"."

In their defense, at this point it would be difficult to piss the world off more than they already have ...

No great revelations from the hearings, as expected; more of a question of folks in positions of power having the balls to hold the perpetrators and the perpeTRAITOR-in-Chief accountable. ('Balls' being metaphorical, props to Liz Cheney)

In hindsight, the dubious 'pardoning of himself' might have been a good strategy.

I am aghast that a huge swath of this country is delusional to the point of seeing another reality, on a level with flat earth.

As if the Ukrainians didn't have enough problems, there seems to be a Russian art theft ring, possibly sanctioned by the Russian government, stealing classic Ukrainian art and sending it to Russia.
