Just "came back" from my first 4 hours in Dragon Age: Origins. It's been very interesting so far, and plays sort of like a mix between World of Warcraft and Knights of the Old Republic (what with the pausing and issuing orders to the characters). There's also a Gambit-like (Final Fantasy XII) system for configuring aspects of the party members' AI.
Also happened to run into a bug/glitch, where an invisible wall hadn't been set up where it was supposed to be, which allowed me to drop down a cliff and traverse the impressively large background scenery... without that otherwise bothersome gravity keeping me down... eventually strolling straight through a mountain wall and into the void beyond. I should probably post about that on BioWare's forums once the screenshots have been uploaded. >.>
It's been fun so far, and I've really liked the bonus items I received... well, except for the Helm of Deep, since its looks don't exactly fit a Dalish Rogue.
Anyone with an EA account can check out my character here, although the stats aren't entirely up to date yet as I'm posting this.

Also, I'm interested in more DA information because I was thinking of buying (or requesting it as a present) myself. So if you've got some details to share, please do

Well, right now I can add that I don't recommend playing Dragon Age with a Microsoft mouse. At this time, DAO isn't compatible with the Microsoft mouse scroll wheels, making it a bit bothersome to zoom in and out.
That's weird. Is it something in the Microsoft mouse drivers? If I plug in my Logitech mouse it gets installed automatically as a generic mouse, at least under Win XP - 7. I wonder why Microsoft mouses in particular have trouble, while others do not. I mean, if you don't install special drivers (like those for mouses with many extra buttons and wheels and functions and whatever), would they still not work? Not that you should uninstall the mouse drivers for this game alone, but still. Just curious.
Also; get a Logitech mouse! >=D

Also, with more hours put into the game, I've started playing it with a much more tactical approach in battle, often pausing the game, considering my options, and assigning individual orders to all four party members. People who don't want to do this will likely have to swallow their pride and play the game on Easy. (Although it might depend on your character build, and whether or not you've installed the 1.01 patch.)
On a related note, apparently the console version's Normal mode is roughly the equivalent of the PC version's Easy mode... although probably not anymore, since Easy was made easier in the above mentioned patch.

... Wait. Does that mean that this game, unlike most others before now, actually does mean it when it the NPC's say "Oh thank the Goddess you're here, you arrived just in time! Please save the princess from the castle before Bowser does unearthly things with her! Time is running out!"? Because usually I just say "Sure!" and then go off and have fun with some sidequests or whatever.
This could just be a wrong interpretation ofcourse, but meh, that'd still be awesome.

And the whole thing with the Party Camp was silly. I just had to click on an icon in the upper-right corner of the map. That's paying attention for you.

Now would be also very bad time to lose that clever scheme you're planning. - - - Kyr's Expospeak gag

I like the song, but that's about it. I might try the game at some point, though.Anyone else tried out (and subsequently gotten addicted to) Plants vs Zombies? I seriously can't stop playing it!

Sorry, I didn't hear you over the sound of my winter melons smashing all these bucketheads.
It's a very fun game, and I simultaneously bless and curse my dad for getting it for me.
In other news, my friend keeps telling me he's almost done with his copy of Dragon Age, and has promised to loan it to me once he has finished. I'm certain he's going to run through it a few more time with different character builds so I'm not holding my breath. But it does look fun, and I realy like the trailers I've seen so far. I tried installing the character builder thing-a-ma-jiggy on my PC, but apparently my video card is not supported or some such. Oh well. That's why I got my X-Box 360!
(Okay, I lie. I got my X-box 360 for Rock Band.)

Also: I recently got the chance to play Uncharted 2 at my brother's place, and if you own a PS3, go buy the game. All the laudations it gets are really deserved. It's a really gorgeous and cinematic game without feeling like a pretentious interactive movie like, say, the Metal Gear Solid series. The gameplay itself is pretty much the concept behind the Tomb Raider and Indiana Jones games taken to perfection, the characters and dialogue are engaging, and the voice acting is suberp. Well, the German one, anyway, though I heard the English one is great as well.
Really, Uncharted 2 is one of those must-have games. Of course, I'll always suggest renting a game first just to see if it is YOUR must-have game, but still, I love it.

I kinda wish there was a way to play that game competitively, I'd love to pit lawn tactics against each other. =P

Unlocked Shale, the semi-friendly Golem. I love his sense of humor. Recently we discussed elven superiority over humankind, and how the humans must simply be too stupid to realize the truth.
I was really looking forward to that, what with the mix between FPS and Diablo-style gameplay, but given what I've read about it I don't mind that I'll have to wait a good while. Probably a good game, but not good enough to justify my time and money right now.EDIT: Also, I haven't played it, but I hear Borderlands is fun.

Though exams finish the day before Assassins Creed 2 comes out, so that should be fun...

Level 13 archer Rogue, with a Ranger specialization granting me a pet wolf on the side. (Hello, World of Warcraft!) I really dig the Dragoon-like helmet.

More like Hello, Dungeons and Dragons! if you ask me. WoW has Hunters, D&D has Rangers, both have pets. =D
Kinda low on budget atm., but I need to find a new game to test out my new laptop. (This one: although in Dutch because I can't find an English translation, I'm sure the numbers should do most of the talking.)
Having a hard time deciding what to go for. Interested in:
- L4D2
- Borderlands
- Dragon Age (<- but never played KotOR or similar, or even their 2D games, so it's hard to know if I'll fully enjoy it... I heard it's something you either like or dislike =P)
- Something a bit older so my budget won't drop to minus, but not sure what yet.
What would you go for? =)

Are the pets summoned in D&D? Because they are in Dragon Age...
Well, obviously I went for Dragon Age.What would you go for? =)
But I am just about to preorder L4D2 too, and Borderlands will probably be interesting eventually.
Today I foolishly picked up a preowned Dementium: The Ward for my DS. I shouldn't be throwing money around like this, but still I do.
