Well, it has come to my attention recently that SailorSun.org may not be a good title anymore for the webcomic?

Why? Well, a couple different reasons.
  • First of all, a lot of people get the name wrong, the name of the comic is ‘SailorSun DOT Org’. But a lot of people use Sailor Sun on there link pages. Which would cause most people to think it’s a Sailor Moon Fan Site;
  • Second, the name of the webcomic was derived from the Sailor Moon Fan fictions wrote over 10 years ago. The real only reason the SailorSun.org domain is used is because I already owned it from when I purchased the SailorSun.com site;
  • And, third (which I only discovered this past weekend). Here’s what happened, I was advertising on a podcast banner’s site. One of the things this podcast does when broadcasting is announce whom is advertising on there site. This is a little extra for the advertisers by the advertise-es. I happen to be listening to the podcast when they plugged the site. And instantly there was a negative reaction on the chats. The chat wasn’t remarking about SailorSun.org, but another webcomic site they didn’t seem to like which had a similar name. And for the next 20 minutes, the chatters kept negatively remarking on SailorSun.org, not realizing they were actually talking about another webcomic.
I’m not planning on giving up the SailorSun.org domain name. But many it’s time to consider a new name for the comic. Something that won’t cause so much confusion. I may even go so far as to purchase another domain name for the new-comic name.

You can say the website they were commenting negatively on, it's not like we don't know what it is.

I can, but I choose not too. I know, if someone WAS actually talking negatively about my website, I wouldn't want it to be named in a public forum/context.
Out of the hundreds that might know which website, there might be one who doesn't. And that one may someday be a loyal reader.

And didn't your mother teach ya, "If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all."

The website that was talked about is one, I read and frequent. Though it isn't amongst my favorite, it's still one I'll keep checking it's updates.

I can see why changing the name would be understandable, I like the comic, but its name always confused me I didn't even know its true name until right now

First, I want to say you shouldn't let others force you to change the name (especially if you don't have a new name that would fit as well or better).

However, second, I'd like to know what the name actually means to you, since I was under the impression the comic only starts after Bay Smith *stops* being Sailor Sun.

You can handle it either way. Dan Shive started a comic with a title that had nothing to do with its characters or its content, and kept it to this day. On the other hand, David Willis had a successful strip about roommates in college (and named after that), and then shifted the plot and renamed it after a previously minor character (which resulted in some fans declaring holy war on him).

The name of the comic, 'Sailorsun.org' basically exists because I owned Sailorsun.com. I purchased SailorSun.org to be a mirror site for the other one. But after years of not doing anything with it, I decided I use it for my webcomic.

That's about it. Not very exciting.

Maybe you could move the .org site to the .com site and just make the stuff on the .com area a new area of the .com site called stories. Also (a litle off-topic) what ever happened to the Cast area of the web-comic I can't find it since the revamp

I'll admit the name does confuse me when i started reading it, but I have learn why it was called what it was, and it has not changed how I felt about the comic, it a good read and i look forward to reading more. I can't think of any good name except for maybe like Bay & Honey, but unsure if you get the same message across from where it comes from.
