  1. So riddle me this Batman, why is this spell so energy-intensive?  If all this is just basically a lucid dream, shouldn't that be relatively low power?

I mean it's awesome and all...if I had Sarah's ability I would probably spend most of my time using it....but if this is all just in her head it doesn't seem like it should use a lot of energy.

Maybe it actually creates a little pocket dimension that she's experiencing through some sort of astral travel?  That would eat up a ton of energy I suppose.

Oh and one other thing - until I read the commentary I thought the "holy crap" was her realizing what a weird expression she left on Grace's face. :)

  2. So it looks like Operation Tiny Kitty is about to commence.  I wonder how/if spells interact in the EGS-verse.  Will one cancel the other (tiny normal Catalina), will they combine cleanly (tiny Catalina with kitty ears and tail) or will they combine in some odd way (fully feline Catalina, only tiny? something more random?)?

I know, I know, most likely the only real question is whether the clothes will shrink or not.  Given that this comic is PG-13 at its most extreme, I'm guessing the clothes will either all shrink or at the very least her underwear will.  Although, furry Catalina would solve the clothing problem....just sayin'.

Combine Cat Girl-ageddon with Mall Girl-ageddon.

This sounds like levels in a game, or stacking power-ups.

    1.  Everyone is a catgirl.   (CatgirlAgeddon)

    2.  Everyone is a pink-haired, busty catgirl.  (MallGirlageddon)

    3.  Everyone is a tiny, pink-haired, busty catgirl.  (Shrinkageddon)

    4.  Everyone is a flying, tiny, pink-haired, busty catgirl (Fairyageddon)

    ...and the ageddon's go on....

Well, there is "Oblivious Wand Waving". But it might not count because no one knew anything happened...Well maybe two people knew.

Shame we didn't see Adrian follow up on her threat.

Oblivious Wand Waving is still one of my favorite sequences in EGS or EGS:NP.  Not only the random transformations, but Tess was adorable and I liked seeing her with Elliot.  Male Sarah with Grace was also an interesting pair.  And yes, we should have seen female Adrian (Adria? Adrielle?) get her revenge!

No, Catalina Sphynx would be worse. She'd look like she had a rat tail.

...hm, not a big fan of hairless cats.  Now on the other hand, Catalina as a sphinx (as opposed to a sphynx) would be neat. :)

So I assume there's some background for Catalina being a bobcat that I'm missing/forgetting?

In other words, bad but so hot.

See this is why EGS needs more villains who will do the things we all know are wrong....but would be cool to see. :)  Kind of like the Evil Mad Bomber What Bombs at Midnight.  Yeah he's completely crazy but haven't we all wanted to blow something up?  We just need an Evil Mad Morpher What Morphs in Moperville....or something.

Now, there's the Circe we all know and love! ;)

Aw, now you're gonna make me blush.  Not as much as Rhoda thinking about catgirls, but still.

I wonder which was more interesting to her -- the fact that there would be lots of catgirls, or the idea of lots of random people, both guys and girls, turning into them?

I also have to wonder how Moperville would handle a sudden influx of catgirls.  Are there enough shiny things to entertain them all?  Will there be catnip dealers on every corner?  Who will explain to parents, husbands, and wives that their has been a bit of a change in their loved ones' lives?

If she can transform other people, how long until she sets up a little business, and what would she charge to turn your ornery boyfriend into a catgirl?   Would there be coupons? Inquiring minds want to know!

I'm actually gonna call it here and say that the change blindness is soo strong right now, that even if Catalina and Rhoda were to draw attention with the way they leave the mall, people will just see two girls acting goofy and the cat ears and tail still won't be noticed.

Sounds like a story premise I've seen once or twice, where a person can alter reality but only they remember the old reality.  It's a scary concept, but interesting anyway.

  8. I'm having a hard time believing that no one noticed a girl wandering around with cat ears and a tail.  They might assume she's wearing a costume, although it would have to be an awfully good one.

    3 hours ago, ijuin said:

What's odd is that Rhoda hasn't reacted, given that she is paying quite a lot of attention to Catalina . . ,

I totally agree.  How could she miss that her girlfriend, who she's snuggling against, has cat ears and a tail that were not there a few minutes ago?

I think it only makes sense if the spell includes a "pay no attention to the feline features" component.  Maybe no one notices unless Catalina herself draws attention to them?

I may be projecting...an old daydream of mine was that I was someone/something completely different but no one could tell.  Yes, I was a very bored high school student. :)

  9. Hah!  I totally called the evil twin thing! :)

    From the last episode's discussion:

    Quote

Maybe someday we can have an evil version of Ashley running around Moperville on a TF rampage....a girl can hope can't she?

I have to wonder, though, why Ashley is not eligible for a spell to transform herself. She seemed interested in the idea when she and Elliot talked on their date. Given that she likes a lot of contrast, I'd expect to see her tf would be a big strong male form, possibly of a different race. So basically Greg. :)

Sigh.  I'm really disappointed in this...but not surprised.

Early in EGS, everyone speculated that Dan was Grace.  I still think that has truth to it.  Ashley is another aspect of Dan in my opinion.  Dan likes the sorts of things that Ashley does - but also feels it would be wrong to do them.  Sadly that means that Ashley (most likely...I still have hope) will not get a spell.

It makes me wish that there were a darker version of Pandora about, handing out powers.  It would be interesting (at least to me) to see Ashley have such abilities and struggle not to use them for selfish/immoral purposes.

Sorry, I tried to edit this post but I kept getting blank text in the editor.

Anyway after reading Dan's commentary I need to remove the "I still have hope" part since he intends to emphasize that Pandora cannot mark Ashley in the next NP.

Maybe someday we can have an evil version of Ashley running around Moperville on a TF rampage....a girl can hope can't she? :)

it's worth noting that Larry's plan isn't necessarily as flawed as it seems. Magic certainly can transform someone into a girl, and Elliott's Secret Identity Forms prove that transformation can include the mind, so the only actual reason Larry's plan is flawed is that there is no inherent "male way of thinking" and "female way of thinking"- he could be transformed into Grace, and think like Grace ( which raises interesting philosophical questions about if that is functionally death or not- if someone is completely different, should they be considered the same person? ( legally speaking, they are- death is when the brain irreversibly stops working- but are they really the same person? In EGS, I would say yes, since magic is reversible, even if only by using a spell exactly countering the other(in other words, if someone was permanently transformed, permanently transforming them into their original form again.) in the real world? it's debateable.)) but there's no inherent difference between how Larry and Female Larry would think. ( witness Elliott and Ellen. she thought more-or-less exactly like Elliott, barring a joke about men not asking for directions, until she made a conscious choice to act differently, and nurture caused divergence as time went on.)

Body chemistry influences the mind, and men and women have different body chemistries. A transformation as thorough as the TF gun certainly would influence thinking. The question is how much? I would love to do the experiment.

Larry's simple goal (understanding how an attractive woman thinks) certainly opens up a lot of questions that plague TG writers and stories.  Wouldn't the important question here be how Pandora thinks the spell should work?

It seems to me that the spell would have to give him a female personality, as though he had been born and raised as a girl.  F-Larry (Lori?) might even need female memories so that she could dress and act appropriately.  But then when she changes back to Larry, he would need to remember what she was thinking and feeling.  I'm curious what Larry would then do with that knowledge - I assume at least he would be able to get over the hangups so many guys have in talking to girls.

I'd love to see Lori but it occurs to me that Pandora could give him a spell that is purely a mental change.  That would be interesting...

I hope she does actually give him a spell.  I know we did not see it at the card game but maybe he just had not triggered it yet.

Yeah, this is actually a point of contention. Y'all can be (and is frequently) used on a single individual, with  "all y'all" being used for a group. I personally only occasionally use "all y'all" and instead just use "y'all" as both plural and singular. ~shrug~ Sometimes I also just say "you".

The way my Southern relatives explain it is like this:

    You - one person

    Y'All - one - four people

All y'all - five or more people

    :)

Hellooo?  Where is everyone?  If one Q&A could provoke discussion, I'd think it would be this one...

Honestly?  I've been pretty bored with this Q&A.  Yes, the information is interesting and the art is cute....it's just lacking the over-the-top fun that Q&A's normally have.  I've giggled here and there but I find myself looking forward to the story starting back up.

I wish Elliot would just use the darn alternate identities. They seem like they're going to waste.

Quoted for truth.  We've seen this sort of reasoning before and it's just getting more annoying with repetition.

Maybe he'll end up with other alternate ID's until he's happy with one?  That could get interesting...it's one thing for Elliot to like being a superheroine, but what happens if he starts to like being a normal girl with a slightly different personality?  Not to mention I'd love to see what other forms his spellbook would come up with while trying to find one he likes. :D

My wild guess is that Elliot just got a spell that will help him deal with being outed as Cheerleadra.

That's an interesting thought.  Maybe something like Nanase's Fox spell, something that would let super-Elliot and Elliot appear at the same time?

Some of the formulae would have to reflect the opposite of the book's owner's personality, since Elliot had to do the opposite of how he felt (i.e., he had to start liking girly spells) in order to get what he wanted (i.e., non-girly spells). That is, assuming that the new spell doesn't turn him into a horse or something similar.

Personally I think an equine form for Elliot would be great!

    I may be somewhat biased.
