I wonder who Mr. Verres' successor is.

Today, I was driving around doing errands and suddenly said "Duh!" to myself.

It has to be Mrs. Kitsune. Not only is she in on the Masquerade and obsessed with secrecy, we actually see her order Wolf and Cranium around.

I like it, Dan. Nice opportunities for story conflict.

Problem with that idea is that it would be in Mrs. Kitsune's interest to protect her daughter (and her friends), which goes against the idea that the successor isn't going to be there to help the kids.

But then again, as long as they don't know who it is... they can't ask for help.

They want someone more interested in covering up than in helping people. It could be Mama Kitsune but I don't think it will be. I consider an entirely new character to be more likely than her, but if it absolutely has to be an existing story character I might be willing to buy into Verrückt getting transferred from school principal to head of supernatural coverups.

If you're thinking of Jerry's line, remember that he didn't know the girls knew Tedd until after he said it.

And I strongly suspect Mrs. K sabotaged Nanase's magic. That black hair color isn't "Your magic is burned out." It's "Your mom put a magic-suppressing curse on you." She would certainly consider many of Nanase's current friends (notably Justin, but also Tedd and some of the others) bad influences and have no problem with driving them away.

Actually, I was thinking about some commentary or twittering Dan did a while back, where he stated his reason for removing Mr. Verres from the position he used to have.

Not buying this at all. Mamase was nowhere around, and shouldn't even have known about what was going on at Moperville South, when Nanase came out of her angel form.

I like the idea. I don't know if it's remotely right, but your points make sense.

It's nice to know that someone other than me gets ideas while driving. Some of my best writing was outlined mentally while in a car.

My own professional writing is non-fiction, and since I need to do research it never happens while driving.

I write both fiction and non-fiction, but I never get ideas while driving. That's because I don't drive. :P Public transportation all the way.

I get great ideas in the shower though. :)

My "professional" writing would be non-fiction also (engineering reports - although I must qualify that I've been out of work for what seems like forever, so maybe that doesn't count anymore) and I still come up with ideas while driving. Something about it seems to help cure the writer's block.

Did I post this somewhere else?

Aberrations are vulnerable to weapons that are made of magic, right?

ELLEN is made of magic. She could devastate whole armies of aberrations.

For that matter, these days Nanase could summon Fox or a fairydoll to beat up aberrations, couldn't she?

Every little thing she does is magic!

The question is if Ellen's fists count as weapons, I guess.

Well, Jason D. Poit's fists count in the Deadly Weapon movies, so why not Ellen's hands, too?
