I assumed that those are fully the animal not human animal hybrids, but knowing Tedd, it could go either way.

Knowing that Tedd has or had an extensive collection of catgirl pinups and raunchy magazines, I go with "humanoid". Also, isn't it about time EGS had a mermaid?

  2. It reminds me of The Last Supper because the party is split up in distinct groups. I think Dan put a lot of thought into this panel.

    • Susan is sitting alone, further back than everyone, and looking away from everyone.
    • Elliot and Tedd are sitting on one of the beanbags
    • Ellen and Nanase are on the other beanbag.
    • Five people are sitting on the couch, but only Grace and Ashley are touching.
    • Justin and Sarah are looking to their left, either at Grace and Ashley or at Elliot and Tedd sitting together.
    • Sarah is looking to her right, maybe at Ashley and Grace, or maybe looking away from Elliot with Tedd. Sarah also might have noticed how Ellen and Ashley are acting, but Sarah doesn't really know them that well. Or maybe Sarah is thinking about how Susan is sitting all alone and far from Sarah.

Besides, hasn't anyone told Diane about War Criminal (Klaus) Barbie?

The Barbie doll was actually inspired by the Bild Lilli doll, merch for a cartoon hooker. That would kind of fit Diane's old reputation.

And if you check out Dan's tumblr for this comic, he gave it the title "The Ultimate Strategy" which would kind of fit Grace making her boobs even bigger to distract Diane in the final panel.

  4. Well, I have one other MLP reference some of you might know about: In I Dream of a , there was one comic where Jean the genie was trying to seduce her master, and she transformed into a human Twilight Sparkle.

BTW, Grace appeared in another Jeanie Bottle comic.

But Jay can't tell anyone who doesn't already know that magic is real.  Is that other group really capable of anything problematic?

We don't really know who Jay knows besides that nameless student she was with when Diane made her big speech at MSHS. She might have connections, or she might be just observant and good at research. I can see her as someone who checks out Charlotte's sites.

I'm guessing now her plan is to concentrate on getting close to Grace and Diane at MSHS. Now that we know Grace is rather attracted to Jay, maybe Jay could propose a double date with their boyfriends. If Jay didn't already know Tedd was Grace's boyfriend, Grace just told her.

I hate to be the voice of reason, but they could just say that Grace was playing around with pads to be silly, but wouldn't be caught in public with them.  Of course, goonish magic may make this impossible somehow.

That could counter gossip, but the real issues, which none of them know about, is that Jay knows magic is real, already has seen Grace transform, and is an awakened wizard. Oh, and Jay thinks Tedd is a "wizard" and wants to meet him/her.

I'm already three comments behind. I'll post now.

    Here is,

So, no progress on the door, but some nice point of view things between Justin and Tedd.  I wonder if Tedd is aware of the MV5 forms that Sarah, Ellen and Grace made.

Whether Tedd is aware of the MV5 forms, it seems more magic is about to be used, and maybe that will make the door go WHOOSH! or at least (click).

  8. When Pandora visits Adrian in the hospital, she lists four countries Adrian has lived in, maybe in order: The United States; England; France, and Germany. Maybe they're not in order; Germany wasn't really a nation until 1871, but this does establish that at one time Adrian wanted to fight for England. Not exactly great evidence for Adrian being an Anglophile; I kind of think Adrian became an Anglophile some time between Monday's and Wednesday's comic.

Susan: So you are Noriko? You look good for your age.
Noriko: And you look dark for blonde.

I'd love to see an exchange like that in canon, but it would need backstory. Susan got into the group as a friend of Sarah; I think it's established they met in middle school, the only time Sarah wasn't going to the same school as Elliot--and Sarah didn't seem to know Susan was a blonde until Susan revealed how her dad cheated on her mom. Noriko seems to have left before Tedd met Elliot.

Now there's a way around this, but it's a long one: Let's suppose that Susan's dad was also had magic and that her mom knew about it but they kept it secret from their child. Then Dad pulls the brilliant move of bringing his mistress into their home while Mom is away. But until that time, Susan's mom knew Nanase's family because Susan's dad worked with them, and she's kept in touch with Nanase's mom, yet another secret Nanase's mom is keeping from Nanase.

Since Susan got her fairy spell, and she likes having them around, and they are inconvenient to unsummon, it's not a stretch for Susan's mom to have noticed them by now. But perhaps having taken lessons from Nanase's mom, she pretends she knows nothing of them.

    Well, maybe...

That Agent Wolf illustration might not be considered real appearance. I meant the one with infant Tedd.

I agree; I've posted before that the Agent Wolf version could be how he thinks Noriko looks. Wolf has probably never met her in person and might not even know she's Edward's ex-wife--although I'm pretty sure Agent Cranium knows from the deadly stare Cranium gives him after Wolf blurts out his "powerhouse" spiel.

She looks heavier now, but years ago? We saw in Goonmanji 2 what Nanase's mom likely looked like when she was younger. Like I said in a previous post, maybe she stopped using magic, but didn't cut back on the cheesecake.

For all we know, Noriko could be as hefty or heftier than her sister by now. Any votes for Noriko in the Expanded Edition?

    27 minutes ago, hkmaly said:

Not really, she already appeared once in similar way.

    Noriko has appeared three times:

The last instance repeats the image Dan used before. Dan has never shown Noriko's face--just like he's never shown the face of Susan's dad.

It may just be coincidence, but the flashback comic at the end of Hair begins with the same words over the first frame: "Many years ago..."

Specifically the dark in panels two and three.

Or it might mean that the FWOOSH! tripped the circuit breakers. But Dan really went for more of a surrealistic, dreamlike look in this comic. Black panels fit that theme. He did make it clear in in the last two panels that the owner of that comely arm is levitating the mirror door.

  13. 17 minutes ago, Darth Fluffy said:

I do not get why it went dark though.

Maybe it wasn't really dark. Dan only gives us the silhouette of one comely arm in the lass panel to represent the speaker. The point is to not identify her. Or him. You know, like that flashback that Susan had with her father's face blacked out.

Maybe the mirror door was supposed to be something like Tedd's glove--not the gauntlet like Lord Tedd's but the simpler glove he uses to enchant his watches. Adding a sort of magical battery to store up energy (which is something the gauntlet does) sounds like a pretty good idea--if it's reliable.

I eat cheesecake.  I'm male.  Granted I'm more likely to say fudge, but cheesecake is a high calorie food I eat so I might use that as an example.

You thought of Noriko because Nanase eats to restore magic energy. You don't really believe it's Edward, do you? Besides, that arm in the last panel sure looks girly to me.

  15. 2 minutes ago, mlooney said:

And I think it's both the door and the mirror that is the magic item as it was the door, not the mirror that made the clicking noise.

Four enchantments. I've speculated that the mirror door might be a portal, or a surveillance device. At any rate, it's going to do something no one in the basement expects, maybe as soon as Friday's comic.

I'm actually thinking that it is Nanase's mom here.

I'm not. Nanase's mom wouldn't have been living in the Verres house.

Actually, I suspect Noriko was already increasing her caloric intake because she was pregnant with Tedd. The big disappointment wouldn't come until after Tedd was born.

I actually knew that.  However, in case I wasn't clear, I was using the EGS Larry as the example Larry, equating him to the Larry the Stooge but saying that EGS Larry wasn't good enough to be a 3S Larry but was in fact the 3rd stooge.  Clear as mud, right?

3S Larry is definitely the Shaggy Stooge. EGS Larry is more the Stan Laurel to EGS Rich's Oliver Hardy, at least by physical types.

Wednesday's comic is up, and I started a topic for it.
