6 hours ago, Darth Fluffy said:Yes. On the Monday January 10 thread, Don Edwards posted this:
It does backpedal somewhat, but it is not an apology nor an admission of being wrong, and I wonder if it is mostly a reaction to the backlash.
I don't know JKR, but it seems like the people who know her were appalled; especially the young, now adult actors who worked in her setting for years.
Clearly Old Hack, who has a horse in this race, so to speak, is offended, and has done more research than I have. I'll defer to that.
Giving up Harry Potter isn't all that hard for me, as it never grabbed me like some long running series did (looking at you Honor Harrington). I'm not even sure I read the last few books and I know I stop watching the movies after the 3rd or so.

45 minutes ago, The Old Hack said:Elliot isn't an idiot. He must feel a bit like a street level superhero headed for a diplomatic meeting with temperamental representatives of the New Gods. Like, Orion and Big Barda.
If I had any idea who the New Gods were I might agree with you. Given their name I can assume that they are beings of massive amount of power, but I could be wrong. :-)

5 hours ago, Darth Fluffy said:Did you see Starship Geomorphs is a free PDF?
I've got a copy of it, I didn't know it was also on the FFE site. It's pretty cool.
5 hours ago, Darth Fluffy said:FFE seems to have all editions, which must have been an effort to get the rights.
No, the licenses expired for the other versions (everybody but Mongoose Publishing, which has released 2 versions) and FFE hold the rights to Traveller, so when the licnses expired they got the rights to the older products. At least that is what I think they did. Marc got the rights to Traveller when GDW went out of business.

I don't think it's all that complex of a spell, but I could be wrong.
I do like how Elliot is all "yeah, anybody else we could bring along?" He's seen, firsthand what a griffon can do both with magically and physically, and is properly impressed and a bit frightened by it. -
"If you want to make the bed in the morning, you really should do it when you first wake up while I'm eating and doing my morning dashes. Wait to late and I'm sleeping on it. Well, I would be sleeping if you didn't bother me with the flashy thing." - Explorer the Cat

The version I got is this. Right now it's on sale for $12 for a printed version.

You heard of a mood ring? Mood glasses might be a thing with a little magic.

48 minutes ago, ChronosCat said:I wonder if Grace has given up on describing what she's saying before saying it, or if she just forgot/isn't bothering in this strip.
She needs to concentrate on "walking" so she isn't thinking about what she needs to say before she speaks. Either that or she does't think she needs to do it to Ellen.

Was there any question about this?

TP is a thing you really don't want to run out of.

I've been reading
1) The new facsimile printing of the original 3 Traveller books (dead trees)
2) Tractics, a 2nd edition of a 70's war game (dead trees)
3) Datasheets of various items of military hardware. (PDF files)
4) To End in Fire the latest Honorverse book. (eBook) -

Yeah, I forgot that magical doorways are a thing. I suspect, even if they need a known point to end them in, their is a network of portals to every field office.

But did you get the important things about a snow fall? Milk, white bread and toilet paper?

3 minutes ago, Amiable Dorsai said:At a guess, Arthur doesn't need to fly commercial when he's on official business.
I suspect he does. The FBI doesn't have their own jets, so they fly commercial. Even branches of the government that do have their own planes tend to use commercial air rather than put hours on their birds if they can avoid it.

I thought it was a girl from North High School in Nishinomiya, Japan, who wants to meet aliens, time travelers, and espers?
Why not both? A shared dream maybe.

10 minutes ago, Darth Fluffy said:You probably wouldn't want polka as the background in your dentist's office.
You can take that as a safe bet. But better polka than speed metal

And how often does the Manatee river valley get snow? Do they even have a sanding truck?

As cracked theories about reality goes, that's pretty cracked. Now that it has been pointed out to me, I see it as The Truth.

2 hours ago, Darth Fluffy said:Wait, that was a flashback? Never mind.
It had rounded corners which normally means either a flash back or a dream/private thought sequence.

If you like Twilight:2000 and were not impressed there is a 4th edition of it out now. Unlike 3rd edition it's set in Poland (or Sweden) like 1st and 2nd edition were. (The less said about 3rd edition the better)
