So, an issue with the logic of "Beam+Paste" over "Paste+Beam" is that it seems like clothes ripping would still be an issue.

Because if Ellen uses the beam first and resizes the clothes to fit that form, then pastes a scan of someone who's still larger than the target, clothes will be too tight a rip.

But if she pastes first, clothes will potentially rip before she gets a chance to beam and resize them.

Ellen would have to be able to simultaneously use both spells so the the beam is resizing clothes as the paste spell is doing it's thing.

Susan, with or without V5, wearing Rhoda's normal summer wear?  Yes, please, I'll have more of that, if I may.

"thank you suh, may I have another?"

That wouldn't help, because the beam would STILL only adapt clothes to the beam function and not to the paste. Paste (unlike copy) can result in clothes ripping and no other spell Ellen has can "fix" that, unless she deliberately adapt person's size to roughly match target with beam, then apply paste.

Note that copy ALSO doesn't adapt clothes - it COPIES clothes. Adapting clothes to copied form is not on list of Ellen's abilities, apparently. Probably because it's too complicated to solve in general case.

Yup, also forgot how the variants work. Sheesh, thought we have an easy cheatsheet now.

So changing the order of spells can change some of the effects of spells.

English speaking children learn a lot of spelling rules.  I before E and so on.  It looks like Ellen needs to figure out a whole new set of "Spelling" rules.

Paste before Beam
Won't bust a seam

The technical term is grammar and she has like two types of spells, nothing complicated.

So, Rhoda turned into Susan, whom Cat had feelings for.

Cat turned into Diane, whom Rhoda had feelings for.

.....

This could make for an interesting night for those two.

BTW, totally not awkward. Well, awkward for us, but not for them - they only see what the other one morphed into, unless they look into mirror. (Also, I think I would survive awkwardness of them kissing ... not likely real Susan and Diane would ...)
