New Vegas considers weapons that still require you to punch to be "unarmed weapons". Things like brass knuckles, various kinds of gauntlets, and even boxing gloves.

Also, IIRC, baseball bats and a glove that is essentially a battering ram. Also swords in fallout are unarmed weapons as well? That one I'm less sure about.

You've got more than a pony if you know how to use Finale. I haven't had time to crack that nut yet—just SONAR and Adobe Audition (which I beta tested back when it was called Cool Edit Pro).

Very very basic use of Finale, back when I was in high school band, a garage band, and actively helping my friend (who went to school for composition) write stuff. I'd do small things on my own as well, but he was the one writing the actually good stuff.

The resemblance existing as justification for explaining the No-Children limitation makes more sense than introducing that limitation solely to find a way to circumvent it later.

Aha! I've been trying to figure out why I dislike them so much as well (beyond them being brought up for everyone and their dog), and I think this is it, at least in part.(Edited it and added emphasis to make it more clear what parts I agreed with and why).

I would also like to see summoned ranged weapons, but I'm not sure if it's possible. (It's not possible with Susan's spell, of course Diane can get different one ...)

The latter part is important to remember in all this. Also...is there any reason we're talking about magic weapons as if they are all summoned? That's what Susan has, yes, but they're not completely guaranteed to be the same, right? Maybe Diane can multiply a weapon many times (ex: shooting an arrow and it actually shoots 5 at a time), or the legendary sword Excalibur glows with fire in her hands and shoots lightning blades out with each swing when wielded by her, or something.

I've been learning some of the more esoteric functions available within Cakewalk SONAR Platinum. It's quite a program.

Oh my. That's well beyond my audio engineering skills to handle. I've used Audacity, Sony Acid, Finale, and Reaper, but for mostly relatively basic stuff. Beats, Mashups, original songs, and basic editing and mastering. It's like riding a shetland pony and having someone blast by you on a full blooded Arabian. :P

There are still two marks we don't have candidates for, right? The pile of dookie might actually be a cloud of smoke, which would apply well to Diane's pride in her stealth. I still have no idea of what the circle-rectangle thing is supposed to be, unless it's some kind of spinner with one side of the circle representing good luck and the other side bad luck.

It still looks like a "contrast" symbol in an image editing program to me.

Supposedly the adverb can also apply to the use of disposable razors. But I have not yet found a reasonably priced blade that fits the description when operated.

DE Safety razor blades. Personna brand ones can be purchased for 5-10 bucks for 100 blades. Feather brand ones 15 bucks for 50. Both definitely fit "smooth", Feather in particular.

Just think of how shocked Susan and Diane are going to be when they find out that they were decanted from a big egg.

Yes, yes -- I know most of you think the hypothesis is cracked, but we still need to explain their resemblance to Raven. I don't think it was a red herring.

It's probably a hint about SOMEthing, I just doubt it's a hint about Susan being related to Raven, especially considering the commentary:

    Dan said:

This is another one of those moments I have been waiting a long time to get to. While this story has evolved over time, the fact that Raven would want and/or need to conceal Grace's furriness has been a constant, as was his feeling the need for a way to explain her other than "she's my student". Whenever I attempted to picture a "Ravenized" Grace, Susan would come to mind.

Of course, whether that fact has inspired anything beyond this moment remains to be seen. Maybe it inspired a big huge convoluted plot twist that will one day reveal that Raven is Susan's father oh wait he can't have kids. Well, it could still have inspired something equally convoluted. Or not. Maybe. Perhaps. Tacos.

Never having played the game, I'm more than ready for the storyline to end.  What I'm seeing of the game here makes me far less likely to ever try playing it, or anything like it.

One thing to keep in mind is that Dan is singling out specific parts to make fun of, and presenting them out of context for humor, and he's had Grace doing something the game was not fully intended to pull off. It's not a good way to judge the game, or the genre, at all. He's showcasing the worst and most ridiculous aspects of the game.

  8. In the vein of the other "What are you <verb>ing?" questions: what are you currently learning? Be it for work, fun, school, or just 'cause, I'm curious as to what the rest of the community is doing to engage and expand their knowledge. Also, if two people happen to be learning the same topic/skill/thing, it could facilitate sharing of knowledge resources among the EGS community, which could be neat as well. :)

I myself am in the final phase of a Programming Boot Camp (specifically Coder Camps .NET on-site Immersive), and so I'm working on a group project full stack web app using ASP.net, MVC, AngularJS, Ionic, and a laundry list of other things, so I'm currently focused on learning how to add Ionic into our app/website.

I'm pretty sure it does that already. It did it to me when I first popped in to test and forgot to close the tab.

We had someone in there who never spoke for over 2-3 hrs that I was there, and others in the chat said they'd been there for hours at that point already.

This is probably as explicit as Dan has ever gotten about the sexual act*, which doesn't bother me in the least. What does disturb me is however that Grace just had sex with the man who shot her. Sure it's only a video game, but it's still creepy as hell. Why did the game developers make that an option? Just why?

*Granted, it is only for a video game fantasy sequence, so it doesn't really count.

It's one of many, many, many options of things to do in the game. You don't have to engage with it, and there are many different types of character who could take advantage of it. A hitman type could harbor no strong feelings about a man doing his job, and merely find it unfortunate that they were the one targeted. An assassin type could want to have gotten him in a vulnerable state to off him more easily. Etc etc, so on and so forth. It's a game about making choices that befit the character you're playing. Honestly the thing I find most unfortunate is that it's an option only allowed for lady characters.

Wait, isn't generikb that letsplayer who has the vocabulary of a bad 90s kids show?

Opens every video with "Yo, Yo, Yo, Everybody!" as if talking like that hadn't gotten annoying as all hell 20 years ago?

That's the guy, though he's not anywhere close to as bad as you describe him. There are far, far worse LPers out there, with far less eloquence than he. He's not my favorite, but I'll watch an episode of something from him once a month or so.

(Also, your comment comes across a tad...aggressive and antagonistic as a response to someone else recommending Generik to other people. Critiquing Generik is fine, but there are far better and more diplomatic ways to do it than attacking something someone else likes. It's a bit uncalled for).

So, we got Pandora wanting to remake the world to where magic is free to everyone, Colonel Volty wants to remake another way.

Is there someone who wants it to stay the way it is?

    Magic.

    1 hour ago, Scotty said:

Anyone get the feeling that Abner might get curious and do a bit of digging on his own to find out both what Sirleck wants Elliot for, and what Voltaire wants Elliot for?

Seems likely to me. I like the idea that Abner ends up as the (character) Deep Throat to the Main Eight's (Elliot's?) Mulder. (Wonder which character best fits that analogy...).

Who would the Cigar Smoking Man be?

I am contemplating the irony of a person shooting someone in the head and said someone then survives to become their obsessed stalker. That scenario is so wrong and twisted that it gives me cold chills.

    Brain damage equals love?

    ...Yeah, that's pretty disturbing.

Who said anything about love? @The Old Hack said "obsessed stalker", after all. :)

The reason Dan stopped coming here was the level of toxicity that predominated here after years of trolls poisoning the place. It's a good deal better now, but I still don't blame Dan for staying away.

Oh, God, the toxicity. I stopped visiting for the same reason and more or less retreated to the Off Topic forum. I'm just now getting back into the main forums.

    This makes me exceedingly curious.

It was bad. I left for 3 or 4 years to avoid it, and lurked for a good 6 months or so to make sure it'd been cleaned up. You don't really want to know. Suffice to say, there's a reason we have a single thread for complaints/discussions about pacing, scheduling, fan-service, and other such stuff.

Ah Sirleck, it's been so long that I forgot about your existence. And that was a good thing, because he is for me the most scary/creepy thing in the whole comic.* Mind controlling parasites, *shudder*.

Judging by the commentary, even Dan is scared of Sirleck

*Is that the case for anyone else?

Nah, Damien's far scarier and creepier to me.

    36 minutes ago, InfiniteRemnant said:

He's not THAT creepy. the 'mind control creature' thing has been something I've been reading about since i was 10 (Animorphs), It's long since lost it's creepiness. and other than having fingers for eyebrows being a bit on the weird side, there's not actually that much visually thats all that disturbing about him.

Yeah, I agree on all points. (and bonus for Animorphs. Still rather like that series).

It probably has to do with people trying to figure out who the Colonel is, I do remember someone posting the wild theory that Ashley was Pandora:

I seem to remember that one getting a relatively large following for its overly wild concept.
