The "everything/nothing" part is probably wrong though.  Donaldson is one of those writers whose reputation - good or bad - is almost always drawn entirely from one of his works (in his case the Chronicles of Thomas Covenant).  Some of this other stuff is so different that it's hard to see how anyone could have the same opinions of both.  I personally really disliked most of the Covenant books, but some of his other work was pretty enjoyable, and I'd actually recommend his short story collections - Daughter of Regals and Other Tales, and Reave the Just and Other Tales.

To be honest my reading of him is limited to Chronicles, which put him in my "don't read any more" list.

    Suggestions? Okay ...

Piers Anthony's Incarnations of Immortality series
Stephen R. Donaldson - nothing he's ever written in his life.
Jack L. Chalker - the Well of Souls and Soul Rider series

Start with those, then check back for more.

There, I fixed it for you.

  3. Nope, they just spend too much time on video games, of which I have limited interest in.  I understand that YMMV on this, and obviously, based on the number of VG related posts in the reaction threads that a large number of y'all are interested in them.  Plus often the art is cute even if I don't know what the subject matter is.  As long as he avoids the two gamers on a couch syndrome all is cool.

Oh, and for the record, if I say in a reaction to a NP comic that I don't know what this, assume there is an ",and I don't care" following it, unless I say otherwise in the comment. I don't need all the under 28 set telling me the details, particularly if you do it via other VG.

Well, given that appearing somewhere naked would make it a lot harder to be inconspicuous, it seems fair to assume that clothing can come along with when teleporting.

Teleporting in the table top RPG traveller is a psionic ability. Teleporting with clothing is some what more expensive in terms of psionic points for than teleporting nude.  Teleporting with gear is a lot more expensive than naked. Teleporting with some one else is massively more expensive, to the point that 80% of psionic people need to take psi drugs to do so.

Traveller teleporting also makes you obey the laws of conservation of energy, in that gaining or losing altitude is dangerous do to the increase or decrease in body temperature.  More than 400 meters either way with out special clothing that heats or cools you is normally fatal.

It also illegal in the 3rd Imperium, the major political power in known space, because it's a psionic power, in that psionics in general are illegal.

  5. When ever I take one of those what have you read test for fantasy and SF* if it's pre 2000 and notable I normally have read it.  And a lot of post 2000, just not as likely.

For non fantasy/SF I tend to score in the middle of the pack, and the more non Anglosphere writers you include in the list the more likely I am to score low.

    I read a lot.

*And yes I am one of those people that think there is a difference between SciFi and SF.

You mean it used to be west of you.

Unless the media has been infiltrated by cultists of one or more of the elder Gods, which is possible, it still is. At least no reports of it moving.  Also I have friends that live in Sand Springs.  Kelsey would have said something on Facebook. Not do sure about her husband, however.

Though considering Susan likes to watch, she'd more likely be upset at missing out on a show. Actually I'm not entirely sure that sounds right, I mean yeah Susan was aroused by seeing Catalina kissing Elliot, but would that be enough to say that Susan would be interested in watching Elliot have sex too? On that note, is this slope getting too slippery?

Ashley + Elliot + Susan as a passive partner is my #2 OTT.  (Number 1 being, of course Tedd+Grace+Sarah). I see no reason, if that is the case, that she wouldn't want to be a passive partner in a one off with Nanase.

Oddly enough, if Susan were Elliot's current girlfriend, I can picture her getting jealous.  She'd figure out that it was irrational and try to keep it in check, but she's not very experienced, relationship-wise, and was raised to be suspicious of men and think the worst of them.  Her hackles going up at the possibility of Elliot being unfaithful would be in character, as long as she gets to be smart enough to figure out what's going on and that she shouldn't let that feeling drive her actions.

I'm not seeing that in Susan.  She knows about the TF gun and the fact that it can change your biological sex.

Give Dan some credit, we saw Grace turn 18 a little over 3 years after the comic started. So that would make it somewhere in 2019 that she'll turn 19. :)

OK, we are fairly sure the next arc is going to be Sisters 3. Unless they are a part of it, we still have Sarah and Sam's "date" and Justin and Luke's date to deal with.  That, based on "So a date in the mall" is going to take a couple of hundred strips each.  So three arcs, let's call it 500 strips at 3 a week is roughly 3 years and 2 months.  That will take care of the next 10 days or so of comic time.  It will be, at most, early February comic time by 2019.  I suspect at least one of the dates is going to be NP canon story line to avoid some of that, but still.

I still don't get the 'Invading france' thing...

On the old forum Durning the fall and winter I was checking the weather in Broken Arrow, Chicago and Copenhagen.  After a while I added Paris.  Turns out last fall it normally had better weather than the 3 other places.  I kept telling old hack to embrace his Viking heritage and invade France for the weather.  Became sort of a running joke.

Honestly, if a lesbian couple gets a kid, "who is the father" is already an awkward, "non of your busines"-type question. Who gives a shit if people just conclude that it may be Tedd after comparing looks? :P Are we worried that people will think Tedd had a thing with Ellen?

Given that Ellen has said she thinks Tedd is sexy, that might be an issue.

  13. 5 hours ago, Scotty said:

Considering how Tedd and Nanase look so much alike , there isn't really anything that stands out for Tedd that says "I'm Edward's son", it's possible that Noriko and Mama Kitsune's family line has some pretty strong genetics which is probably how their magic is passed down from generation to generation so Noriko's genes could likely be more dominant than Edwards at least in terms of appearance, Edward's genetics and Noriko's in terms of magic potential are likely a different story.

So as far as an answer to the question of looks? "That's apparently just how it is with my family"

The issue would be if Ellen was the birth mother and Manase was the father.  Looking like Nanase family would indicate IVF with Tedd as the source.

With Nanase as the birth mother and Male!Ellen as the father it would indicate IVF with Elliot as the source.

  14. I have found that putting about a tablespoon either raspberry jam or grape jelly per 2 packets of instant oatmeal improves the oatmeal by a significant amount.

    Just had a large bowlful.

If I may repeat myself whoever decides portion sizes has an eating disorder.

  15. 8 hours ago, malloyd said:

Why?  How often have you looked at a kid, thought (s)he had the wrong genetic looks, and asked about it?  It's not something that comes up a lot and "None of your business" (or "How dare you") makes a perfectly socially acceptable answer for anyone who isn't so close you could trust them with the truth.

Well, given that Ellen is white and Nanase is Japanese, it would be more obvious than normal.  I believe the in universe canon thing would be "Awkward question?"

In this case "it allows us to post more often than it does not" is the minimum standard i'm using for functional.

That would be one value of functional.  Not sure I would say it is the one I would wasn't, but it's a value.
