Why the F not?

“This decision is purely a strategic one and not due to any issues”  At least that's what the paper says.

Blow that for a game of soldiers. The US seriously needs some legislation to restrain landlords from abusing their tenants like that.

What means “for a game of soldiers”?

And the very idea of restraining Our Overlords is rank Communism! So sayeth Our Overlords.

I have a Go Fund Me set up for my moving expenses. It's doing far better than I expected.  I got an email from GFM this morning that I needed to set up my payout account.  No problem, I got those number Monday.  They wanted a photo, front, and back of my ID. I did that.

They rejected it as being expired. (which, granted, it is)

So a trip to the DMV ASAP is in the cards for me now.

More stress that I don't need, even though this one is more just a pain than an actual stress event. As long as it is all fixed by the end of August, I'm OK. They gave me until Nov. 5th.

I tried to renew my ID via the online form. It rejected my current address.  So, like a luddite, I have to go in person to the DMV.  Thankfully,  the number of hoops you have jump through to get a replacement ID is less than getting a new one.  Still a pain in the butt.

I took my daily walk to ProX, my rental agent, to talk to a human instead of “Lucy,” their AI text/email thing. I hate her.  The ProX staff doesn't like her either.  WTF are they using it anyway?

The one I wanted down south by the university was leased today, so that's right out. There is one farther north that is open right now, but they can't reserve it with out move in fee and despoit, which I don't have and will not have until
1) The state of Kansas sends me my new id (in theory a week from now) and I can finish up my GoFundMe payouts, so I can actaully get at that money or
2) The 3rd of next month when I get my normal disability payment.

The good news if I get the one up north, I'll be within biking distance of a real supermarket (and WalMart, if that matters).

I'm packing up book boxes right now. Overpacked one. Ow. Pulled a back muscle. Ow. Taking acetaminophen and wishing I could take something stronger. Taking a break until my back feels better.

Because some absolute moron in management got told it could replace a human and do the job just as well for less money. Then the moron had the almost as stupid AI set up, not understanding that it would do a worse job and cost more money.

They just assigned the wrong job to the AI. They should have given it the job of the management moron.

This is apparently already happening. Some managers are seemingly setting up AIs to make strategy decisions.

I see no possible way this could go terribly, terribly wrong.

There is a rather long blog post here that discusses the current state of AI on the market.

I'm on my 2nd day of stress diarrhea. Imodium is just barely working. I'm taking my “don't freak out” drug, but it makes me lethargic, which doesn't help the need to box stuff up. I've done 4 boxes today; I think I'm gonna take a break for a while. Plus, it's beastly hot right now. Gonna set the alarm to go off just at dawn so I'll have more time to pack before it gets hot in the house.

I went to get milk, but on the way there, I took a tumble.  I was wearing a helmet (note to self: buy a new helmet soon), but banged up my right arm.  Because I'm old and might have brittle bones, plus it's within walking distance (for now), I went to the clinic to have it X-rayed.  Not broken, but was told to keep weight off it for “a few days.”  This is gonna make packing hard. I've 5 and half days to finish packing.

I just moved my arm to move my mouse. Both my wrist and elbow told me not to do that again.  30 minutes before I can take drugs again.

Yesterday, before my fateful bike ride, I finished the upper cabinets of the kitchen, apart from the tea stuff. Now I'm dealing with bending over to get the stuff from the lower cabinets out and in boxes.  My hip is telling me I need to be doing that in short doses.  And the acetaminophen has worn off, and it's 2 hours to go on it.  I will finish the kitchen today; it just may take longer than I expected.

It's gonna be one of those kinds of days. I was making a pot of Masala chai and dumped the whole tin of it out. Well, damn. I'll be drinking Earl Grey and Lapsang Souchong until I finish the move. I've got a little shelf-stable milk left in the fridge; I'll see what Earl Grey tastes like with a little milk in it first.

I took a walk to the post office to do that change of address thing.  They are repaving, with asphalt, the road in front of it.  Asphalt is a known migraine trigger for me.  I'm starting to have one.  I'm gonna try to just use acetaminophen because I can't lose the rest of the day to imitrex dizzy.  This is less than optimal.

Between the heat and the imitrex dizzy, I'm done packing for a while. I've got my alarm set for 03:45. That means I should be working 4:15 or so. I've got the last-minute things and maybe two more boxes of stuff in the bedroom to do. They aren't supposed to be here until “afternoon,” so I'm sure when that is exactly.
