  1. Story Friday April 3rd 2020

Would they have known that? They could probably come close to surmising the events. You're right about government agencies, to a degree, the evidence is not difficult to find, but at the root, within some context, the individuals want to be seen in the best light, and will behave to some set of standards or dogma. Accountability helps, and DGB is likely lacking in accountability, just like real world black programs. The laws about paranormal activity would be hidden as well, so he's not really worse off than the average Joe of the EGS universe. But again, lack of accountability. Fleeing the scene could be a crime; would seem to be incumbent on DGB to show that he was actually fleeing. Not hanging around when trouble comes does not seem like a crime in and of itself. Not knowing the law is no excuse. Again: it doesn't need to be logical. It can be catch-22. There are three totally separate and independent questions. First is if DGB would be legally allowed to prosecute Magus. Second is if DGB - or Arthur - would decide to prosecute Magus. Third is what Magus think about answer to first two questions. And no argumentation about question 1 and 2 is going to answer question 3, because Magus had no opportunity to observe how DGB actually operates. Yes. Magus has much more magic knowledge and experience. Probably knows how to possess someone as well. My original take on this was that Arthur was just that bureaucratic, but he was not so when debriefing Elliot, Ellen, and Ashley. I'm inclined to view this as 'hidden agenda'. To be fair, it IS possible he was more bureaucratic when younger (it presumably happened more than 15 years ago). However, I still consider 'hidden agenda' more likely. It totally happens. There are places in Europe (and middle east) which changed hand lot of times and were part of no less than four completely different countries. However, I don't think Adrian's place of birth is in or near Russia. Sufficiently to escape the scene, yes. Sufficient to fly all the way to say, the East Coast more easily than simply getting a rail ticket, maybe not. Getting a rail ticket may not be so simple if you lack cash. So, it's possible his only option was to fly at least to the place where he could recover (part of) Sirleck's money.
  2. Story Monday April 6 2020

He doesn't even need to. Susan is good enough to get all information from him just by asking questions and observe if he got more or less nervous. And Elliot being Elliot, this causes a blue screen in his brain, which Susan has noticed. His blue screen is so obvious even less observant people than Susan would notice. I strongly suspect that by time this party is done all of the puzzle pieces will fall into place. Which may or may not get into things about Adrian that might be personal in nature. Probably. Susan's attempt to not talk about it on party was brave but doomed to failure. About the only thing that would keep it from being right away is if Elliot insists that all Susan needs to know is that she doesn't need to worry about losing her fairies anymore and that she's still under no obligation to talk about stuff, and Susan being ok with it. Or something along those lines that basically prolongs when they'll actually talk about stuff. Technically, yes, but I don't think Elliot is THAT good. IMHO the best he can do is to blurt something like "yes but you didn't wanted to talk about it". Well, that or switching to some form which is actually capable of keeping secrets. Not sure what that would be. DBG has said that magic exists. Basically everything about immortals. The DGB probably thinks the most dangerous part would be that immortals can mark people and get them start to use magic, however that's just because they likely don't know that all magic users are blood relatives of fairies. ... Edward would be very surprised when he reviews the recordings of this party. Or when he reviews recordings of the night Pandora visited. Perhaps not entirely appropriate but I don't think Susan and Diane would wait for his permission to tell they are related.

She also has enough control over them to keep them out of the camera frame. True ; However she doesn't have enough control to ensure they wouldn't be distracting Elliot. Actually, abducting Ashley, Elliot and Ellen. Technically, the whole plan was HIS, not Sirlecks's, so they might blame him for that and ignore that he planed it in way which ended up with killing all aberrations involved. Remember that government agency doesn't need to behave logically. He has no knowledge of actual laws about paranormal, so has no idea if he broke any. And, again: he decided to escape instead of trying to explain everything to DGB. That, by itself, suggest that he is not willing to risk being captured. We did get very short version of the story but with enough details: Adrian entered country using falsified information - specifically, he lied about his age. This sounds like Arthur trying to deport him for technicality, either due to being THAT inflexible, or because the true reason he wanted him out was not legal. Considering Arthur IS currently in US and the "tried", I suppose that it didn't actually happened - maybe Adrian appealed to someone higher or something. I dunno - between the two of them, and maybe with some help from their friends, they could do some really great special effects... That would be quite a good way how to get hired as CGI experts. "Able to fly" is not necessarily the same as "Able to use flight as a means of traveling hundreds of miles out in the open". Range and speed limitations aside, he would need some form of invisibility to remain unnoticed. Yet that is exactly how he got away from the PTTAOLUTASF. Maybe he has invisibility, or knows how to use terrain to limit risk of being spotted. All magic users can use their own power to cast their spells and removing the clog would make it harder. Sarah specifically has so weak talent for so hard spells, Pandora herself was not sure if she gets enough own power to cast her spell without help of ambient magic before or after being awakened, but USUALLY it's before. I believe Pandora implied if not outright stated that Sarah was not likely to grow strong enough to use her spell without high ambient magic before the clog was scheduled to be undone. So I'd say if the clog were undone now Sarah almost certainly would loose access to it. However, Pandora vowed to help Sarah get access to magic, and Immortal Vows continue through reset, so Sarah's loss of magic would only be temporary (assuming there's some other way Sarah could get magic, and Pandora clearly believed that or she wouldn't have made the vow). I believe she directly stated that, but, as I said, the original schedule is already out. It's not about "getting magic", it's likely something about ways to train magic when not being able to cast only spell you know. Which is certainly possible, as Elliot was training magic long before getting first spell. Pandora can likely make it faster or at least more fun.

Tried again and to my surprise the ads were there now. Either they are somehow counting number of accesses ... or their ads sometimes loads so slow I already scrolled them out of view when they loaded.
  5. Sketchbook April 6 2020

Maybe it does. I don't think they ever stayed out of prison for long. Star Wars is Disney too and I didn't noticed any crossovers yet ... they didn't even added Leia Organa to list of princesses yet.
  6. Sketchbook April 6 2020

Within my take on Dan's magic paradigm, that seems weird, but not impossible. Tea should be affecting the imbiber more directly, not just adjusting accoutrements, and a rather specific one; why not the panties as well? How smart is the frickin' tea that it can distinguish that? Wouldn't turning pants to leggings be even MORE specific?
  7. Story Friday April 3rd 2020

Also, he can fly. If he actually knew how the DGB works he would ask Edward to help. No, he is NOT aware that they don't have much on him, and he does not want to risk confrontation. Also, that thing about making a young woman cry was mentioned in context that he is also victim ; I would say that if they would want to prosecute they would found reasons. In fact, what reasons do you think Arthur had for deporting Adrian to Russia? I totally agree that so far he didn't shown to be lazy, which is why I think he IS in different state and won't return to Ellen until he would have little better plan than he has now.
  8. Sketchbook April 6 2020

What gigantism? I just though the pants shrunk.
  9. Story Friday April 3rd 2020

I meant that they would be together and he would see her fairies before or after they did the recordings, much like he did the transformation before they did their first recording. Except fairies are hard to unsummon and she might have reason to not summon fairy without safe way to get it home.
  10. NP Thur March 19 2020

... that would necessary be hard to recall, as it definitely wasn't recently.
  11. Sketchbook April 6 2020

Looking at picture, I though they are simply pants which got too small to stay on original place. But ok, let's assume leggings. That depends on how her clothes looked originally. Hopefully it's that ...
  12. Story Friday April 3rd 2020

She should at least be in a different part of town or from a pizza shop other than the one they normally order from as we haven't seen her before. But Magus does not seem to need distance, his is a powerful magic user and has masked the room he's in where the doorway does not exist unless he wants it. He might well still be local, especially if he feels he still owes apologies and favors. If Magus relies only on his magic and doesn't add some distance from city with greatest concentration of problems in whole U.S. he is, as I already said, lazy. It's not like he would have problems to return quickly. "Playing With Dolls" happened three weeks ago, so Elliot might not know yet that Susan has faeries other than Little Na'se. Or that, yes. If they are doing their review videos like weekly they would have been together a couple of times in that time frame. Granted a lot has been happening in Elliot life so they might have not had time for any reviews. But assuming they had, he would have seen at least one that didn't look like Nananse but looked like Susan. Not only lot is happening recently, I also wouldn't be sure the recorded reviews are good opportunity for Susan to show Elliot her fairies.
  13. Story Friday April 3rd 2020

Not that I've noticed. But I don't read all of his tweets, so it's possible. In any case, him using existing characters when it IS possible did happened in past. (See also commentary.) But I agree that in case of the pizza girl it would be suspicious.
  14. NP Sat April 4 2020

Because the criteria changed. "I already asked narrator that" is actually VERY good answer to give this person.
  15. NP Thur 2 April 2020

Nah, it's still NP I meant with in the context of this NP story line. That's possible. However, it certainly doesn't seem to be main plot of the game. (Well ... ok, that's cheating, it's only certain because I already read next strip ...)
  16. Story Friday April 3rd 2020

I suspect that Elliot could push Susan more than a random person could. But I also think Elliot is the person least likely to do so. ... deliberately. Hmmmm ... true, but didn't he complained about it somewhere claiming he tries to change that?
  17. Story Friday April 3rd 2020

The way she hesitates and then trails trails off when she says "I'd...miss my fairies..." could be taken as "I'm getting into territory in which she'll be talking about her feelings, and Sarah mentioned that she was having a hard time dealing with feelings, so maybe I should back off?" Hmmmm ... I still think the reaction is too strong to be that, but we will see next comix. Hopefully. PS: Totally agree with Tedd. I don't think Diane needs to fear there will be any critical analysis going on, at least if the one opening the door will be actually man. Also, seems that Diane is really enjoying it. Of course, we may still somehow get this girl instead, despite the fact that she SHOULD be at least in different state unless Magus is really lazy.
  18. Story Friday April 3rd 2020

Elliot knows there's something that happened to Susan that she hasn't been willing to talk about yet, her tone could be enough to give Elliot a reason to think the conversation is getting to close to. Hmmm, tone, ... that would obviously be hard to say from visual medium.
  19. NP Sat April 4 2020

Yeah. He's fourth-wall aware ... well, not OUR fourth-wall, but has knowledge of EGS outside the game. Also, good question: it was usually Grace doing the games, AND she would fit the "Hero of Hearth" much better. But, as Dan directly said in commentary of first script of this arc, having Susan there will be funnier. Or was funnier? Or both? Seems that out-of-game abilities of this character don't include reading the commentary.
  20. NP Thur 2 April 2020

Yeah this is another strong clue towards this character being Noah. Oh, so THAT what the "glory pig" was supposed to be. Might still not be a bad guy, maybe they are the Hero of Magic or Skill (ranged), but maybe they're jealous that Susan's basically been given the title of "Main Hero" or whatever. Even Susan complained earlier that hammers were her thing when she was told that she would recruit a hammer wielding hero, this character could be of the type that believes they should be greater than the role they were given. I guess that kind of thinking could lead to villainous behaviour, but from a storytelling perspective, the idea of a character with an attitude that softens over time isn't a new even in EGS. I wouldn't be that much surprised if it not only lead to villainous behaviour, but that he would somehow be convinced to switch sides back to good just because Susan would defeat him. Surprisingly, Susan seem to be LESS likely to attack him because he asked. Well, yeah, it's main plot now... Or it better be, or I shall be most cross. Nah, it's still NP Grace pretty much lost the "totally naive" thing over the June-December timeskip. Well it was relatively long time, she is likely to have some progress during it.
  21. NP Sat March 21 2020

Websites are detecting ads being blocked and popping up warnings, some block contents. Does your ad blocker spoof past that? I think it should be fairly easy to do so, to make it seem from across the Web that you are rendering ads that you are discarding. I don't know, I didn't wrote it, I'm just using it. But, I can confirm that I'm not getting warnings about blocking ads on tvtropes, nor any ads. Although according to list of blockable elements, only thing it's blocking is facebook and twitter. So, like, where exactly do you see ads on tvtropes?
  22. NP Thur March 19 2020

Uh, ANY other non x86 of the era? The Amiga? The Mac? To be more specific, those alternatives were so big disaster most people don't know they exists. Ok, they also were mostly into professional/server market, not for personal PCs. iAPX432. 80960. 80860. XScale. IA-64 alias Itanium alias Merced.
  23. Story Friday April 3rd 2020

I'm not sure about that. It's not really clear that her "not thinking about it" implies that she didn't know it had changed. I can see it going both ways. Well, as a source of Elliot's surprise it makes more sense than the "agender" term. However, I have another idea: does Elliot even know that Susan can summon fairies? Seriously, recapping is totally necessary and we should have more of it because there is LOT of stuff which might've been missed in "synchronization" of info between main eight. I don't think so, because unlike in Sarah's case, Elliot is not aware WHY would that be related. It's interesting that despite being next to the reason WHY magic changed, Susan may not know that it happened. Assuming she's not looking at her book again, because she would be unlikely to not notice something changed with them Not really. Susan has magic for long time and the fairies don't look as that hard spell. I think that from main eight, Sarah is only one who might be in problems. Outside from main eight, maybe Ashley? She's wizard, but has extremely low talent, she may get into problems without ambient magic. When the focus was on her, she was practicing like crazy. That should help her mitigate the loss of ambient power. I assume at some point Pandora's reboot will show up to continue training her; will likely provide some sort of artificial boost, if need be. If you reread the instruction Pandora gave her, she was actually practicing so much she was over the point of optimal training. The training is only happening when she's using her own magic. When she uses mostly ambient magic because her own didn't replenished yet, it's not effective. I think she may be still risking losing access to her spell if the clog would be unclogged now ... but, well, it wouldn't. Noone is currently working on that and it can take weeks before someone will, giving her more time for training.

If so, that was the cheapest college text book I ever bought, and I wasn't even enrolled in the class The price might be the reason they choose it Because actually playing it is too much work, possibly. However, I may not be the right person to determine that. After all, I read a Amber Diceless RPG rules without ever assuming I might be playing that with anyone.
  25. Story Wed 1 April 2020

I was so surprised the one class reunion that I managed to get to how much I enjoyed the people. They basically grew up, and were nothing like I remembered. Well, a few were, but still. They probably got better after finishing the school, yes. To be fair, they are overworked and stressed and it would really be better if they wouldn't need to if they are supposed to get people through the cash register as quickly as possible. But, like, they should be able to do that when NOT working.
