I'm not sure how many people here know of it, so I thought I'd make a topic about it here.

MS Paint Adventures is a webcomic done by artist Andrew Hussie, who manages to pull off some pretty interesting things with it. Originally the comic was similar to a text based game, where the player would input commands on a "==>" thing. In fact, until towards the end of his third comic, Problem Sleuth, you could actually input commands through a chat box to influence the comic. He's currently on his fourth comic set which goes by the name of Homestuck. It starts with a simple boy on his thirteenth birthday, and escalates to, well, something like this and more. Please note that some of the pages may be a bit CPU intensive... And the plot may be confusing as all hell. But it's still definitely worth looking at.

Also, you may want to make sure you have time for an archive binge before you start reading this stuff.

Thanks to Koal from the Middle Ground for making the animation.

Well I'm surprised I'm still surprised at all at MSPA's plot twists given how many of them there have been.

Spoiler

That said, it's good to see that things are still enjoyable despite the massive number of plot twists and that Hussie's ability for foreshadowing Makes for interesting "Aha!" moments.

Also, It's sad how few have posted here given how often MSPA comes up in the IRC.

I recently discovered Homestuck, myself. It has quickly become one of my favorite webcomics.

I am still amazed how often it updates (usually several times per day) and I am constantly looking forward to the next twist/reveal/[S] animation. I've been trying to get more of my friends to read it (though mostly unsuccessfully...), so let me just say one thing: don't let the size of the archives daunt you. This webcomic is so engrossing that you won't even know you've blazed through the archive before you start obsessively hitting the refresh button to see if the next update has arrived.

To top it all off, the albums are awesome.

Very much seconded, Vast. I'm listening to Strife as I type this, as a matter of fact.

After putting it down for awhile, I'm back into reading the archives. Just finished Act 4 and…

Now I find that we're following the Trolls exclusively. Does anyone else find them annoying? I'd rather just follow the four kids and leave everything else as short asides.

Of course, I don't want to miss anything either… Anyone have any advice? Can I safely skip this act and just read the summary? Is there any reason reading this bit with the trolls isn't an annoying waste of time?

I suppose you could just read the recaps but I really don't recommend it. The whole reason for act five is that the trolls become very important from there on, even if the next act doesn't focus on them exclusively, and the background act five gives is necessary.

Eventually, the trolls really start to become likable. If you don't read through, you mint miss that and end up hating the story (which might happen anyway). My advice, as always, is to allow Hussie to show you where he's going, even when it feels like he's not going anywhere.

Very, very true. And the pacing on the troll story does pick up. And it does give a different perspective on SBURB/SGRUB and what it's meant to be. The trolls eventually allow us a greater understanding of its apparent intended purpose and what seems to be going right/wrong in both sessions. I say "seems" because this being Hussie, I know we're not getting the whole picture yet.

I actually quite liked the trolls. The kids annoy me about the same amount as the trolls, at least. Well, most of the trolls. I actually like finding out all this stuff about them.
I could actually roll around in a pile of troll-romance-exposition. I was just annoyed that there was a relationship without a name (an auspisticised pair).

Most of my MSPA activities consist of having none of the updates left to read (none of them) and reading a whole bunch of forum-adventures.
Fell from a rooftop. Killed by the female conspiracy.

Alliteration: An amazingly amusing activity, arguably annoying and abasingly arduous (slightly stressful to sustain such similarity for significantly sized sentences).

Imaginary people have their every activity recorded in here. (Link to profiles on other side.)
In the rare event I muster "creativity", stuff shows up in this dump.

With the arrival of the disc two updates, I have to say: The Alternian legal system is certainly not the most just but it may well be the most badass.

I used to think badly of the trolls, but now I think they're even more developed than the kids, character-wise at least.

I mean Vriska might be a huge something-rhymes-with-witch but it's enjoyable seeing her work. Same with Gamzee.

Ditto. I think Vriska's my favorite troll, too... and I really didn't like her. it wasn't until

that I really saw her in a new light.

Current status- caught up. I suppose it's strange that the only characters I really want to see get out of this at the end is Karkat, Vriska and Terese. Maybe Sollux and Jade too.

Started reading this a couple of weeks ago after finding out what all that fanart on DA and the like was of. Just started Act 3 and I still haven't seen any of the trolls that are splattered all over DeviantArt. But regardless I'm definitely enjoying it, even with seemingly random stuff happening all the time and a bunch of things that seem overley complicated that I'm not sure whether I'm really supposed to grasp/remember.
