I mean, think of what she's done before.
Maybe after all that crap that's happened to her, she doesn't feel comfortable being that way anymore. -
Have all the bisexual haircut jokes been made yet?

I'm totally using "YES! ME GIRL! HAPPY LADY GIRL WOMAN!" next time somebody asks me a stupid question about my gender.

Edward was fired for unprofessional conduct affecting his ability to carry out his job, not for caring. The others might goof off but they are all able to handle their jobs. It is also a higher position, so there is less room for mistakes.
Of course, it brings up what will happen if it comes to light that he was being influenced outside his own control.

Wow, Michigan J. Frog got ugly.
also yer a wizard ashley whatever -
I would say the main mistake that Magus is making is that he considers himself to be the baseline Ellen when the baseline for this Ellen is Elliot, which would alter the situation in ways that he probably can't process right now.
The secondary mistake is that they're wasting time arguing inside of a warehouse filled with active hoob-joobery. -

It is unlikely, as the statistic given allows for a handful more of them to have survived, but they will probably go deep into hiding after witnessing that genocide.

Yep, exploded like a worm outside of its host. Parasites generally aren't built for self defense.
Anyway, now to wait and see what happens when you blow up a crate with an active artifact in it. -
maybe she's born with it, maybe it's Magic™
I would imagine Sirleck's physical body is probably about as weak and vulnerable as a parasite outside of its host. -
11 hours ago, Illjwamh said:My theory is that she is an awakened mage. I'm guessing Sirleck hasn't ever tried to possess anyone with any real magic ability before.
If true, that means his plan to possess Magus was doomed to failure anyway, so if that's not it, Ellen becomes a lot cooler.my theory is that since ellen's existence is not entirely natural (note that magus reads her aura as being similar to the diamond), that certain things regarding the effects of magic don't work on her the same way as they did with sirleck's previous hosts

I suspect magic is withholding the info from Tedd to keep her focused on dealing with the immediate issues and to give her some time to process everything. It seems like magic understands what is going on with Tedd, but I guess since Tedd has been expressing herself through magic so often, that magic would probably have a better read on her than other people.
Of course, that's still ultimately for what could be considered selfish for magic.

You'd be surprised by what some of the gen z folks have figured out with the proper environment.

Arthur wants Edward on good terms, due to his talent for averting cataclysmic crises and his superiors would be concerned about oversight and legal obligations (and his direct superior is a good friend to Edward). Tedd will likely want the resources, but if she didn't want to work for Arthur, I doubt there would be much he could do about it.
My concern is honestly more about whether or not his superiors would give him the authorization to do that. The Paranormal Division's SOP has been suppression of magical knowledge for as long as the Division has existed. They are part of a law-enforcement agency, and as such their mandate may be specifically focused on protecting the people, but it might still take some effort for Arthur to convince Assistant Director Leifeld (or worse, Leifeld's superiors) on the change in SOP, especially after his assurances of letting some incidents go public would solve the division's problems for decades.
the facts have been laid bare and they can't really do anything about it except adapt. it would be very easy to prove the circumstances have changed, and even if Arthur has to step down, they'll still have to figure something out, and they don't have the luxury of time.

Just now, hkmaly said:Yeah, I suppose that's how Dan intended it ... I just find that hard to believe. Tedd gave Edward the watches and told him they're powered by magic and needs to be tested if working outside Moperville magic anomaly ... HOW could Edward interpreted it without realizing that what Tedd is doing is noteworthy if not groundbreaking?
... I want to see his face when he realizes this. I know, it would be covered by his palms, if not table, but still.
I think that he was mistakenly assuming that Tedd had just been making the watches by using the gauntlet to enchant things with copies of the TF gun's spells (but in Earth magic instead), instead of, y'know, reassembling the fabric of reality with his mind. Tedd also made the same mistake...and it sounded like the more reasonable assumption to the point where nobody would guess the latter if they had no idea of it existing.

It's so obvious kid can see it ... well, Arthur would also realize it if given time, he was just shocked by it.
Also, "guilt's a waste of time" ... sounds too philosophical for him, did his mother told him that? Perhaps related to some guilt she feels but likes to pretend she doesn't?
Also, Arthur offered work to Tedd. Took him much longer than I expected. Seriously, thousand seers is more that they expected, but it's still rare enough to employ any seer before someone else does. Not speaking about the fact that if he would be reading Edward's reports, he should've already realized Tedd's potential.
Note: It's not just ticking clocks. If there are some issues in current magic system, DGB is already aware of them and can handle them. Unknown magic system would have flaws which would get longer to notice than just learning how to cast the spells.
I think Edward hasn't caught on to what Tedd's full potential has really amounted to (or has outright chosen to ignore most of what goes on with his wacky kid in favor of just sending in bland summaries of those activities)...otherwise, he might have figured out that he was making wands. From that perspective, the reports would look like just some kid who couldn't use magic doing completely mundane things with existing magical devices/systems. Compared to all the ridiculous shit that Tedd's friends get up to, he would probably hardly register at all as a person of interest in the reports.

I like how magic is more concerned about it not being used than the possibility of giant, unstable rifts in the fabric of existence.

I would expect that if magic use does get mainstream and widespread, that there would have to be the establishment of more public and large scalable means of magic enforcement, and the only ones who would be qualified on a technical level to manage that would be the seers, because they can directly observe all forms of magic and know how to regulate it thoroughly, perhaps working in conjunction with cooperative immortals who have pledged to an ironclad contract.

6 hours ago, ChronosCat said:So, the Will of Magic has no tact, but it does care about Tedd's emotional well being? I wouldn't have guessed that. I wonder, does it care about what all humans feel, or just a select few including Tedd? And does it actually have something like human empathy and compassion, or is it's concern for Tedd merely pragmatic (overly emotional people tend not to be good at making rational arguments)?
...
Starburst alert in panel five, but I'm still taking a break from cheering for backgrounds in the story comics.
If the sole three people chosen to discuss the matter haven't given their best input on a big decision, then magic is not doing its job, so it's just trying to get the business out of the way. Also, the subject of Pandora is also relevant to the situation.

2 hours ago, hkmaly said:Tedd is genderfluid and can actually transform to other gender, and not even just enchantment, real deal. Calling him straight is either meaningless or would imply he likes boys and only boys when girl, which doesn't seem to be the case. Grace is actually closer to being straight than Tedd.
(Also, we declared Elliot not "truly straight" based on his feelings when transformed too, didn't we?)
Grace's attraction is more based on the other person's mind rather than their body, so I would say that her sexuality isn't defined by human standards, but more from her other heritage. Even "sapiosexual" (a term that I don't entirely approve of) would go in an entirely different direction.

great job, you came here to connect with possible family and now you've given her an existential crisis
-
I have an urge to turn the second panel into an Arthur meme.
Anyway...
A refresh, to me, would involve one of two options:
1. A permanent relinquishing of power and unimportant memories to fuel regeneration of the self, while retaining a minor fraction of her power and the most relevant memories that would preserve the person she wants to be for her family, while discarding the chaotic self she once was. This untested process, however, might result in all sorts of wacky shenanigans, such as turning her mortal.
2. Sealing away a majority of herself to allow for her mind to breathe until her worldly business has been settled, and she is ready to reset properly. This would be a temporary measure, and it also has its own risks if the seal does not work.

I'm assuming the main issue with the plan is that dudes aren't thinking about that kind of thing until they're out of high school
