About Me

[written July 6, 2012]

Well, it's been a year since I joined, and it's a special occasion, so I thought I'd finally make this "About Me" thingy.

Hi. I'm Zorua, in case that wasn't obvious. I was born in the northwestern US, lived there for 13 years. And boy did I love it there. Cold winters. Snow! SCENERY! It was great up there. Sadly, my family had to move, and now I live on the south coast. Which sucks! Okay, the school system here turned out to be way better, and I've achieved more here than I could've if I'd stayed behind, but it's too humid here and there's no winter. Too many bugs. Traffic is annoying. I wanna go back home.

For my personal life, I'm kind of a loner. I usually stick to myself. But really, I'm just shy and quiet. Think of me like a male version of Sakaki from Azumanga Daioh. I'm much more outgoing and talkative on the Internet. I like orchestrated music, Nintendo games, camping, and good stories (emphasis on "good"). As for family and things, well… Dad left when we moved, and I only saw him twice since then, the last of which was Summer 2004. I couldn't care less about him, though. I have two younger brothers: one 8 years younger than me and diabetic, the other 13 years younger than me. I still live with Mom at this point, mostly because I'm dirt poor. But I am in college, so I'm on my way to a better paycheck. I was in Boy Scouts, and through them, I hiked at Philmont Scout Ranch twice (2005 and 2008), and yes, I did achieve Eagle Scout.

And people in real life might recognize me now with that info. Hi, people that know me IRL!

But enough about that. Maybe you're wondering about why I started reading EGS and joined the forum. Well, I first got into TG when I discovered Misfile in late 2010. It was gradual, but I finally started to read more TG stuff. EGS being the second. If it helps, I found both through TV Tropes, so you know where I came from at least. I first started reading EGS in March '11. Read the whole thing up to wherever it was, then crawled through it. I finally decided to join the forum on June 2, 2011. A few days wait for membership processing or whatever the heck it was, and I finally started posting on the 6th. And I've been a regular forumite ever since.

Now, I've read plenty of TG stories since then, and even started writing some of my own. So, obviously, I have no problem with the whole TG concept. Applying it to myself, after over a year and a half of thinking about it, I can safely say that I wouldn't care much if I was TG'd. I'm a straight male inside and out (albeit a shy one who may as well be asexual), but like I said, I wouldn't care much if I was a girl, so long as my mind was left alone, and that's what's important. Also, I'm supportive of the LGBT community. I don't judge based on that. Just as long as the gay guys don't try to hit on me or anything. No thanks. Not interested.

Oh, you were wondering about my assortment of characters that I keep using all around the Games threads? …You weren't? Huh. Okay, never mind then.

Leslie: Hey, don't just ignore the question. Answer it.

Me: Oh, alright. That was Leslie, my twin sister. In real life, she doesn't exist. I first imagined her up as myself turned female for the "Gender Bender For A Day" thread in the Off Topic section. But then, the "What if You Were Duplicated" thread was made, so I started to wonder about her being spun off into her own existence. Then, on October 23, 2011, I started up a story idea where exactly that happened. Leslie?

Leslie: Effectively, I'm his "Ellen". His memories up until the moment of my spontaneous and inexplicable creation, then my own existence from then on. I don't have magic or super science or anything like that. Other than me suddenly spawning into existence with no explanation, my world is exactly identical to reality. I'm his twin sister, and at this point the fact that I'm technically his clone is pretty much buried under all the junk in the closet.

Me: That's not exactly what I look like. The hair's not that long, and there's supposed to be a mustache too. Plus I have a gut in real life. Still, this is close enough.

Leslie: Pretty darn close to what I look like, too. Maybe the face is a bit off.

Me: Well, that thing doesn't have variations for the shape of the face. This is good enough anyway.

Leslie: Yep. Anyway, the others.

Me: Right. I'm a writer in my spare time. Nothing professional; it's just a hobby. But my imagination tends to run wild from time to time. When I think of something, I get the idea to write something like it. Some introductions to the regulars I bring around here are in order now, though there won't be any pictures anymore. Sorry.

Derek Parker is the main character of a story I'm working on, entitled "Powers TG". I've already posted a few chapters on deviantART, so you can go there to see what he's all about. Or you could stay here for a sec. Derek has the power to transform into various girls, each with a unique superpower but all sharing the same name of Amelia Powers. Sounds like Elliot/Cheerleadra, right? Hey, ya gotta find influence somewhere. His new friend Lauren Carter knows his secret and helps him when he needs it in the civilian side of life. On the government side, the secret is kept by FBI Agent Richard Swanson. Much later in the story, Hannah joins the picture with powers of her own. I have a lot of writing to do to catch up to where Hannah joins the cast, though, but I promise it'll be worth the wait.

Susan Anderson, age 16, is one of the main characters (not the main character, but a main character) for a story that, in truth, had its roots in early 2005. This story is a Pokémon fanfiction set in a region I made up (to keep the story out of canon places and away from canon characters). Susan wasn't created until 2007, and her past and personality have changed so much that, in my opinion, she's more engaging a character than the true main characters themselves. Susan is a highly skilled Champion-level Trainer with an all-star team consisting of Gura (her starter, a Mightyena), Kuro (Crobat), Deru (Houndoom), Baru (Metagross), and her specialty, Runa (Lunatone). She's a brilliant strategist and has ten years of experience under her belt, and more than ten years of maturity weighing down on her. How she got there is a long story, one that I'm not going to tell here because spoilers.

Olivia Hall and Katherine "Kate" Thomas are unique ones. Olivia is very tech-obsessed but definitely doesn't look the part. Kate was a bit of a free spirit. But thanks to an incident that's spoilers, Kate ended up reduced to one twelfth her original height, as well as ended up living with Olivia. I won't say why they ended up together (well not "together" together, more like friends) because spoilers, but at least in their appearances on the forum, they are very well adjusted, even happy.

And then there's Blade, a humanoid robot my imagination came up with when I was twelve. I pretty much left him behind when I moved, and only just recently revived him for the sake of the whole forum thing.

So, that's just about it. My stories are gonna be on deviantART when I finish 'em, so I'd take a look on over there. And I'll see you around the forum sometime. Adios.
