Shipping them? Nah, she underestimated him, then he immediately turned what sounds like a pretty weak attack into something that sounds devastating by a clever and unexpected play. There's the "mad scientist" vibe she was looking for.

That, and they know why. Many of them will, in their current incarnations, have family that would want to defend if necessary. So they both hate being controlled, even momentarily, and want more freedom of action in a situation like Pandora's. Some them were probably already chafing under the restrictions.

Definitely Pandora's priorities not Hope's. Did Pandora understand that Hope would be concerned as much with atoning for Pandora's mischief as her family (and Sarah) and set this barrier up to keep her focused on Pandora's priorities?

Looking more closely and comparing this to earlier strips, it seems that Rhoda has shrunk Cat but not her hair and vest. That makes sense (as much as anything involving magic does) because a smaller, lighter Cat will hit the ground with less force, and the clothes and hair will provide some padding. Quick thinking on Rhoda's part, if so.

Hmmm. I thought Pandora was responsible for the block, but this seems to go above and beyond.... Unless she set it up this way to force Hope to grow a backbone.

1. Diane is keeping her magic-and the fact that she's friends with the Main Eight form everyone on the date.
2 Lucy is keeping her hobby from everyone.
3. Rhoda and Cat are keeping their magic secret from Lucy and Diane.
4. Camdin is about to give up his secret, and maybe Luke's while he's at it.
Lots of secrets on this date. How many will come out before the last pin drops?

It would be interesting to see if Rhoda can easily dodge a direct question from Diane, her protector and mentor for so long.

Rhoda's obvious embarrassment is interesting. She's in the presence of friends, but she seems to be afraid of revealing too much. Magic, maybe? Is she worried simply about the fact that she hasn't shared this with Diane and Lucy yet?
