Sort of the latter, but our PM had no choice because one of her support parties demanded it and threatened to leave the government which would cause it to fall anyway. They did get their just reward for being prats, however. They lost more than half of their MPs.

What we will get is kind of still in the air, but it looks like we're getting either a center-left or a centrist government. This suits me well. Last thing we need is our right wing morons, some of which make the Tories look like models of sanity.

<eye roll> You can always stage a flag change. It's not like they don't have access to plenty of Russian flags, unless they burned them all.

In a related vein, the famous image of the flag being raised at Iwo Jima was staged. The flag raising actually happened, but the image we all know, the photo, and the statue based on it was staged days later. It still has plenty of impact.

Propaganda is a weapon. Your enemies will use it. You may as well push back with your own.

Admittedly, recently Russian propaganda has been so awful that it is very nearly possible to do all the pushback you need just by republishing it.

I think the whole of the Russo-Ukrainian war shows that there is a little bit of a gap in higher level Russian thought processes.

A man walks into a brain store to buy brains.

They have a wide assortment, from damaged goods at $1.00 a pound, to highly sought after specialist brains going for a couple of hundred dollars a pound.

But the man is not satisfied, and asks, "Do you have anything special?"

"Why, yes sir, we do have a special item back in out special vault. Follow me."

The clerk leads the man to a back room, and opens a safe. There, in a small bowl are more brains.

"These are Trump supporter brains. Fresh stock. $800 for an ounce, but I can give them to you for $750 an ounce if you buy at least 8 ounces."

"... But why are these so expensive?"

"Sir, do you have any idea how many Trump supporters it takes to get an ounce of brains?"

The best teacher I ever had was an ex-fighter pilot. He mentioned in a lecture that air forces select people in top physical condition to be fighter pilots, and how this is counterproductive; the ideal fighter pilot is a short, overweight chain smoker with high blood pressure. Short needs less pressure to pump blood to the brain, overweight has a larger pool of oxygenated blood, high blood pressure means he can get the blood to the brain more easily, and a chain smoker is already somewhat acclimated to hypoxia.

Then, in his typical fashion, he demonstrated this was not just conjecture; he went on to say, "I knew this guy, he was my instructor. We could not keep up with him in turns."

The 'ounce of brains' thing is because they tend to be over the top cocky and alienate the people around them. In all fairness, the pilot of any nations modern fighters has his hands full constantly.
