      Welcome!   03/05/2016

Welcome, everyone, to the new 910CMX Community Forums. I'm still working on getting them running, so things may change.  If you're a 910 Comic creator and need your forum recreated, let me know and I'll get on it right away.  I'll do my best to make this new place as fun as the last one!

  1. When it comes to Justin, there may be a simpler explanation. The muscles were already developed, and when he awakened some body fat was converted for magical purposes. After all, low body fat is more important for lower torso definition than actual development - you can only make your core so large, and most isolated exercises for the region are inefficient and motivated by vanity. Tedd theorized about Nanase's chest, Elliot has become somewhat softer (youthful) in appearance, and Ellen was always awakened.

  2. You caught me before I could edit it, but I was going to remove the Ubisoft aside. Technically speaking, they made the decision to drop the console because they weren't able to get their desired return on investment. Since we don't have access to their internal financials, we can't actually say whether it would have been profitable to continue releasing titles. I suspect they were making money, but not enough money - most of the titles sold in the millions, many of them were ports. The finished game they dropped was a party game - not a top selling genre - and it may not have been a particularly good example of the genre. Cynically, I assume that the qualities of the game were major factors in the decision to suppress it. Anyway, these are just my bitter opinions on a particular situation, and they're not as well supported with evidence as I should like.

  3. Certainly, although the greatest problem with the Wii U is the same problem that plagues the Wii, the 3DS and the Vita: Major developers are unwilling or unable to experiment due to the pressures of capitalism, which result in conservative organizations developing products for the lowest common denominator to maximize sales and thus return on investment. I'm still bitter about Ubisoft's rolling delays and cancellations, culminating in canceling finished games because - although they would be profitable and the investment was already made - there were not enough Wii U consoles in market for the titles to be "profitable enough".

  4. I seldom encounter criticism of Liefeld's plotting, merely because his character design is a more accessible target. That, and he did record himself inking and driving, which is a splendid way to die with disappointing art on your hands. I know I read parts of Deathstroke, Hawk & Dove, Grifter and that other one when New 52 hit, but I must admit, I mostly remember his SHRINK! strips, which were really quite bad and I wish I could forget them. All this said, when he relaunched Extreme/Awesome at Image, we did get some great intelligent stories produced by other creators, such as Prophet with Brandon Graham, and Glory with Sophie Campbell and Joe Keating.

Optimistically, Dan can replace these qualities with alternatives that are just as limiting. Pessimistically, we may not get there due to pacing anyway.

  6. I don't use voice in games, but I do use Discord and listen in. Of the dozens of audio services I've used, it is perhaps the most effective. Vocal quality is reasonable, bandwidth is reasonable, updates keep rolling in.

    I heart Splatoon.

  7. When it comes to romance, it is greatly about how you feel on the way, not merely how you feel beforehand. I think this is what people miss when they ship characters - the viewer has more information, but limited access to the interior of the experience, and this distorts her view. In this case, I feel there is too much attention on a full triangle, while the individual relationships don't have the requisite mutual understanding. If a healthy polyamorous relationship is to arise between Grace, Tedd and Sarah it has to start with an exploratory relationship between Sarah and Tedd or Sarah and Grace - the experience there would inform and clarify her position, afford her choice if you will. Simply "adding" another person is seldom functional, because a polyamorous relationship is a composite of component relationships between individuals.

  8. I should broaden my science fiction and fantasy reading, as my resurgence has been dominated by mysteries and thrillers. These have accounted for between 40% and 60% of my yearly consumption for the last four years running. This year I believe I've read twice as many mysteries and thrillers than I have science fiction and fantasy combined.

In terms of fantasy, I've always had a soft spot for Tamora Pierce and another for Ursula LeGuin, although I have yet to read anything beyond the first Earthsea trilogy. I dipped into Lois McMaster Bujold but may not continue. I'm making an effort with science fiction this year, reading some Kloos and Scalzi but nothing of long standing.

  9. If you're new to Steam, just try to pace yourself. Make sure you try an hour of anything you buy, within a week or so of the purchase. If you don't like it, you can refund it. In my experience, people who tend to slip down the slope are buying games they don't actually enjoy, or simply never get around to playing, because they're deals. Good luck!
