    Edward was fired for unprofessional conduct affecting his ability to carry out his job, not for caring. The others might goof off but they are all able to handle their jobs. It is also a higher position, so there is less room for mistakes.

    Of course, it brings up what will happen if it comes to light that he was being influenced outside his own control.

    It is unlikely, as the statistic given allows for a handful more of them to have survived, but they will probably go deep into hiding after witnessing that genocide.

    If true, that means his plan to possess Magus was doomed to failure anyway, so if that's not it, Ellen becomes a lot cooler.

    my theory is that since ellen's existence is not entirely natural (note that magus reads her aura as being similar to the diamond), that certain things regarding the effects of magic don't work on her the same way as they did with sirleck's previous hosts

    I suspect magic is withholding the info from Tedd to keep her focused on dealing with the immediate issues and to give her some time to process everything. It seems like magic understands what is going on with Tedd, but I guess since Tedd has been expressing herself through magic so often, that magic would probably have a better read on her than other people.

     

    Of course, that's still ultimately for what could be considered selfish for magic.

    My concern is honestly more about whether or not his superiors would give him the authorization to do that. They are part of a law-enforcement agency, and as such their mandate may be specifically focused on protecting the people, but it might still take some effort for Arthur to convince Assistant Director Leifeld (or worse, Leifeld's superiors) on the change in SOP, especially after his assurances of letting some incidents go public would solve the division's problems for decades.

    the facts have been laid bare and they can't really do anything about it except adapt. it would be very easy to prove the circumstances have changed, and even if Arthur has to step down, they'll still have to figure something out, and they don't have the luxury of time.

    I think that he was mistakenly assuming that Tedd had just been making the watches by using the gauntlet to enchant things with copies of the TF gun's spells (but in Earth magic instead), instead of, y'know, reassembling the fabric of reality with his mind. Tedd also made the same mistake...and it sounded like the more reasonable assumption to the point where nobody would guess the latter if they had no idea of it existing.

    Also, "guilt's a waste of time" ... sounds too philosophical for him, did his mother told him that? Perhaps related to some guilt she feels but likes to pretend she doesn't?

    Also, Arthur offered work to Tedd. Took him much longer than I expected. Seriously, thousand seers is more that they expected, but it's still rare enough to employ any seer before someone else does. Not speaking about the fact that if he would be reading Edward's reports, he should've already realized Tedd's potential.

    Note: It's not just ticking clocks. If there are some issues in current magic system, DGB is already aware of them and can handle them. Unknown magic system would have flaws which would get longer to notice than just learning how to cast the spells.

    I think Edward hasn't caught on to what Tedd's full potential has really amounted to (or has outright chosen to ignore most of what goes on with his wacky kid in favor of just sending in bland summaries of those activities)...otherwise, he might have figured out that he was making wands. From that perspective, the reports would look like just some kid who couldn't use magic doing completely mundane things with existing magical devices/systems. Compared to all the ridiculous shit that Tedd's friends get up to, he would probably hardly register at all as a person of interest in the reports.

    I would expect that if magic use does get mainstream and widespread, that there would have to be the establishment of more public and large scalable means of magic enforcement, and the only ones who would be qualified on a technical level to manage that would be the seers, because they can directly observe all forms of magic and know how to regulate it thoroughly, perhaps working in conjunction with cooperative immortals who have pledged to an ironclad contract.

    Starburst alert in panel five, but I'm still taking a break from cheering for backgrounds in the story comics.

    If the sole three people chosen to discuss the matter haven't given their best input on a big decision, then magic is not doing its job, so it's just trying to get the business out of the way. Also, the subject of Pandora is also relevant to the situation.

    Grace's attraction is more based on the other person's mind rather than their body, so I would say that her sexuality isn't defined by human standards, but more from her other heritage. Even "sapiosexual" (a term that I don't entirely approve of) would go in an entirely different direction.

    I have an urge to turn the second panel into an Arthur meme.

    Anyway...

    A refresh, to me, would involve one of two options:

    1. A permanent relinquishing of power and unimportant memories to fuel regeneration of the self, while retaining a minor fraction of her power and the most relevant memories that would preserve the person she wants to be for her family, while discarding the chaotic self she once was. This untested process, however, might result in all sorts of wacky shenanigans, such as turning her mortal.

    2. Sealing away a majority of herself to allow for her mind to breathe until her worldly business has been settled, and she is ready to reset properly. This would be a temporary measure, and it also has its own risks if the seal does not work.
