I believe the sound effect for that spell is *enbooben*.
14 hours ago, Tuscahoma said:Is Pandora going somewhere with the spells she's asking Tedd to add to the wand? Or is just a lesson in stacking spells using spells he's likely to have seen? I only ask because I envisioned Pandora at the end telling Tedd that he was actually a Disney princess (after the appropriate spells were cast).
I imagine that she's letting Tedd figure out how to imprint other people's spells properly, instead of the old way, where he was pretending to reverse engineer the effects of the TG gun to enchant the watches, but was just accidentally imprinting the watches instead.
1 hour ago, ProfessorTomoe said:Guide and empower, right, right. She's definitely guiding. Is there (or will there be) an ulterior motive to her guidance, though? You mention the war flashbacks, where magic stopped working. Tedd is a Seer *and* a Wand Maker. He can overcome that problem quickly. Is that her aim, or is she really just being nice to him?
I think that in light of the most recent prior parts of this exchange, she seems a lot more reasonable than most, given her overall state of mind and basic desire to help, even if her mood is capricious.
Anyway, Pandora being like Tedd's surrogate mom here is goddamned adorable. -

12 hours ago, Illjwamh said:I have to wonder if the entire reason Dan has written this storyline in the first place is that he doesn't like the way he originally set up magic in the comic, but he's a responsible writer who wants to keep things internally consistent and so this is his way to avoid arbitrary changes to suit the types of plots he wants.
I get the impression that this is why the Hammerchlorians arc happened.
11 hours ago, Wanderer said:...Is Elliot forgetting how they got into this whole "magic resetting" mess in the first place???
I think his endgame is trying to confront magic and resolving the conflict once and for all, by forcing magic's hand. This neatly coincides with many of the other plotlines reaching their end.
I am, however, surprised that Elliot has grown to the extent that he is able to plan that far ahead. -

"Teenage hormones." Edward is right.
It's not 100% guaranteed, but I can confirm that it is entirely possible under the right circumstances.

My Good Shive,
Usage of both "trans" and "transgender" are accepted in this case. Use whatever you think is appropriate for the situation.

I think she's more focused on the other girl here than on herself right now.

Given the propensity for ridiculous wizard robes and European swords, I think it's safe to assume that there's some extremely vague European connection, given that the DW diamond was created to stop a werewolf curse, and that Pandora's husband was killed by one.

yaaaaay
that's all i got, i don't need narrative pacing to tell me what my heart already knows -
y'see, this is why i don't keep changing pronouns for tedd until i'm sure of what they've picked for themselves
but they've got plenty of time to grow up so i don't feel too disappointed in them shying away from the deeper parts of their psyche -
1. be safe precious mad science cinnamon roll
2. Is Tedd subconsciously giving themselves larger boobs out of anger? -
11 hours ago, Pharaoh RutinTutin said:Attention: The eighteen year old dangerous rarity kid at MNHS. You must now chose exactly what you want to be for the rest of your life. The window of opportunity for you to make this selection could close at any time without warning. Whichever option you choose has advantages and disadvantages. Will you regret the decision you make (or fail to make) tomorrow? Next week? Next year? In ten years? Twenty years?
It's ridiculous to demand that kind of decision from kids on any issue. But we do it on many issues already. For which job do you wish to apply? What kind of job training do you wish to take? Do you want to apply to college? To which schools will you send an application? What will be your major and minor? Are you considering military service? In which branch will you serve? Are you a compulsive liar?
they actually ask the first question of noncis children irl, with the added question of whether or not it is worth giving up reproductive capabilities for possibly the rest of their lives also
shit's all real and heavy yo -
i welcome the glorious return of the :T face

the form actualized by the spell is based primarily on his own thoughts and feelings, so he doesn't have to adhere to those preconceptions if he just lets go of them and focuses on himself
side note: "masculine and feminine traits" thank you -
6 hours ago, Don Edwards said:But the problem with being genderfluid is that you have to take many readings on that over time and either look for the extremes or average them (your choice).
Which would be easier if we had an accurate and reliable way of measuring someone's gender on the correct scale properly calibrated... we're currently weak on identifying the correct scale, calibrating it, and measuring people.
Of course it's never simple, but this is already more choice than people have IRL and Tedd still has the TG gun for day to day variances. I'm just talking about his overall comfort in his default FORM. He doesn't have to be technically correct by any contrived measurement, it's about how he feels. Seriously, how would you even measure human feelings by some quantifiable form? Tons of pseudoscientists have tried to judge folks like me using numbers and questionnaires but none of them have ever considered that the only people qualified to make those calls are, well, ourselves.
Seriously, is anybody in this discussion right now trans or genderfluid? He doesn't have to necessarily pick a gender, he's picking what his base body will be like without modifications, which may or may not happen to align closely with feminine/masculine forms. It doesn't even need to have a majority of characteristics specifically locked to the concept of the gender binary. Also, there isn't even a "scale" or anything, it's just a combination of preferences which are based on his needs, not anybody else's. It feels like I'm reading a discussion between a whole lot of cisgender guys speculating on how this works like people don't already face these kinds of decisions on a daily basis. -
I mean, if he's gender fluid, that just means that he should find a body he's most comfortable staying with (the least amount of body dysmorphia) and do what he wants the rest of the time. That's what a lot of folks I know ended up with. I don't think that it's going to be that easy to bully whatever choice he makes either...I guess it's down to having The Talk with Edward.

9 hours ago, ijuin said:Although it might be worth asking whether it is possible to separate an Aberration of Sirleck's type from its host and thus rescue the host, provided that the host isn't already virtually dead as Sirleck's current host is.
Anyway, I still believe that the "lacking empathy and remorse" part is a prerequisite to becoming an Aberration rather than an effect of it. It is not that becoming an Aberration removes one's empathy so much as it is that one must already be nearly devoid of empathy in order to choose to become something that can not survive without killing people at regular intervals.
I'm assuming that Sirleck's current host is already braindead, but because of Sirleck's method of manipulation, he can keep running bodily functions as long as they will last.

This comic passed through my life intermittently as I was growing up, and I like to think that it was one of the factors that allowed me to remember a part of myself that I didn't know that I had forgotten. I'm just glad that I'm actually transitioning instead of ending up waiting again, even though I don't know where my life will be later this year.

oh, so that's why the spell uses an excessive amount of energy
