I did not read it that way, TBD for now.

I didn't read it that way at first, either, but a couple of things don't seem to add up, most notably that a shop facing the river would, presumably have a mundane entrance facing the river. She could be squatting, and unwilling or unable to use that door.

She is in effect doing that, since she already tried short. Varying one more variable, strength.

But she shrank as she cast the spell, and seems surprised be that. I don't believe that she expected that to happenijuin's idea that magic was making her taller until she channeled it into something else seems like a good one.

  3. Cassandra's pigeons are coming home to roost with Hope, the gifts she gave Justin and Luke may be liabilities. This is probably another reason most Immortals would rather reset entirely. No need to deal with past mistakes if they were committed  by a "dead" person.

Her reintroduction to Sarah should be fun.

The currency she uses is good enough to pass inspection by a kid working retail.  But still I wonder . . . .

Pandora could have left her a bank account and a cash machine card. The bills those dispense are usually pretty new.

She introduced some nonstandard elements into her regeneration by trying to keep extra memories, so she may be a bit scatterbrained, as Helena and Demetrius were initially. Remember, we first saw them more than a year after their improper reset, while Hope has had only three months to recover.

Is "scatterbrained" really the right word? I'd say she has to relearn how to live among ordinary humans. "Unschooled", perhaps?

  6. Heh, Hope learning how to fit in human society looks like it will be fun. It's interesting that she's even trying. Does she intend to reveal herself to those she remembers, or is she intending to just become their friends? Seems unsatisfying if the latter; I've been looking forward to the reunions.

Justin's being remarkably polite here; most clerks aren't so circumspect about checking for counterfeits.

  7. I'm slow today--Hope's list in the third panel is in her 'notes from a previous life' voice (yeah, okay, font). This is a memorized list, not one she's actually reading off the sheet she's holding. Whatever she's doing, it was set in motion by Pandora. Who probably was savvy enough to make sure her new self had some sort of cache of cash.

The show had images that showed 'orbiting' well beyond this; it seems likely for esthetic effect, 'We are clearly in space', but often mentions 'orbital decay' which is a significant phenomenon close in, not so much at great range. In the Gary Seven episode, the Enterprise is a large object visible in the sky. There does not seem to be more than a nod to how far away the Enterprise orbits from show to show.

I think a lot of the problems with "orbital" mechanics in Trek can be solved by noting that there's no particular reason for their ships to actually orbit--they can just hover over whatever part of a planet they find interesting. Say, the part with an away team on it. Would that require fantastic amounts of energy? Sure, but these guys get their power from matter-antimatter reactions.  'Orbital decay' seems to happen when something goes wrong with the engines. We would probably refer to the phenomenon as 'falling'.

Practical electric lights were only developed about 140 years ago. The typical Immortal Regeneration cycle is every “200 years and a bit”.

Sure, but Hope was regenerated at most a few weeks ago, comics time. That she thinks of electric lights as something exceptional indicates that at least some of her retained memories predate Edison. It seems unlikely that Zeus, for example, would think that way.

  10. Heh, I'd give her a break--she's new at this and still figuring it out. Your question from Monday is a good one. Paraphrasing, how will she want to play this? Does she intend to reintroduce herself as someone else, or will she let the people she cares for in on the secret? Her reaction on realizing that she let slip to Justin that she knew his name suggests that she intends to keep her past hidden for now. Fortunately for her,  Justin jumped to the wrong (and more reasonable) conclusion.

For some reason, when we saw Pandora's reset, I got the feeling that she found a way to remember more than she was normally supposed to.

She was pretty explicit that she was going to try to remember her family. From context, it seems that a normally an Immortal is fine with cutting the ties of their old life, wanting a clean slate when they reset. Zeus resents the vow that Jerry imposed on him, for example. Pandora, wanted to remember and continue those ties as Hope.

  12. Noriko and Van are overseas, so probably won't be covered. I don't know what gives someone a Royal aura. Speculating based on Edward and Nanase, it's sheer power, thus my guess that Tedd, Grace, and Rhoda might be "Royal." But I've long since learned that Dan and I don't think alike, it could be just a thing that runs in families.
