Does that one also have annoying NPCs with a tendency to wander off and get attacked during Escort Missions? And yes, I was talking about Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, Red/Blue Rescue Team.

So, that experiment where I'm trying to play Pokemon Platinum in sync with my binge-watch of the anime:

DP001: I start the game (as a girl named Dawn, naturally), select Piplup as my starter and make it to Sandgem Town by the end.

DP002: I move on to Route 202, start catching Pokemon and level grinding. Soon after this I find out that it took the characters until DP010 to get to Jubilife City. So I just keep grinding.

DP010: Enter Jubilife City, get the Poketch, and then go back to grinding on Route 202. If the game a Contest Hall in Jubilfe, I would have done a few to correspond to DP011 and 12.

DP013: I finally move on to Route 203, do a few battles, and I manage to evolve Starly with perfect timing.

DP015: I enter Oreburgh City, go to the mine.

DP016: I battle Roark and win. Since it took Ash another two episodes to beat him, I go back to catching and grinding.

DP019: Since the episode is entirely about Dawn catching Pachirisu, I decided to break the (self-imposed) rules a little, run as fast as I could to Route 205 and catch one as well. Succeeded with perfect timing. Heading back to Route 204 next.

They're roguelikes so of course they'll go out of their way to cancel out your hard ground experience,, escorting stupid NPC missions, can't take two steps w/o encountering an enemy, etc. .

  2. Flooding in parts of Palm Bay, mostly in low elevation parking lots in the NE quad Ironically the NW quad, which was built on Florida swampland is not flooded. Can't speak for SE or SW Palm Bay but like NW Palm Bay they're reclaimed swampland as well.

  3. I think this page confirms Ashley not only is a good fit for the main cast, she might one of the more intelligent members of them.

Diane seeking answers about the Spider Vampire questions makes me suspect some options about what Dan has planned to happen by next weekend, Moperville time. Susan and Diane will likely end up meeting. I have a few ideas on who might insist on the meeting narratively speaking but no guess on who actually will.

It's on my shopping list, because I don't have enough unfinished DS/3DS Games. Is it less frustrating than the original Mystery Dungeon?

I know you mean the one of the original two Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games but I'm gonna be a smart ass and ask if you mean the original game in the Mystery Dungeon series Torneko no Daibōken: Fushigi no Dungeon (meaning Torneko's Great Adventure: Mystery Dungeon) which is to Dragon Quest what Pokémon Mystery Dungeon is to Pokémon. The Mystery Dungeon series also has Chocobos and a Feudal Japan Era Rōnin called Shiren the Wanderer.

Were the giant velociraptors asian?  I thought they'd only been found that big in Utah.

True Velociraptors are Asian and they were peacock sized. What are shown were supposedly the North American Deinonychuses (which were just tall enough to bit of a man's junk) and they made them almost as big as another Asian inhabitant the Achillobators. Utahraptors were about polar bear sized. All of these genuses were members of the Dromaeosaurids

About Ellen's aversion to reading, there is the fact that the panel after Ellen's reaction "...but reading though", we have Elliot going "Oh hey, a bookstore! we should remember where that is for after we eat."  It's quite possible though Ellen's reaction is more in the context of "I'd rather be out searching rather than sitting here sifting through all the reports" and she'll still read books if they happen to be something that interests her.

Thanks, that's kinda what I meant but I wasn't expressing it well

  7. Here the problem as I see it. First  the spellbooks are not always as efficient as the could be. The language is archaic. The descriptions are complex, a spell or spell update can add any number of pages and they're probably not always tacked onto the end of the tome. We also don't know how good the Table of Contents and Index are. I suspect they list every spell and spell option in some way but we have no idea if it tell you what is new or updated. Nanase has a fairly hard time and she probably make the most concerted effort (though Susan would do so if not for her issues). Elliot isn't stupid and he's fairly diligent but he's not exactly cerebral and he typical learns better by doing something than reading about something. We saw how Ellen reacted to the idea of reading and considering her relation to Elliot (daughter/sister/magic female clone) I would imagine he'd share the same reaction.

The spellbooks don't just magically materialize in the possession of people who've just awakened. Jerry gave Susan hers, Mr. V gave Elliot and Ellen theirs. How they get the spellbooks is unknown; maybe wizards and immortals can create them. (Nanase has had hers for a while, if how she got it was shown then the Immortals gave it to her in France but I don't think it was shown.)

Nobody has given Justin one yet because nobody except Pandora knows he's awakened and she mostly isn't being that obvious. (HE doesn't know he's awakened - if Pandora gave him a spellbook, he would know.) So he's current in the clear regarding keeping up with changes to his spellbook.

She also might have given him a book (hiding it amongst his other belongings) and didn't let him know (which would so be like her if she did).
