Comic for Friday, May 30, 2025

Hope's angsty regret. Luke's terrible suffering, being able to see magic auras.

Luke's suffering seems to me to be peculiar to his personality. He seems to be a worrier. Or is it that it allows him to see a world he cannot fully enter, and makes him feel inadequate because he can see that others have more power?

  2. Here. I see where this is going: Prince Elliot is getting CinderTedd, Sarah is getting Count Sam, and Ashley will be stuck with the Earl of Bad Tom.

Then the kingdom, after a period of wise governance,  will have a replay of the War of the Roses when King Elliot dies without issue.

I suspect it has more to do with his distrust of immortals in general.

Or of Pandora in particular, given her reputation for chaos.

Yeah, Friday's comic may be a complete reversal of the attitude Edward has had toward both Tedd and Hope. And a new outlook for Hope. So far, besides her family, Hope has had seen little good coming from Pandora. The revelation that she, inadvertently or not, has saved the Earth from invasions should be a bit of a morale boost.

Oh, and Tedd? Absolutely you should believe in the soothing, life giving, intelligence granting powers of Coffee. Which absolutely should be capitalized.

  4. Add in surprise and apprehension about a room suddenly appearing in his home where no room should be, his deduction about what that meant, and the sudden introduction to his household of a being of unknown power and uncertain motivations, I'd say Edward is doing pretty well for someone who hasn't had his coffee yet.

Has Lavender moved in yet? Where is she?

I'll grant a lot of the world's problems stem from British people trying to get tea.  But the same can be said for westerners in general about coffee. It's not like either of them grows in Europe or most of North America.

Problems, solutions, opportunities... The Renaissance, it has been argued, came about because people started substituting caffeinated beverages for beer. Having largely done this myself, I believe it.

If all of their contacts are documented in the comic, then, as far as I recall, no. Susan and Nanase in France, then lots of observation, some interactions in the magic realm with Magus, and then the mall. But didn't they reboot between France and the mall? I recall comics about them being confused.

I've long thought that they were involuntarily rebooted. Used to think it was by Pandora, but Voltaire seems like a good suspect, doesn't he?

Maybe he doesn't have much actual experience with immortals.

Very young immortals, maybe not. Any recent experience he's had directly may be with immortals who felt themselves competent to be dealing with a powerful wizard with hooked into the US government's magical enforcement apparatus. And they would only tell him what they wanted him to know.
