      Welcome!   03/05/2016

Welcome, everyone, to the new 910CMX Community Forums. I'm still working on getting them running, so things may change.  If you're a 910 Comic creator and need your forum recreated, let me know and I'll get on it right away.  I'll do my best to make this new place as fun as the last one!

Also, his comment in the commentary about EGS's 30th year made me realize we're coming up on 20. 20 YEARS!

And I've been following since about 2008. 10 years, more than half of the comic's run. That's about 40% of my life so far, on my god.

...why does she need to make excuses at all?  Everyone knows she's magic now, and everyone knows now how weird magic can be; can't she just say "it's magic"?

Er no. There's still all of her school mates, who have no reason to believe Ellen specifically has magic even if they know beyond any doubt that magic is a thing.

Speaking about it, how could that stupid yellow mouse became icon of Pokemon? It's barely more interesting than actual rat or pigeon.

It's the signature Pokemon of the main character of the anime, which was, and probably still is, the main media vehicle for promoting the franchise.

I have a client with the last name Walker.  They named their son Luke, because they figured by the time he was in school, no one would remember that silly sci-fi movie from years before!

    Bwahahahaha!

Yes, you mentioned that. Unfortunate, but not quite at the level where I start to suspect active malice on part of the parents. Why do some people have to inflict names on their children that practically guarantee that they will be harassed and persecuted for them once they enter school?

Well, I knew a Luke in my high school, but the obvious Star Wars joke was done once, and then we continued with our lives.

Well ... we also have Arthur ... we can't rule out his name is Bernard Bernard.

I would not be startled to learn that his full name is Bernard B. Bernard. With his middle name possibly being Bernard.

Begs the question of who'd name their kid that.

Noted. (...Actually, looking at the usage guides on wiktionary, even replacing "transgendered" with "transgender" in my sentence wouldn't have fully corrected it; it probably should have been "transgender people" (minus the preceding "the" of course)...)

(A bit of a heads up: it's likely I'll make similar mistakes in the future. I'm not very social, and this forum is pretty much the only community where I have a chance to talk about such things; as a result I'm a bit out of touch with the correct terminology. Please do continue to correct me, but try to be gentle. :) )

El Goonish Shive is how I first heard of gender fluidity, the forums are how I heard of several other terminologies, and overall, I'm pretty sure El Goonish Shive is the first webcomic I read with same-sex relationships.

Whatever animal it was from, the Golem recognized it, so maybe the war between Uryuoms and Humans back then was over that scale, or the animal it came from? I guess if Uryuoms objected to Humans slaughtering dragons(maybe) to take their power, then I can understand why they'd go to war with Humans back then.

I don't think so. Heka was referring specifically to the Uryuom's situation when they assaulted the library. If it was over dragons, he would have said cause.

It seems that Ellen still has some not-quite-resolved issues regarding Tedd.
I'm going to guess that her suspicions will, in a not too distant future storyline, lead to at least one of the following outcomes.

    • Someone will get hurt because she didn't trust Tedd.
    • She will end up saving everyone because she didn't trust Tedd.

I thought they resolved the worst of it with One Way Road?
