      Welcome!   03/05/2016

Welcome, everyone, to the new 910CMX Community Forums. I'm still working on getting them running, so things may change.  If you're a 910 Comic creator and need your forum recreated, let me know and I'll get on it right away.  I'll do my best to make this new place as fun as the last one!

It's very common for comic artists--especially big-name ones--to have assistants do part of the artwork.

Fortunately, Mr. Shive is probably one of the "stable" ones that can remember which of his assistants are separate individuals and which are other facets of his personality....

Note: And we saw the range of spell ... except we still don't know how far it is. But it seems to cross the road almost straight, no visible curvature, so can't be so small.

That's with the expectation of a spherical or hemispherical area. While that does sound most likely, my next guess would be the area Sarah is wondering about, trimmed to the limit of her spell's power. She would likely wonder about things like entire rooms, buildings, or roads, so a flat "end-of-scan" might be how the spell goes down the road until it runs out of thaums. With that clue slightly blunted, Dan has done a masterful job of obfuscating the total area.

  3. If either one of them winds up still waiting for enchantments to wear off when they absolutely have to get back to their family or trigger a panicked search, they could end up being outed to one or more parents, in a community where information about magic is rarely shared between generations.

  4. If Mrs. Pompons is actually a blond, then the "other" woman could be her non-dying parallel-world counterpart, who is the mother of parallel-world Susan AKA Diane. Now, to me, cheating with a parallel-world counterpart is still cheating, but to someone who sees them as different parts of the same person...

  5. I have to take Nanase's position: You can't skip warning people about threats to their lives or their relative's lives just because the warning is traumatic, and Diane is nowhere near corrupt enough to decide her survival doesn't matter compared to antagonizing Susan.

I do agree that with 20-20 hindsight they should have gotten an intermediary and done less intrusive research, but until after the fact there was no way to know that wouldn't be even worse.

  6. On another tack, as we learn more about how Magic itself can be an active character, there could be way for Susan and Diane to be totally unrelated: Magic might insist that Potential Vampire Hunters be born in pairs (or more) because of horrifying attrition rates. There could be a lot of Susan look-alikes throughout the world (this generation).  In another generation, Van Helsing might have lasted as long as he did because there was always another one to take over for him...

Which she then updated to have one 18 years old, proving that she doesn't feel the need to look younger than 18.

That only means she wants to look 18 at least part of the time. It would be very rare to erase an old backup unless you were very short of space...

  8. Magic most likely uses options that Science doesn't know about. Instead of shrinking a complex life-form, put it elsewhere (perhaps in the space between the two halves of the world?) and go first-person with a fairy doll, which doesn't have to support life or intelligence for itself.  Dex's fairy can be created with only Dex's power level (probably made easier because it has neither persistence like Nanase's nor stored energy such as Susan's releases when prematurely dismissed), so Rhoda might have plenty of magic to sustain a "mini-Catalina" which can be compressed as easily as a foam-rubber doll.

That's why I think trying to get information from a computer, beyond what's displayed on the screen at the time of the spell cast, would be impossible because it'd be just like having a conversation with a person, the stuff they say would come from Sarah's imagination, so probably trying to use a computer would probably bring up stuff that her imagination comes up with, though I would expect that if Sarah say, brought up google, it would load google because she would know what the site looks like, but trying to use it to search for stuff wouldn't give accurate results.

There might be quite a few frequently accessed pages already in the local cache, and perhaps those could be brought up...

Operation Itty Bitty Kitty appears to be successful....now where to hide her? :)

I wonder if Dan will address the fact that it will be really hard to hear Catalina now - her voice should be pretty quiet with miniature lungs and voicebox.  Unless, you know, magic.

Tiny little frogs can be heard a quarter of a mile away, so there has to be some way to do it.

He's come a long way from "inability to draw perspective well" back at the beginning of EGS.

She doesn't need subatomic resolution. Without an electron microscope, details smaller than an optical microscope can resolve are meaningless beyond the bulk chemical composition of substances. If Sarah is limited to her own senses (i.e. no magnification at all, just what she can see with her eyes), then a resolution limit of dozens of microns (i.e. 100 times bigger than lightwaves, about the size of a dust speck) will be enough.

If this is the case, simulated magnifying glasses will turn out not to work, or we might be given some similar hint in following comics.

  12. Granted!

This simple, easily-installed program permanently shuts down the telepathic centers of the brain, preventing direct transmission of knowledge or skills. No longer will annoying songs or games spread uncontrollably through the population. Since none of the art of telepathy can be described visually or verbally, the world will almost immediately forget it ever existed, and there will be no one to teach it to future generations.

I wish people who developed busts they had no use for could donate them to people who felt a lack thereof.

Well, this raises questions I didn't know I had.

Does she gain the abilities of the person she's swapped with? Like, is she able to transform like Grace can? Would she gain Tedd's magic insight if she swapped with him?

A magic simulation might very well simulate magic (or the related Uryuom Power) abilities. Grace would probably be fine with Sarah learning what it feels like to have her own shape-shifting ability, but does Sarah know and remember those clone forms Grace promised not to use?

Did Catalina have a previous experience with otakus?

Her normal appearance suggests a carefully-understated Catgirl done with makeup only. This lot may have even seen her before and speculated about how much better she could do with added props...
