  1. In theory any thing can be blessed.  I know that fertilizer (i.e crap in a bag)  can be blessed, I've been part of the service that did it.  Granted we were blessing the whole of the garden supplies, not just the crap in a bag.  Church vegetable garden, for giving to a local food bank.  Did it several years in a row.

However I don't think that is what most people are thinking about when they say that.

I still think Grace will be key to getting Tedd and Edward talking about it. She doesn't like the idea of hiding things from friends or family, knowing Tedd wants to keep his mark from his dad will bug her. Even if she doesn't know exactly why, she'll sense there's a rift forming between them and want to fix it. We've see her do it with Ellen and Sarah (there might not have been an actual rift there but she felt there was something wrong with them not hanging out with each other) and we've seen her reaction to the idea of relationships not lasting with Elliot and Sarah's breakup. She doesn't like negative mojo and the issue between Tedd and Edward would be the worst kind.

That makes a whole lot of sense, and hopefully will be the case down the road.  However given comic time we aren't likely to see it for a couple of years real time.

Nice to have a compiled list for future use.

Yes, I'm very much happy with that.

If anything I'd think the Detective Block and even Writer's Block III: Write less harder, are television series/movies in the EGS universe.

    I support this idea.

Whatever your political viewpoint, do not spray paint you support for a candidate on your garage door like one of the people in my neighborhood; it's tacky as hell.

Yeah, tacky.  Of course that describes at least one of the leading candidates, so it might be appropriate

Also do not spray paint your support for a candidate on things that don't belong to you. (As happened twice to a sign advertising the RV park we're in.)

I think the word you are looking for here is not "tacky" but "Illegal".  And depending on where your polling stations are, illegal for more than one reason, and the political reason is much more likely to result in some sort of action than the vandalism reason.

  5. Hulks and Horrors (SciFi) and it's sister RPG Arcana Rising (Urban Fantasy).

I think I've found my non Traveller part of project[redacted], at least for the 1st version.  I suspect that the 2nd version (not edition) will be based on D&D 5.  I may commit heresy and use the H&H ship design rules as the base, but the space ship combat rules are of the suck and will require a full Looney built version.  None of the non Traveller games has land based vehicle rules, and the Traveller ones are also of the suck, so that's getting a full Looney build as well.

    Gentlemen,

I appreciate that there are at times situations where the Internet's lack of tone and gesture may escalate an innocuously-intended if perhaps abrasive-appearing remark into an argument. However, it is also possible to respond to such an event with a more restrained 'dude, that seems a little abrasive' rather than taking the originating party to task for his statements. Therefore, I request of the both of you to please drop this matter or alternately take it to private messages.

    Respectfully,

  7. d20 Modern is based on the D&D 3.5 rule set.  This means that melee combat is well over what should be it's level in importance.  A good 75 to 80 percent of the advanced classes for star fairing races are melee combat monsters.  Most of them, despite being, supposedly the best warriors of their race can be taken down by 1st level normal human with 30 ought six hunting rifle from 1930.  Bolt action even.  Given the katana (of course aliens from another Galaxy use katanas) swinging alien's speed, grandpa and his trusted deer rifle is going to get 5 to 8 shots before the slice and dice dudes get close. This is normally fatal to two to four of them.

Combat post 1800 or so, maybe earlier is decided by guns.  Hell if you go back to the Hundred Years War and the English Civil War, if you substitute longbow for guns it goes back to the late middle ages.  Why this bothers me isn't one of those things that I have no idea why, I know why, it's because I don't deal well with game designers that no sense of history and think that Games Workshop is a legitimate source for research.

This rant brought to you by Chris Fields and Bryan Steele.

That was one reason I fell in love with EGS, yes. Admittedly, for a truly serious treatment of this, I can only highly recommend Lois McMaster Bujold's Mirror Dance, which deals extensively with the legal rights of clones. In fact, I recommend the whole Vorkosigan series.

    Oh yes, Ever so much.

She's been training with Ellen as of just before Christmas. And her major hurdle at the moment seems to be in getting mobile while having her shields up. Once she is able to do that I imagine she'll be a more versatile tank. And yes I am considering Grace a tank, she's got high strength and defense. Nanase, Ellen and Elliot have agility with their martial arts training so they can flank and jump in and out of range quickly, Justin might be an off-tank given his strength aura, he might get some defensive spells later on. Susan and Tedd would be support with possible ranged. Sarah....sadly being the least developed for combat and magic in general (Tedd's at least thought of ways to defend himself and others) doesn't have much to offer yet.

Recon and battle field intelligence is life. There is a reason why there are recon units at all levels down to battalion in most armies. Some have them as low as company, and depending on how you look at designated marksman, even some squads have a recon element. Sarah is a freaking great tactical recon element. The next best is Susan, assuming she can get to where she can see via her flock of fey, followed by Nanase. Susan over Nanase due to the number of "UAV" that each can launch. It's canon that both girls fairies are, to one degree or another armed.

Doing that is very different than doing this:

In one you're commenting on something else. In the other you're saying "I don't understand this and I don't want to."

And exactly what is wrong with that?  People tell me that all the time when I start to geek out or go into massive details about how some software works.

  11. 2 hours ago, Scotty said:

I think Grace is on to something there.

As for the commentary, there were many instances in cartoons where a bull seeing red got angry, Overwatch is a cartoony game so it's perfectly logical. :)

Of course the Mythbusters proved that as busted.  Of course that test lead to one of Tories great lines

"I'm starting to think that this isn't a good idea"

What, do you need to be under 28 to enjoy video games or to want to help someone understand what the joke in the comic is based around them when someone expresses their lack of knowledge in it? ~rolls eyes~

Under 28 is a mind set not an age.

Look! Is that a shiny round thing?

The "everything/nothing" part is probably wrong though.  Donaldson is one of those writers whose reputation - good or bad - is almost always drawn entirely from one of his works (in his case the Chronicles of Thomas Covenant).  Some of this other stuff is so different that it's hard to see how anyone could have the same opinions of both.  I personally really disliked most of the Covenant books, but some of his other work was pretty enjoyable, and I'd actually recommend his short story collections - Daughter of Regals and Other Tales, and Reave the Just and Other Tales.

To be honest my reading of him is limited to Chronicles, which put him in my "don't read any more" list.

    Suggestions? Okay ...

Piers Anthony's Incarnations of Immortality series
Stephen R. Donaldson - nothing he's ever written in his life.
Jack L. Chalker - the Well of Souls and Soul Rider series

Start with those, then check back for more.

There, I fixed it for you.

  15. Nope, they just spend too much time on video games, of which I have limited interest in.  I understand that YMMV on this, and obviously, based on the number of VG related posts in the reaction threads that a large number of y'all are interested in them.  Plus often the art is cute even if I don't know what the subject matter is.  As long as he avoids the two gamers on a couch syndrome all is cool.

Oh, and for the record, if I say in a reaction to a NP comic that I don't know what this, assume there is an ",and I don't care" following it, unless I say otherwise in the comment. I don't need all the under 28 set telling me the details, particularly if you do it via other VG.

Well, given that appearing somewhere naked would make it a lot harder to be inconspicuous, it seems fair to assume that clothing can come along with when teleporting.

Teleporting in the table top RPG traveller is a psionic ability. Teleporting with clothing is some what more expensive in terms of psionic points for than teleporting nude.  Teleporting with gear is a lot more expensive than naked. Teleporting with some one else is massively more expensive, to the point that 80% of psionic people need to take psi drugs to do so.

Traveller teleporting also makes you obey the laws of conservation of energy, in that gaining or losing altitude is dangerous do to the increase or decrease in body temperature.  More than 400 meters either way with out special clothing that heats or cools you is normally fatal.

It also illegal in the 3rd Imperium, the major political power in known space, because it's a psionic power, in that psionics in general are illegal.
